2021 Fanfiction Awards - Voting

The Great Butler

Hush, keep it down

The Rules

- The voting phase of the awards is currently open and lasts until April 21st, 2022, 23:59 UTC. If necessary, an extension may be given.

- Any member of the Serebii.net forums may vote in the Fanfiction Awards, regardless of whether they submitted nominations. Like nominations, votes are submitted on the 2021 Fanfiction Awards website; the voting form is located here. You will have to verify that you control a Serebii.net forums account in order to vote, either through an automated process involving editing your user profile or by PMing Dragonfree here on the forums. Further instructions can be found on the site.

- In each category, you can vote for one of the submitted nominations, or you can pick 'No Vote'. However, you must place an actual vote in at least half of the categories in order for your ballot to be valid. Additionally, you may not vote for yourself or your own work in any category. The awards site enforces these limits automatically.

- Like in the nomination phase, asking people to vote for you is not allowed. The same goes for applying implicit pressure to vote for you. You may call attention to the awards in general to encourage participation, but any effort to encourage votes for you in particular is inappropriate. Failure to conform to these guidelines may result in disqualification from this year's awards.

Feel free to ask questions, report issues with the site or discuss the voting process in this thread.

Clearly we're great!
Damn. That's all the turnout? Damn.

I mean. Unsure if it could have benefited from more time for the nomination stage; certainly could have used more promotion (I *think* it was mentioned in Reddit once and that's it? That's how I noticed it, T-72 hrs before deadline o_o ). Certainly the FYCs could have been promoted to nominations given the low number of entries, since the FYCs are at least proof enough that those authors cared. But considering I've seen *lots* of the internet suffer a drop in writing participation in the last few years (I've been trying to expand my circle of beta readers for the last few months and it's narrative murder), I'm in the least glad that the event was retained.

If anything, I at least automagically know who half of my votes go to, since with a minimum of 5 cats to qualify to vote, it's ironic that 5 cats also have one available vote.

Without getting into an inappropriate level of detail, I made the judgment call given the circumstances that the best course of action was simply to finish this year's awards as they are and then immediately initiate a thread to discuss more profound changes to the system for next year.
