After extensive grinding in Digglet's Cave in order to get Cabbage my Bulbasaur up to a decent level, I went and cleared out the SS. Anne and the trainers in the Vermillion City Gym. I then used a Moon Stone to evolve Elizabeth my Nidorina into a Nidoqueen. Three Body Slam's later and Surge's Raichu was down and out, earning me the Thunder Badge and the TM for Thunderbolt.

I then went to talk to the Officer Jenny just outside the gym. She gave me a Squirtle. Unfortunately it was only level ten, a full sixteen levels lower than all the pokemon I currently have in rotation. I went through Digglet's Cave and came out on the Pewter City side where I obtained some interesting items such as a Moon Stone and HP Up, and then went back into Pewter City and used Cut to get into the side entrance of the Pewter Museum where I obtained the Old Amber. I then took Squirtle, nicknamed Leonardo, into Mt Moon in order to do some massive grinding against the wild Geodude found there. I also ran into another Clefairy and caught it before heading back the the house outside Digglet's Cave when a man traded me a Mr Mime for it.
Upon returning to Cerulean City I battled my way eastwards towards the Rock Tunnel. Along the way I caught a Nidorino which I nicknamed Phillip and allowed both Cabbage and Leonardo to evolve into Ivysaur and Wartortle respectively. After healing in the Pokemon Centre I took on the challenge of the Rock Tunnel in the dark. Easy enough for me, considering the many times I have done it in the original games and FireRed/LeafGreen. While making my way through the tunnel, Chuck the Mankey surprised me by evolving into Primeape. Charlie the Charmander tried several times to evolve, but I won't let that happen until he has learnt Flamethrower (which I think happens at level 38!)

I arrived in Lavender Town and saved in the pokemon centre. My current rotated team, all between levels 25 and 29, now looks like this:

Zappy Chuck Elizabeth Kitty Penelope Luna Cabbage Charlie Leonardo DiggerDave Pink Rafflesia Phillip Bellatrix Vinny Joey Miles Maggie

I'm taking forever to get through this game, but I can't bring myself to drop anyone!

- I was now at Viridian city again and I visited the gym building and I began defeating the trainers inside while getting spun around cuz of the spin panels. I soon reached Giovanni's spot.
- I mostly used Gyarados and Articuno against Giovanni's team of ground types and I won the Earth badge in the end, which meant I could now compete at the Indigo plateau's league hee hee.
- I left Viridian's gym and healed my team once more and now I set off west to the league gate, but first my rival appeared and I had to defeat him before moving forward, which I did.

After grinding my team to level 36, I got my Charmeleon to evolve into a Charizard. I then walked in Koga's gym to only find that none of them use Psychic types. No Venomoth, Berdrill, or another Grimer? That said Koga wasn't so bad as my Charizard took both Koffing out, my Beedrill pinned down Muk, and Tauros stomped all over Weezing. I got my Soul Badge, went to Pallet Town and Surfed to the grass patch, and caught a Tangela. I saved shortly after. Team is:

Charizard: level 36
Beedrill: level 36
Fearow: level 36
Gyarados: level 36
Tauros: level 36
Kadabra: level 23

On the weekend, I got around to doing the Viridian City Gym. I went through the spin tile maze and battled all the regular trainers in the Gym for the experience and $$$. After leaving to heal my team at the Pokemon Center, I returned and headed over to Giovanni for my final Gym battle. I started the fight with Blastoise and used Surf to deal with Rhyhorn and Dugtrio. Then, I switched to my own Dugtrio and took down both Nidoqueen and Nidoking with a few Earthquakes. Finally, I went over to Exeggutor, who OHKOed Rhydon with Mega Drain. For defeating Giovanni, I earned the Earth Badge.

After all that, I headed to Route 22. There, I encountered my rival once again and had another battle with him. His Alakazam was a little troublesome with its strong Psychic attack, but other than that the battle wasn't too bad. Once that battle was finished, I continued along the route and stopped in front of the first badge check area.

NitroLightningFlash's Pokemon Blue Adventure-Part 5

Trained Pidgey to Leved 10 on Route 4 and then decided to 'switch-train' and headed to Nugget Bridge and took on all the trainers there. At the end of the bridge, there was a trainer who had a Level 18 Mankey which was worrying at first, but Wartortle easily defeated it. After winning, we met a Rocket Grunt who tried to make us join Team Rocket (wonder what would happen if they had given us the choice to? xD). After refusing to join, the Rocket Grunt battled me. After beating him, the Rocket Grunt gave me a Nugget, which i may sell later for £5000.

