In regards to wifi:
you can only connect your ds to your router if it has WEP (not WAP!) connection.
If it does, then all you need is your router's password, and you're good! Just set it up through the wifi settings of any game that uses it (pokémon)

What help do you need? I don't really know what more I can say - maybe try to get a wi-fi connection? Then you can trade with people on these forums.
