I agree with what the furfrou trainer scene means (hence why I don't consider the AL to be on the same level as the other lesgues from an in-universe perspective) and with the second part of the post about the X vs Y fight, though tbh I kinda question the Furfrou trainer's significance within the KL arc's narrative

Especially considering he never even has a cameo afterwards (not even after Ash loses). Even the thing about Ash's memories from his badges could've been showcased simply through some reminiscing as he was heading to the battlefield. Plus Alain vs Trevor already showcases perfectly well how the KL is no joke

But I think the reason why I think the significance of the Furfrou trainer is important is because he represents the idea of all of those people being unable to participate, something never done before