I went back to Cerulean City and healed my Pokemon, then returned back to Nugget Bridge, just past it, (on Route 24) there was a grassy area in which i caught an Abra with just one Pokeball (luckily since it would just Teleport away if it didn't catch him x3) and then battled the trainers on Route 25, after which both Pidgey evolved and Abra also did too thanks to the switch training (and the fact Pidgey was strong enough to battle on his own by the time i caught Abra). Wartortle and Pikachu also got a bit stronger too. Also picked up two TM's, TM45 and TM19 (containing Thunder Wave and Seismic Toss respectively) along the way.

We then found a house right on the end of Route 25, and we went inside. There was a guy who called himself Bill there (the guy our rival was talking about last part), who had got stuck as a Pokemon, so we helped him get back to normal and to thank us, he gave us an S.S Ticket, which will come in handy later on in the game. We then left the house, but then i remembered to check Bill's Pokemon list on his computer that he mentioned for us to check out. I checked it and then four entries were added to my Pokedex. The entries were for Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon respectively.

After this, we left and went back onto Route 24, and i decided to catch a Bellsprout there, just in case i wound up needing a grass type Pokemon, then went back to Cerulean City, healed the team up again and bought some more Poke Balls and Potions.

Going to train up Bellsprout between Routes 4, 24 and 25 now before taking on Misty which we will be doing next part! :p

More slow and sure progress tonight:

Nowadays I've only been playing Yellow anytime my nephew stays over, but that's fine with me. He's getting better at playing the game (I don't have to tell him to press A so often anymore), but I'm still trying to explain how evolution works and why it happens. Also, he gets annoyed with battles, and doesn't understand that battles are necessary in order to gain EXP, but I'm sure he'll figure that out soon enough. My older brother also didn't get mad at me for letting him play video games (because he was always so adamant about that), so that's a plus!

After some distractions, we progressed into Fuschia, but I still needed to do some training, since my nephew wanted to skip battles that much. There wasn't much I could do except try my luck at the Safari Zone, so I could teach him more about catching Mons. He got to watch me catch Kangaskhan after a couple tries. Then, away from his sight, I continued trying my luck: I eventually managed to catch a Tauros, Dratini, Rhyhorn, and the notorious Chansey (whom I just HAD to name Troll-chan). Now, the only Mon giving me trouble is Scyther.

I also trained up some of my Mons a bit before the battle with Koga (I'll get to that soon). I managed to evolve Ivysaur and Wartortle while I was at it, then taught Blastoise Surf and Snorlax Strength. That's all for now. Once projects and midterms die down, I'll show my nephew the importance of gym battles.

Just beat the league in Pokemon Yellow on my first try! I didn't think I could get through it as I thought my team was very underwhelmed. Afterwards, I decided to go and catch the 3 legendary birds and mewtwo which went very smooth. (Except zapdos as I discovered my box was full as tried throwing an ultra ball. Booo! So I had resart and go back to the pokemon center.) Anyways, I have now retired my team and gone back to moms house to relax and await the release of Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun. May Helix e with you all!

- I had my badges checked one by one as I went through checkpoints and soon I was at Victory Road and I went inside. I pushed some boulders with Strength which activated switches.
- I defeated some trainers as well and I used items to heal my team cuz they got worn out from all that battling. I also found Moltres' lair, but I didn't challenge it and instead kept walking. ^^;
- I eventually finished exploring Victory Road and arrived at the Indigo plateau's league HQ building and I did some shopping inside and now I went back outside to do some quick training.

Am I the only one using a DV calculator? I just got a really good eevee. So far all the pokemon I've obtained have awesome DVs

Maybe if you'd link us to that calculator, we probably would...

Anyway, more progress tonight with my nephew.

I wanted to teach him the importance of battling tonight, but he was stubborn about avoiding them for whatever reason, no matter what I'd tell him. I wanted to help tread through Fuchsia Gym, but he was fixated on Diglett's Cave for some reason, and kept saying that we turn back to "that hole" (I guess the graphics were too limited to make it obvious that it's a cave, haha), and I insisted that we keep battling, so he would learn why the game requires you to battle. It was a fight that I couldn't win, so we turned back to Diglett's Cave.

Once he was done playing, I made solo progress through Fuchsia Gym, but not before doing some training on the routes between Lavender and Fuchsia. I honestly expected Koga to have a more menacing Poison team, at least with a Golbat and Muk (they're Poison types, dagnabit!), but he only had three Venonats and a Venomoth...I was disappointed. The Venomoth was a little difficult even with Charizard, since it was 30-something's vs. 45-50. I thought it would be problematic, because Venomoth started using Double Team, but luckily my attack only missed once, and was able to beat him after a few hits.

