I stayed up until 1AM hunting, then decided to sleep. I got to 2,775 REs last night, and I'm up to 3,160 at the moment.

I hope so too. I hope this hunt doesn't go over 5,184 REs, as my starter hunt got to that total before I found Chikorita. You'll get yours before 3,000 REs.
