In SoulSilver, I found a Shiny Krabby (Lonely nature) in Cianwood City when smashing some rocks looking for heart scales. I screamed at the top of my lungs, caught it in the first Dusk Ball and then trained it to 28, and let it evolve. i still need to fix it's EV's and give it a moveset though.

It's a close tie between trying to get a battle with a kid whole thought you could only battle in the upstairs of the pokemon center, getting pwned by the Hoenn Elite Four as a kid only to discover i was too under-leveled and all i had to do was raise them 10 more levels, or PBR rental battles.