After that, I kept training a little more. Next order of business: storm Silph Co.

Wow been a while since I did an update here. So here goes.

After catching Gnome we went to the SS Anne. Beating our way through every trainer we could find soon Zippo and Scribbler had caught up in levels to Gnome and our Rival didnt stand much of a chance.

with a Rub Rub Rub the TM for Cut was ours.

So on to LT Surge, who was a piece of cake with Dig on Dugtrio.

So travelling to Lavender Town and reliving probably the most iconic piece of 8 bit gaming music. We went to Celadon City and caught a new member of our team, Sylph the Doduo. Getting something to drink we took a detour to Saffron and beat up the Dojo Master and got our 5th member of our team. Volt the Hitmonchan. (Volt because Hitmonchan has lightning fast punches, and it fits with the Spirits for Tales of Xillia) .. Going back to Celedon we beat up Giovanni for the Sylph Scope and with Hitmonchans Fire punch (Well it only has Comet Punch and Fire punch atm, wasnt that lucky) and Charmeleons ember Erika was easy and Charmeleon evolved into.. CHARIZARD!!!

So we travelled back to Lavender town and decided to rename Charizard to Efreet and Wigglytuff to Muzet. So all 5 current team members are named after spirits from Tales of Xillia. When we finally catch our 6th member which is currently planned to be Seadra, she will be called Undine.

So now we are making our way up Lavender tower to save Mr Fufi.

Current Team

;006; - Efreet - Level 36
;040; - Muzet - Level 35
;107; - Volt - Level 34
;084; - Sylph - Level 20
;051; - Gnome - Level 34

- I did tonnes of training inside of Victory Road and now I returned to the Indigo plateau and decided to challenge the E4. I began by battling Lorelei first, although it was difficult.
- I faced Bruno once Lorelei's ice types were beaten and I defeated Bruno's team fast and battled Agatha next, which was much harder cuz of her ghost types' status harming moves.
- I faced Lance last and his team was hard to defeat, especially his Dragonite cuz my Articuno's Blizzard attack missed twice. Any ways, I defeated Lance eventually and took a break. ^^

So I cleared out Silph Co and saved the people from the evil Team Rocket and then headed to the Saffron Gym where Kangaskhan and Charizard took care of the trainers as well as Sabrina. Then I flew (not on Charizard :( ) to Pallet Town and surfed to Cinnabar Island. After reviving some fossils I headed into the Pokemon Mansion, caught some new Pokemon, and found the Secret Key to open the door to the Cinnabar Gym. Slowbro and Golem made quick work of the Fire types and defeated Blaine's Pokemon in 1 move each. After the successful battle I headed to Viridian City and took on the gym with some super secret gym leader. Once I defeated all the gym trainers I challenged Giovanni (spoilers?) and let Victreebel and Slowbro Razor Leaf and Surf his Pokemon until they had all fainted. I got the Earth Badge, defeated Gary one last time, and took a break.

After training Bellsprout for a while on Routes 4, 24 and 25, Bellsprout grew to Level 20 (Wrap is broken in the old games, made leveling up faster for Bellsprout who didn't have anything to hit other grass types with when first caught x3) and then the team looked good to battle against Misty.

Before battling Misty though, there were two other trainers. The first trainer had a Level 16 Horsea and Shellder, which Bellsprout defeated easily with Vine Whip and then evolved into Weepinbell afterwards which was a nice surprise. (I forgot that Bellsprout evolved at Level 21 and if i'd remembered that i would of raised her one more level before the gym ^^; ). The second trainer had a Level 19 Goldeen, which Pikachu easily defeated with Thundershock and then we healed and then went to battle Misty which she accepted.

Misty first sent out her Level 18 Staryu while i sent out Pikachu. Pikachu attacked first and used Thundershock, leaving Staryu just under 50%. Misty used an X Defend on Staryu (kind of silly since Pikachu is a special attacker and would take Staryu out next attack. You wasted an item and a turn right there Misty xD), next Pikachu used Thundershock and Staryu was down.

