I meant to say that JN has regressed on things not limited to battles which previous series did fairly. Take Ash's team in SM and compare it to JN. Disregarding battles, SM pokemons had better personality and interactions compared to JN mons. You could make every battle look like Ash vs Kukui...

It's just very underwhelming and unplanned. It's reception would not have been particularly better even if it was preceded by BW (the only other series that had major change in plans due to a disaster). Lack of spectacle is not nearly the biggest flaw of JN.

I expect the current champions would be able to easily master most of the Z moves. Alder probably has really bad joints. Wallace could get the Waterium Z pretty quick. Paul could get it but some of the poses would be too goofy for him. Alain wouldn't want any. Gary dittoes Paul.

The counter jerk to Hoenn league is pretty exaggerated. It was not very memorable but trying to pretend that it's like Vetress or Indigo is very contranian for no good reason.

Animation isn't even the top 5 problems with this series and woudn't fix any of the major problems. Considering how COVID screwed industries it's the most justiable flaw.
