4th Generation Pokemon Censorship

I tried posting this thread before, but apparently it never got through with all of the D/P threads coming out.

My question is, do you think that text, especially the Dex entries of the legends in D/P and the 4th Generation, will be censored upon coming to America?

I can hardly see Christian-influenced American censorship allowing the usage of the word "god" in the Dex entires of Pokemon like Dialga and Palkia, and the new legendary trio. I think that's sort of lame, because it's not like they're SAYING that these Pokemon are gods, the entries say that the ancient people used to worship them as gods or something,.

This stuff usually never gets through, which is disappointing. Although they try to market Pokemon to kids only, at least keep it true to form. The only exception I've seen is the Egyptian God cards in Yu-Gi-Oh!, although they cesnored the hell out of evertyhing else.

Yeah, what he said.

Since Pokémon isn't the super huge fad it once was, I think the franchise can get away with such things now then when parent and christain groups actually cared about such things.

Yeah. Imagine if it still was?

I mean, some conservative Christians flipped out once because Murkrow resembles a witch lol. Any reference to false gods and there'd be lawsuits.

Thank you, SPPf! :)
Did Yu-Gi-Oh's numerous references to "gods" cause mass censorship? Didn't think so.

Well I did sort of mention that...

But we're talking different franchises, and I know Yu-Gi-Oh! never came under fire like Pokemon did. (possibly because they completely skewered every reference to death in the dub)

They didnt bother censoring LoZ and Yu gi oh and I doubt they'll censor this!

Ya, I doubt they'll censor this. If anyone read the Mew dex entry it says it has a little bit of every pokemons DNA, resembling Adam and Eve for Christians.

Um Mew resembles more of the evolution theory that all living orgainsms had a common ancestor.

I hope so. But knowing American censorship, I'm not so sure.

Actually, this usually is the case. For example in the Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, the water dungeon was called the Tower of God in Japan. In the USA they simply changed it to the Tower of the Gods.

Besides, Ruby and Sapphire already had some dex entries that are more violent than what I had come to expect. I doubt we´ll see any severe censorship this time around.

The Dex entires are supposed to reflect what happens in nature... Or at least nature where the fauna have superpowers.

So toning down the dex entries would be like toning down what happens in nature.

Anyway, everyone knows that it's supposed to be fiction so why waste energy in complaining about it? (the franchise I mean)

Well, they called the church in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door a steeple, so at the very least Nintendo doesn't mind using THAT word.
