I'm currently running side by side playthroughs of Emerald and LeafGreen, with themed teams for both.
In LeafGreen I went for a mountaineer/fossil hunter theme. I'm currently in Fuschia, taking on Koga shortly, and catching a few more pokemon from the Safari Zone before I move on.

Shredder (Sandslash): Level 40 | Slash, Dig, Sand-Attack, Poison Sting
Shroomy (Parasect): Level 40 | Slash, Spore, Giga Drain, Leech Life
Charizard: Level 40 (Temporary team member) | Wing Attack, Smokescreen, Flamethrower, Metal Claw
Heavy (Rhyhorn): Level 31 | Tail Whip, Stomp, Rock Blast, Scary Face

As for Emerald, I wanted to do a desert themed Sandstorm team. I just beat Wattson and snuck past everyone to get to Route 113/Meteor Falls and get some of the mons I actually want to use.

Sceptile: Level 38 (Temporary team member) | Cut, Screech, Leaf Blade, Quick Attack
Mightyena: Level 37 (Temporary team member) | Take Down, Swagger, Rock Smash, Bite
Fuerto (Solrock): Level 24 | Fire Spin, Harden, Confusion, Rock Throw
Raptor (Skarmory): Level 16 | Peck, Sand-Attack, Swift, Agility
