Question to all: what keeps you motivated DURING hunts? Personally, I look at the shiny sprite again and again, obviously come here, and even go to YouTube to watch videos of live captures/hatches/etc. to keep me motivated.
I'm curious to see what others find extra motivating when they don't know when that shiny will appear...
Good luck to all!
Congratulations on the Audino, Pooch, Cradily, and ... Trapinch? Is that all? I hope so, because I'll feel mighty bad if I forgot anyone! No, it's not all ... That Tirtouga, too!
The thing that motivates me is getting that shiny. In the past, looking at the sprite and seeing shiny videos would inspire me, but I think that now I just feel that if I really want one, I just get to hunting it because I know it will eventually appear at some point. I tend to hunt relentlessly, time permitting of course. For my latest shiny, Giratina, I spent every spare moment SRing because I knew that it could appear at any time, and I wanted to SR as much as I could in order to get the best results.
I just always make sure I have something to distract me now, like my ipod or DVDs or youtube vids, or whatever. If not, that's when it gets very tedious and monotonous and you tire of it very easily, but if you just place the DS to the side and only focus on it when you really need to, then you're free to do a whole lot of other things.
I think that's why I particularly like MM, as you are not in danger of running or fleeing or KOing a shiny Pokemon, and can spend a lot of time not even looking at the screen.
In the beginning, I didn't think I could find a shiny to save my life, but I know I can now, so it's more about not giving up and keeping myself distracted and not letting it consume me so much.
Of course, we all have our moments, too, where it just gets very frustrating or whatever ... that's just being human. I find that if I'm feeling a bit nuts about it all, I vent to someone who actually knows what it's like, and they should be understanding and encouraging. So, yeah, if you're feeling down about it, you should be able to come here if you don't have anyone you know and vent a little. I can't speak for everyone, but I think that one of the reasons for these topics, isn't it? To not only post our successes, but to get that encouragement or motivation from people who understand what you're experiencing.
It's sort of silly to think that this is all for a different coloured sprite, but I know how cool I think they are, and it gives me something else to do in the game long after I've finished the main quest and post game stuff.
