Well, considering your style is, in fact, 90% sprites, a lot of GIMP/PS/whatever effects would look really cheesy opposed to your normal type, but like I said earlier, you should practice playing with some other programs. You might find some effects you like. ;o

Looks good, except you abuse the perspective tool. Don't use it so much, it make the ground look ugly. And if you really want to use it, go download some Photoshop Grass brushes and replace the ground with those. That's the LEAST you could do.

Epic. o: Though, some effects are kinda cheesy. You might want to get to know GIMP better and learn how to do some effects.
