Are you SR'ing because you plan to use them competitively? The only reason I see for SR'ing is when you want to get a shiny instead.

Yes, that's more or less the reason. I don't play competitively that much, but if I'm going to catch the legends, I want them to at least be useable regarding that even if I never end up using them.
