Well, again, try a drop shadow or an other glow effect around the text. As long as you can read it, it should be fine.
Might want to make the text bright then. Black on dark gray would be hard to read, so go for something much brighter in color, such as white, light gray, or something fiery-colored.
I sometimes use reflective gradients, but that's not really not necessary.
