I think Pokemon needs to evolve and we should not forget that GF mostly makes game for a Japanese audience, which luckily happen to work for all of us. In Japan the majority of kids began playing Yokai Watch with a very kid-friendly and tame story, Pokemon can't cater to this audience anymore...
This is interesting because Heatmor is not part of the Alolan Dex and so won't even be part of VGC 2017, why such a change? Programmer whose favourite is Heatmor begging game director to amend its movepool?
apparently these older Pokemon lines from the Alola dex are sun exclusives (don't show in Moon wild Pokemon data):
But I can imagine that these last two are special Pokemon and not catchable in the wild.
Provided only Regional dex Pokemon (probably exclude UBs and legendaries) and no megas will be allowed it looks well sorted. I took a look at all the available Pokemon and the speed is pretty well balanced, apart from a few rather fast but extremely frail exceptions.
I believe the Tapus will be...
no pre-evolution and Sun exclusive. It is the equivalent to Drampa in Moon.
I have a feeling all the other Pokemon which will be not viable in VGC 2017 will be amended as they become available in future meta games, otherwise the Alola Pokemon will have a very short lifespan.
as for encounter rate check these links
Charjabug and Crabrawler only evolve in certain areas, mentioned as "Electric" and "Summit" specifically.
You only get Fomantis if it levels up in day light.
For the rest -...
You mix up archers with cowboys, which had to be fast to shoot someone. An archer uses stealth and strikes without getting noticed. Once he is found out the archer mostly has to move spots and start hiding again. Also speed is irrelevant, because he'd never be in face-to-face combat.
Looking at the regional dex and the order of all Pokemon as they appear first on islands, we might be able to tell what some of the unknown mons are in terms of typing. Alolan Golem might be Rock/Electric being placed next to Electivire line. Alolan Dugtrio might become a Rock typing, as well...
I'm convinced that the main games will make the jump to the Switch, because the Switch will replace 3DS and WiiU becoming the first handheld + home console hybrid. It is specifically being marketed as such. Although some people mentioned that it's too big for a handheld, looking at how huge...
I think "building a league" is not what it seems it is. It won't be as customised as we wish it will be, probably it just means that we witness a pre-determined story and just take part in there being 4 trainers who'll say "hey let's build a league" and later on there they are with their...
Oh that's interesting! Thanks a lot.
Edit: Found it.
That's the only "spoiler" I wanted and I'm glad we got it. If Akala turns out to be the second island and Phantump won't be moved to "Post-Game" only then that would be fantastic.
I for one am glad for the "small" regional Dex, because I already lack motivation to catch quite a bunch of Pokemon in the dex. That way it's still sort of doable.
Btw, do we know which Pokemon is available where? Probably not, I guess.
I'm super curious where to catch Phantump/Trevenant.
Even without wasting a turn Grassy Terrain remains pretty useless. Same goes for Misty Terrain. The only way I can see those two surge abilities being used interestingly is when switching in into opponents though that is not that difficult to prepare for when creating a team.
Electric Surge in...
and Greninja is gone! Pheew, so the senseless discussion about whether it's coming back can be put to rest. Maybe for a cameo, but that's about it.
Liked the Greninja arc in this anime, but it was way too strong to be just dumped in Pallet Town.
