2006 RSE GAME CHALLENGE
Did you play through Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald already? Do you want a challenge? Well, this is the challenge for you. This is the first Game Challenge of the upcoming new year. Here, you shall put your mind, skills, and talents to the test. It is both a restraint challenge AND a Monotype challenge, so you'll have to think before you try anything.
Here are the challenges. Good luck to you all.
BASIC RESTRAINTS -- BATTLES
Rival Battle 1: Your starter cannot reach Level 6. It has to be Level 5 on Level 5. This is the only battle where your starter can battle if not of your preferred Monotype team.
Roxanne: Your team cannot reach Level 10. No "Energy-Absorbtion" attacks can be used, i.e. Absorb, Mega Drain, Leech Seed, etc. You cannot use items in this match.
Rival Battle 2 [Emerald Only]: Your team cannot reach Level 12. Your starter cannot participate in this battle. No items can be used.
Brawly: Your team cannot reach Level 15. The following attacks cannot be used: Confusion, Wing Attack, Peck, and Quick Attack. The Pokémon Ralts or Kadabra cannot be used in battle.
Rival Battle 2 [RS]/3[E]: Your team cannot reach Level 18. Your starter cannot participate in battle. No items can be used, and you cannot switch out in this battle.
Wattson: Your team cannot reach Level 20. Geodude cannot be used in this battle. The Ground-type move Magnitude cannot be used in battle, either. The Pokémon Combusken and Marshtomp cannot participate in battle. Also, if you are playing RS, nor can Grovyle.
Leader Battle 1: Your team cannot reach Level 22. You cannot switch out to prevent the effect of Intimidate against Mightyena. Your starter cannot partake in this battle.
Flannery: Your team cannot reach Level 22. The Pokémon Geodude cannot be used in battle. The Pokémon Marshtomp cannot partake in this battle. The move Magnitude cannot be used in battle.
Norman: Your team cannot reach Level 25. Any Fighting-type Pokémon [even Dual-typed, i.e. Breloom, Combusken] cannot be used in this battle, nor can any Fighting-type moves can be used.
Rival Battle 3 [RS]/4 [E]: Your team cannot reach Level 28. Your starter cannot participate in this battle, and Electric-type moves and Pokémon cannot battle Pelipper [E].
Winona: Your team cannot reach Level 28. Moves that enhance your Speed to help prevent the ability of Aerial Ace cannot be used, i.e. Agility. The Pokémon Manectric cannot be used in battle. The move Thunderbolt cannot be used in battle.
Final Rival Battle: Your team cannot reach Level 30. Ice-type attacks cannot be used against Tropius, nor can Electric attacks on Pelipper [E]. Your Starter cannot participate in battle, nor can items be used.
Tate and Liza: The Follow Me-Focus Punch combo cannot be used. Attacks that affect both Pokémon are prohibited. Your team cannot reach Level 33. Status-afflicting moves are prohibited. Attacks with a power of 95 or higher cannot be used.
Leader Battles 2 [and 3 - E]: Your team cannot reach Level 35 [36 for Emerald for third battle]. You cannot switch out to prevent the effects of Intimidate. Attacks with a power of 80 or higher cannot be used.
Wallace [RS]/Juan [E]: Your team cannot reach Level 38. Your starter cannot reach Level 36, nor can it evolve. You cannot use items. Attacks with a power of 70 or higher, along with moves of a perfect accuracy cannot be used.
Elite 4/Champion: Your team cannot reach Level 41 at the end of it all. When against Steven [in RS], you cannot use Magneton against Skarmory. Moves with a power of 60 or higher cannot be used, along with attacks with an accuracy of 90 or higher. You cannot use items at all, inside or outside of battle.
Pokémon Master Steven [E]: Your team cannot reach Level 51. Your starter cannot battle at all. Magneton cannot be used against Skarmory.
COMPLEX RESTRAINTS
When entering a new city, you can only visit the Pokémon Center twice. When you have used up those two visits, you cannot use the Pokémon Center there again.
When in other Resting Places, such as the Old Lady's Rest Stop, or in the Weather Institute, you can only use their facilities twice. To access a PC, you must use the facilites in the two visits, or find other places.
You may only use the items you find picking up or being given to by others on the journey or from Pokémon with the ability of Pickup, or by using the attacks Thief or Covet. Purchasing items are forbidden. Selling items aren't necessary.
The Game Corner is not to be used, being that you need to purchase prizes.
Secret Bases are forbidden, being that you need to purchase bricks and such to decorate the rooms, which means visiting a shop.
When in the Battle Frontier, you are not allowed to breed for moves, and you must use your Monotype team.
THE MONOTYPE CHALLENGE
- You play through either Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald using Pokémon of only one type (including Dual-types who must share the chosen type)
- If your chosen starter is not of the type you picked, you are forbidden to use it.
- No matter how stuck you get you must not use any other types.
- You are allowed to use only ONE set of TMs. This means trading between other versions of RSE and also Colosseum and XD are forbidden.
- As with TMs, you cannot trade between games for Pokémon. Trading for evolution is allowed (Machamp, Alakazam, Golem, Huntail, Gorebyss) You may trade between RSE games, so long as you do so, when you reach the place said Pokémon would naturally appear (i.e., Zangoose in Route 115)
- After you pass certain events or feel the need to update, you reply to the topic with details on how your progress is going, the status of your team, how hard it is, etc.
- You may have only ONE member of a famly in your team. That means no duplicating a Pokémon to fill your spots. Meaning you cannot have a Lombre and a Ludicolo or two Ninetales.
- The challenge is considered complete upon the capture or defeat of Rayquaza in RS, or obtaining of all Gold Symbols in Emerald.
- NO EXPLOITING ANY GLITCH WHATSOEVER
