It is. Those thins on the side are the other two Magnemites. And the three screws on its bodies are a merge of two screws each.

I count 6 screws on Magneton.

And Magnezone looks awesome. More creative than Magneton IMO. And again, I don't just judge Pokemon based on design. That's shallow. My favourite Pokemon design wise is Tortilla, which is not even on my top 10 list!
