1 hit k.o moves cheap or not?

help

Wi-fi name is Spice
I know every time I battle my brother he gets lucky with his Kyogres sheer cold. Are 1 hit k.o moves cheap or not?

That's the trick. Luck.

Sheer Cold is the most irritating of the OHKO moves, because Fissure won't hit Flying-types or Levitators and Horn Drill/Guillotine doesn't hit Ghost-types (unless Odor Sleuth was used first.)

The really SUPER cheap way to use them is the target/OHKO move. When you use a move that targets like Lock-On or Mind Reader, followed by an OHKO move.

Only one Pokemon in all of the 3rd-gen can pull this off. Articuno.

(In the old pre-Advance games, Poliwrath had that dubious honor - but it learned Lock-On and Fissure.)

Yes. Very yes.

It is extremely cheap. It's all luck based, and I'm against it. Like double team, minimize, ect. but on a larger scale.

I don't see why you couldn't figure this out on your own... kind of a stupid thing to make a thread about.

Also, if you want to stop your brother from doing it, try a mind reader+sheer cold Articuno, and say you'll stop if he does.

You're forgetting Smeargle. It can learn both of the aim moves (Lock-On and Mind Reader) and can learn any of the OHKO moves. Of course, it only needs Sheer Cold, but it can still do the same thing Articuno can.

1 hit ko are cheap gay moves with an acurucy from 30%
So dont use them

They're cheap, and require no skill.

I agree with everyone here, using OHKO moves requires no skill at all, and is very cheap. If you use OHKO moves to win in battle, it shows that you have no real battle experience, and that you must rely heavily on luck instead of actual skill to win at battling.

And if you use a OHKO move and it misses, it gives your opponent a chance to set up, or kill you. I think that having a OHKO move on your pokemon is a waste of a move slot, as they hit only like 30% of the time, and the pokemon that learn 'em have much better moves that could have gone in that moveslot.

I also think that the mind reader + sheer cold combo is the cheapest thing ever, as it's a guaranteed KO on the next turn.

You cant be 'cheap' in pokemon. Its a skillfull game. Whether you use OHKO moves or not, you need skill to win.

I don't think it matters wheter you use a OH-KOED move or not. they can be good in tight situations and harsh punishment, like a lv.23 snorunt (making this up DUH) using sheer cold on a Lv.69 Magcargo. thats harsh irony

Actually, if you are using OHKOs, you are relying completely on luck instead of skill...unless you are foolish enough to use them on opponents with Sturdy, in which case your lack of skill is definitely at play. OHKOs don't require skill to use because the outcome is either, it hits and your opponent faints or, it misses and your opponent takes no damage. They are a natural part of the game and they have a good chance of failing, so I don't consider them cheap. But, they definitely do not require skill to use.

Moves like Focus Punch, Counter, Mirror Coat and Snatch require skill to use. If you have observed your opponent's actions and you can anticapate their next move, then you can use any of these moves to great effect. Even better, if you can set your opponent up to fall into one of these moves, you can ensure that the worst outcome for you is that you use PP without any direct benefit. If you misjudge your opponent, however, you will have given them a free turn, which may turn the tide of the battle in their favor. It's a chance that is taken based on a calculated guess and your opponent's actions rather than a computer-controlled roll of the dice.

OHKOs don't work on a target that is a higher level than the user. This is done to keep them from being overly cheap.

it is a skill like this : have a double battle and put a clefable or some pokemon with the move "follow me" and as a second pokemon as articuno with the moves : sheer cold and mind reader. use follow me so all the enemy pokemons will attack clefable first so articuno can use it's moves peacefully. and then destroy all the others (peacefully). for this you need to have skills to think about it.

no you dont need skills for that.............
tough in every competivie battle clefable will be OHKO or 2OHKO
and dont say i dont use the 1 hit ko moves competivie because if you use them in game thats just to..............ermmm

I think OHKO moves are good to have but I hate the way that they can only effect Pokémon of a lower level than the user, so OHKO moves will never work against Lv.100 Pokémon

I don't see a real problem with them, they have 5 PP and 30% accuracy, if you want to use them then fine.

The chances of them hitting are low, and there's something like a 0.00243% chance you'll hit them all. And a 0.00567% chance of 1 of the 5 landing. I think that's right anyways, so if you want to use them then fine.

The odds are that you aren't going to hit it, so if it works, you can't complain because someone took a gamble and used a move that had a 70% chance of not hitting.

Lapras can learn mean look and sheer cold.
