1:When was Gamecube released?

2:What does the N in GCN stand for?

It was released Nov. 5, 2001 in North America. The N is Nintendo. NGC was already patented, so they had to make it GCN.

The NGC means Neo-Geo Pocket Color. It was patented by SNK... Because of that, Nintendo had no choice but to use the GCN abbreviation for the Gamecube to avoid a costly lawsuit by SNK...
