Yeah Slugma & Bellossom should've been in the Alolan Dex, it was one of my biggest shocks of the games' Pokedex (along with no Solrock or Lunatone...seriously wtf?).

I'm not sure about walking with your Pokemon coming back, I'd love it but it's possible that the game just couldn't handle that much happening on the screen at one time and that's why it was cut.

Just wanna say something important here about when we'll next get news: CoroCoro may not have anything in this next issue and maybe even the issue after that. CoroCoros tend to be light on info for the first issue or 2 after a game is announced, so nobody get angry when we don't get anything...