Finally Misty sent out her Level 21 Starmie. I kept Pikachu in, but unfortunately Starmie attacked first with Bubblebeam (it felt so nostalgic hearing Bubblebeams sound effect xD) and it left Pikachu with 17HP. Pikachu used Thunder Wave (just in case he went down so that Weepinbell could hopefully outspeed when she came in). Since Starmie was paralyzed now, Pikachu outsped next turn and used Thundershock which only did 1/4 of Starmie's HP (REALLY Pikachu? I expected you to hit a bit harder, being only one level lower and things...oh well). But for some reason, instead of using Bubblebeam and taking Pikachu out next turn, Misty used another X Defend...so i took the opportunity to switch Pikachu out and brought in Weepinbell (handy, since Starmie got fully paralyzed that turn haha xD). Weepinbell used Vine Whip doing another 50% to Starmie. Starmie used Tackle, not doing much to Weepinbell at all and next turn Weepinbell took Starmie out with a final Vine Whip, as Pikachu grew to Level 21, earning the team the win. Nice job Pikachu and Weepinbell! :D

After beating Misty, she gave us the CascadeBadge and TM11 (Bubblebeam which will probably go to use later on Wartortle or someone else). We left the gym, healed and that's where we saved the game! :p

Pikachu LV37: Thundershock, Skull Bash, Thunderbolt, Quick Attack

Vaporeon LV36 (going replace it for Lapras later on): Quick Attack, Water Gun, Ice Beam, Bubblebeam

Hi i'll try and recommend good moves (you don't have to do everything if you don't want to, these are just suggestions ^^)

Charizard-Flamethrower (Level 46)/Fire Blast (TM off 7th gym leader on Cinnabar Island), Slash (or Mega Punch as you say, but i recommend Slash since Charizard's quite fast it results in critical hits often since in gen 1, critical hits are determined by your Pokemons speed and Slash has a high critical hit ratio anyway), Seismic Toss, Dig (if you still haven't used the TM yet).

Pidgeot-He's ok as is, although replacing Wing Attack for Mirror Move may come in helpful sometimes, he learns it at Level 54 though ^^;

Pikachu-Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder Wave (you get the TM on Route 24-paralyzing opponents could come in helpful sometimes if you want to ensure that your Pokemon that comes out if Pikachu faints can outspeed), Skull Bash

Butterfree-Mega Drain, Sleep Powder, Psybeam/Psychic (the TM for Psychic is off a guy in Saffron City but if you want to use the Psychic TM on your future Lapras then keep Psybeam), Poison Powder

Nidoking-Strength, Rock Slide, Earthquake (TM in Silph Co. don't remember what floor though ^^; ), keep Toxic/Fire Blast (TM off 7th gym leader in Cinnabar Island, if you don't use it on your Charizard).

Lapras-Surf (HM), Ice Beam (Level 38), Psychic (TM off a guy in Saffron City, if you don't use it on Butterfree)/Body Slam (Level 25), Thunder (TM from the Power Plant to hit other water types-accuracy is bad with this move though like with Fire Blast ^^; )

I hope this helps you ^^

I did things differently, more different than ever before and in a bit of an unorthodox way. I bought a Pokedoll from Celadon City department store and used this to run away from the Ghost Marowak, bypassing the need to get the Silph Scope. I saved Mr. Fuji and got the Pokeflute. After this, I decided to go see if I could access the Silph Co. Building in Saffron and I could! First though, I beat the Fighting Dojo and got a Hitmonlee. After this I wetn to beat the Silph Co. Building. I was able to level up quite quickly early in the game thanks to being able to do this. After I was done here, I went to the Game Corner, and Giovanni and his thugs were at their smaller levels. It was wasy since I already beat them in Pokemon Tower and Silph Co. After all of this, I decided to bypass the gym in Celadon and Saffron and I fought Snorlax. I killed it by accident, but I still have a second shot. Anyway, i went to Cycling Road. There I caught a Raticate, Fearow, and Doduo. I am still currently on Cycling Road but I made a detoue back to Celadon to take my Leaf Stone out of my PC and evolve my Gloom into Vileploom after she learned Petal Dance. Now going back to Cycling Road, and from there, to Fuscia. I'm heading for Safari Zone.

A couple of days ago, I entered the building with the first badge checkpoint and then exited on to Route 23. Heading along that route, I passed through all the other checkpoints and soon reached the entrance to Victory Road. I wasn't ready to explore it yet, though, so I headed back down R.23 to the patches of tall grass to do some more training. I fought wild Pokemon until all of my team members were the same level again. Also, I captured a Sandshrew and a Sandslash for my Pokedex.

Next time, I'll go through Victory Road.

- Once Lance was finally beaten, I went to my rival's room after I had healed my team and I challenged him. It was a tough match but I won and then professor Oak congratulated me. :3
- I got registered in the league's hall of fame and I saw the ending credits next hee hee. When I was back at my room, I went downstairs and flew to Cerulean city to visit the Unknown Dungeon.
- I had a hard time exploring the cave and I caught some pokemon while doing that and after a while I found Mewtwo's lair and I battled and caught him. Now I went to Fuchsia city again. ^^
