When I was but a wee lad, I got Pokémon Blue Version for the GameBoy Color. Since then, Pokémon has been my passion. I can still remember my Wartortle evolving on Route 12 (the one just beyond Lavender Town, with all the fishermen), and being in awe at the super-cool-rocket-launcher-turtle-thing I was then the ecstatically proud owner of. I love to write, and I've actually written a book that (at the time I'm writing this bio) I'm in the process of editing, with the search for a publisher to come afterward. I truly believe with all my heart that, if it weren't for Pokémon and games of the like, I would've never had the inspiration I do now for the stories I'm writing and hope to write. I believe this game to be one of the most resonant, enrapturing games of all time, because no matter what version you're playing, nor day or age you play it in, the crux of your journey as a Trainer will always and forever be making connections to life and gaining a following of those you can share the beauty of your memories with. In other words - you're making friends. Your Pokémon aren't just your Gym-beaters. They're not your tools. Why do we have favorite Pokémon, or the one in our party we level up a little more than the rest? Why do we give them nicknames? Why are we hard-pressed to resist screaming something to the effect of "C'MON PIDGEOTTO KICK HIS ***!!!!!" when our rival is wailing on our last bits of health? Because we bind ourselves to the Pokémon we catch on our journey. We call them our own, and in some way, despite the barrier between flesh and machine, they call us their own as well. Through our memories, our laughs, are sorrows, our fears, our doubts, our triumphs, and our last-ditch efforts, 'til the very last Hyper Potion is spent and the final Ultra Ball is thrown, our Pokémon exist with us as partners of the spirit. They're there at the first moment when we turn our games on, and at the very last when we save the game and shut down for the night. Always, they remain with you, wherever your own journey may take you. That's why these games are beautiful. Everywhere you go, you will never, ever be without friends, because right there beside you, you'll always, at the very least, have six.

My girlfriend, writing, music, CERTAINLY NOT POKEMON, spirituality, actually being nice on the web
