7-Star Raids - Strategies, Speculation & Discussion Thread

Det. Viper

That’s Detective Viper to you
Been on vacation so just did my first Mewtwo raid. Did it with a bunch of ransoms and we somehow managed to defeat it. So I feel extremely lucky and accomplished right now. One of us was pulling Mud Slap, Light Screen, Electric Terrain, Struggle Bug support. Very lucky to have that person on the team.

When I got my Mewtwo we had a guy with Mud Slap and I had Electric Terrain. Makes things so much easier. I think everyone had Struggle Bug and Leech Life, too.

I wanted to save my 7-day free online for when Indigo Disk comes out, but oh well, GF successfully baited me with this one.

Tried online and got it on my first try with plenty of time to spare (even though the support Mew kept using Acid Spray (?) and had no means to heal, so we had to same him/her with cheers).

Now I have not much to do with the remaining 7-days... maybe try to look for someone who can evolve my Scythers for me so I can have a low level Scizor and a Kleavor with my OT.

For the record, here is my video of doing it successfully. It wasn't even all-Mew!

The key here was a teammate smart enough to set up Electric Terrain when the barrier was close to breaking. If Mewtwo's Rest fails, it won't try to use Rest again.

Very nice! That was some excellent teamwork.

Finally got some time to try to Mewtwo battle after a while. 1st try today got solid team and won with time to spare. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing. 2 Outright attacking mews (Swords dance and leech life), One support Mew with both offensive and defensive capability, and one support Mew (me).

Okay, someone found a way, via solo-Mew.

Mud-Slap
Amnesia
Bulk Up
Leech Life

Tera Bug yep. Note that when Mewtwo uses Rest, that magical shell is not formed again, so defeating it with full health is easy if you Bulk Up'd.
Wow, I used this and Bulk Up'd like 3x and Leech Life doesn't do a thing in its HP graph. Though I didn't Tera Bug it or give any protein, damn. I feel like I need to replace 1 of these moves with Recover.

Doing it solo is nearly impossible. I tried and barely scratched the thing and that was with boosting stats too.

Ok, I successfully did that move set today... Mud-Slap 4x twice, before and after Mewtwo clears itself. By the time Mewtwo clears itself, had very high on Bulk Up (defense) and Amnesia (Sp D). All the while having Leftovers to slowly gain HP.

So what happened. I max'd out Attack. I Bulk Up where Mew's Attack and Defense won't go up anymore... And then had like 7 Leech Life to go. Used it all up, not even 10% of Mewtwo's HP. I didn't Terastalize into Bug, or maximize protein, or PP Up, but it doesn't seem those will make a difference.

So that moveset still fails to the fullest as solo. Was there a solo moveset that works?

Also, remember when I asked what Pokemon can be used after the DLC comes the 13th? It's not what Pokemon to use, because they don't get the stat boost that Mew does. It's what Move Tutor moves come. That Mew can use. Mew needs to be able to use a move that lowers Mewtwo's Defense. So we're gonna have to hope for a new move tutor for that, or some Bug move that's like 120 base or more.

Crunch might help. 80 base and has a chance of lowering Defense.

All of that would be needed and plus a lot more you probably didn’t had.

If you are really going to try solo, look up the strategy online because it is something that it’s impossible to get done without following a guide:

And even if you are following it, it can still be pretty much impossible (I would say 20% of the strategy is you and 80% is luck).
Before I gave up on solo, I spent probably around 15 hours doing continuous failed attempts (although a few times I was just one or two hits away from finishing it).

Mewtwo still exists for people that didn't update. I haven't got luck with my level 100 Delphox using Shadow Ball. Shell Bell heals 1 HP. My 1st Shadow Ball caused Mewtwo's Special Defense to go down, still 1 HP gained from Shell Bell.

I also Mystical Fire and Sunny Day + Mystical Fire to lower attack. Mewtwo's Psystrike can 2HKO my Delphox, though Delphox can take Aura Sphere's and Ice Beam better.

With all that set aside, the question is, who in the BB DLC can go against Mewtwo, and what move tutors come out.

Looks like Victini still won't come to the Paldea 'dex huh.

Been having fun with the paradox raid battles. And plus I was thinking of inviting some of my legendary Pokemon to the present games, since I haven't done much with them.

Biggest problem is that Mewtwo has Aura Sphere to counter Dark Types otherwise a few could rise to the challenge. They made him
TOO GOOD. I'm glad i have my own Mewtwo from a Gen 8 import and i gave up on gen 9 raid mewtwo.

Too many bosses have been notorious.

Iron Leaves and Walking Wake: Very high defense stats and high attack
Hisuian Samurott: Right after it gets of a few sword dances it hits very hard with Megahorn
Chesnaught: Normal type gave it very few effective counters
Delphox: Instantly uses Dazzling Gleam to hurt everyone before the fight begins (so not fair)
Mewtwo: Gets the raid boss shield right at the match and its stats turn the raid into scratching a adamantium wall
