i don't think lyrics factor into the quality of music at all anyway. new dream theater tends to be something that i get just because the band is ok and the album tends to be ok.

i think it's worth just sucking it up and buying an mp3 player of some kind than listening to radio stations. but i really don't like listening to music that i don't want to listen to so i may be biased.

new qotsa is a thing and it's pretty good. new leprous is also not bad at all.

i actually really liked new tesseract. the vocals fit nicely, but i do agree that it lacks a little crunch.

chiming in to say that deliverance is a great album, quite possibly their 5th best. also nothing has toppled amends off my aoty 2013. nothing has even come remotely close, to be honest. new tesseract will hopefully be a solid 4.

djent tends to be a lot more ambient than meshuggah as well, so the two things aren't actually incredibly similar.

if you have a problem with people bashing the music you like, just deal w/ it. opinions differ, people express theirs in different ways, it's going to happen. also there is some very good djent out there, nemertines being a prime example. positively dripping with atmosphere. also re: soad; all...

i like both, more of a mastodon fan than a btbam fan though.
