Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

Reading comprehension isn't a skill you mastered when you argued a lot? That may explain your arguments. Here, let me say it clearly enough that someone who argues your position may understand: "Hey. I see that you're arguing against multiple people who hold the same position as I do. I...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

You can ignore my response then since most other responses are along the same lines anyway. It saves me the time from checking to see if I need to respond to anything. And most see it my way, so there's reason for me to respond a devil's advocate anymore.

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

The logic is viable when talking about match ups (like in rock-paper-scissors), but it's not great when talking about things like powerlevels.

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

You didn't address anything that I said. You just repeated what you've already said, so this post won't take long to write. You've completely ignored my points about faulty Pokemon a>b>c to suggest that it should be used anyway despite the fact that you admit it's imperfect in the first place...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

@Damerdal Since I have a few minutes of free time, I'll go over why I feel that Pokemon a>b>c is flawed at best. It's because Pokemon performance can vary between battles. The easiest example to point out is Pikachu between series back in the day. Pikachu would often be "reset" between series...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

It's not a vague quote: it's what he says. It is a taunt, but i'm not sure Paul has ever been one to taunt Ash by calling himself weak. He generally taunts someone based arou d the situation e.g., he will call someone weak if they actually perform below expectations. If anything, him taunting...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

This was all addressed in previous posts of mine, and I refer you to those, particularly the first post I made. This makes no sense since Ash struggling with people at the level of the M8 doesn't lead to the conclusion that he has no chance of winning. He struggled in all of his battles but...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

What Paul says (logically) is that if Ash has a hope of winning (the M8) then he shouldn't struggle against Paul. If Paul's own assessment is correct, then anyone who has a hope of winning shouldn't struggle against Paul in battle, so the question is "who does Paul think has a shot of winning?"...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

Ultimately all choices are narrative choices. We go with what the series has presented to us and make calls based on what the narrative consistently says. If people want to say that Paul is at the level of the M8 (or Ash), then they have a burden to prove their point. I don't think it can be...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

How can Paul be stronger than Iris but on Raihan's level when Iris likely beat Raihan to put him in 8th place?

    You're dancing around my question.

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

No, no doesn't. I've already said that Electivire was a bit ahead because its his ace. You're now arguing that his strongest team is composed of six specific Pokemon. Me agreeing that Elective is his strongest isn't the same as me agreeing that these are his six strongest. Since that's what...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

And I'm asking what makes you think these are his strongest?

    Be specific. What in DP?

    "Clearly strongest" on what grounds?

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

In JN, prior to the M8, she lost to Ash, who hadn't lost an official battle even prior to battling Iris and went on to win the entire event. As I've said, her combination of feats, statements, and portrayal give her the edge. Is there something in particular that you wanted to point out about...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

As I've already explained, getting into the M8 is a feat. That's better than Paul's best feat (losing to Ash in a training battle). Losing to Cynthia's as she uses a Mega while using no gimmick in the quarterfinals is better than losing to Ash on even footing in a training battle.

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

Not necessarily for reasons that I've already explained. "Give a fight" is vague. It doesn't describe the level of difficulty given--it could be low difficulty, high difficulty, mid, extreme, etc. Paul's feat is just a training battle, which is nice but it doesn't have the same level of...

Alain vs Paul; Battle Of The Strongest!

I didn't say there waa a hige gap. He's in the "can give a fight" tier. Ash defeated Iris, Wallace, and Leon's rival before making it to M8, so he's at a super strong level. That Alain was also able to make it despite not being a champion is an accomplishment for him, not a snub for the rest...
