I'm fairy sure that gamefreak had no idea what they were doing with the poke radar this time around. My daily research pokemon is Budew. The only place Budew shows up is on route 4. Do you want to see the only patch of grass in the whole route where it's even possible to chain?
Yeah...
So my internet has been down since yesterday afternoon and I decided to try my hand at chaining again to pass the time. I was looking for a shiny Inkay at the hidden grass bit in Azure bay. Every time I see the wrong pokemon I soft reset until I find an Inkay. On one reset I saw the silhouette...
Ugh the poke radar is completely worthless. I think I'm going to swear off of it until we know more about how it's changed. Lost a 32 chain of Swirlix in a completely safe patch for no ****ing reason.
Given that the new fishing chaining has been found recently and how incredibly easy it is to get shiny water pokemon now (I have 3 myself) I don't really believe that gamefreak would make the poke radar arbitrarily harder for no reason. It is really annoying though since:

Just got a shiny Clauncher after 58 casts! Also, if you want a better chance at clauncher/horsea I recommend switching to the good rod at the fishing spot south of Ambrette town. That way only Clauncher/Horsea show up instead of Clawitzer/Relicanth/Seadra
trying to get this shiny Swirlix is making me lose my mind. I have to soft reset about 30 times just to get it to show up and then a godamn Croagunk just shows up in a perfectly safe patch.
You get the radar from the scientist at the bank of computers on the 2nd floor of the pokemon lab after you complete the game. Been trying to chain a shiny Swirlix all afternoon and I've had about 3 chains break over 20 and one on about 26. Kind of annoying.
I'm going for a "just choose the...
Hm I might try that today then. I chained up a 40 streak of Croagunk yesterday and I managed to get a shiny one after about 30 minutes of resetting the radar. I didn't find another one after about 70x max repels and 20~ish super repels. At the end when I'd just about run out I decided to step...
So has anyone had the music change for them when using the pokeradar? I know it changes when you're on a chain but sometimes the tempo will kick up and it will switch to a whole other sort of urgent sounding music. Anyone figured out what that means?
