Pokémon Champion! The Battle of Big Eaters!! (1136)

Yup. Also the fact the writers play it safe with Ash is a pretty good indicator that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. And if Go were going to replace Ash, they would have given him a much more timeless Pokemon like Eevee instead of Scorbunny as his signature.

I do think they need to expand on the cast a bit (more stuff like they did with Kikuna today would be nice) and Ash's team needs to be fleshed out a bit. Also, a little bit more substance on the most important episodes is needed. That is where PM really lags behind the OS and SM IMO.

Overall, I like the show. The tone reminds me of the OS and SM and those two series are what Pokemon is supposed to be like IMO. Go and Koharu are fun characters and even though Ash is static, he is very likable here.

Pokémon Champion! The Battle of Big Eaters!! (1136)

Yeah, Go was just along for the ride in this one. Anyway, Ash's problem is the same problem Pikachu has. They are treated more or less like brands instead of actually characters. So they don't get proper character progression or personal arcs anymore. Also, I don't think this is favoritism...

    December 4th: PM2019 048 - Almost Pikachu Crisis!

I don't like Lucario and I am bit tired of Cinderace. But this sounds like a fun buddy cop episode. I hope they have Lucario play the straight man to Cinderace's funny man persona.

Are you upset with the lack of team chemistry in Ash's Team?

Not really. In his first matched, he used Pikachu (who hasn't been reseted) and Gengar (a fully evolved) Pokemon in his first official match for the PWC. Later, He used Dragonite to fight a Mega Lucario to move out of the Normal tier. So I don't buy the notion that his SM team was too...

    November 20th: PM2019 046 - Battling & Getting! Mewtwo Comes Back

Yeah, I don’t want to seem dismissive, but I just don’t get the directionless take as well. The different classes make it easy to track Ash’s progress and Go has the dex. PM’s objective is pretty straightforward.

    November 20th: PM2019 046 - Battling & Getting! Mewtwo Comes Back

Calling the show directionless is an empty buzzword IMO. Structurally, it isn’t that different from previous shows. Ash has a long-term goal here (normally it is the league, but here it is the PWC) and there are episodes that have him working towards that goal and there are episodes that are...

Are you upset with the lack of team chemistry in Ash's Team?

Part of the issue IMO is that PWC is really set up to be a sequel and the writers are caught between treating it like the next step for Ash and a back to square one "gym" quest. Writing wise IMO, it would have made sense if Ash entered PM with his SM team on hand (sort of like how he entered...

Pocket Monsters (2019) Pokémon Speculation Thread

It never made much sense for him to catch more then 6. I mean they are struggling to give screen time to what he has now and the notion that they were going to give him 10+ captures was nonsense IMO. On top of that, Go and TR with their mecha are the primary catalyst for showcasing Pokemon...

Pocket Monsters (2019) Pokémon Speculation Thread

There was no point because they were going to bring Goodra back so adding another Pokemon would have been pointless. They learned their lesson from DP with Gible being a pointless addition in the grand scheme of things since Gilscor returned for the 6 on 6 match against Paul.

Pocket Monsters (2019) Pokémon Speculation Thread

They have pretty much set up Lucario to be the star against Bea. So it is really more Lycanroc then Charizard, Infernape, or Greninja. IMO, it will likely job to Leon's Charizard and Pikachu will get the spotlight in the end.

October 9th: PM2019 040 - VS Thunder! Legendary Raid Battle!!

This looks like a really fun episode. I really enjoyed the first battle raid in Unova and I love that the Kanto Power Plant is finally being showcased (hopefully we will see Silph Co. down the line.....maybe tied to the Mewtwo episode/arc).

September 27th: PM2019 039 - Satoshi VS Saito! Overcome Octolock!!

It is worse than Infernape and Greninja at the moment. Those two overshadowed their teammates near the end of the series. But early on there was more equal treatment among Ash's other Pokemon. Here, Riolu has been the focus since it joined Ash. Like I said earlier, hopefully this changes after...

September 27th: PM2019 039 - Satoshi VS Saito! Overcome Octolock!!

Exactly. Even in the Ash centric episodes, Riolu and Pikachu are generally the ones who get the most focus. With Dragonite, I kind of understand. They have kind of built him up to be a super reserve. It is like if Charizard, Infernape etc. were at the Sakuragi Lab and Ash only used them in the...
