7-Star Raids - Strategies, Speculation & Discussion Thread

Beat Torterra online. Orthworm was effective but lost the first few times but less to do with Orthworm being a problem and more to do with people bringing questionable choices that kept getting knocked out. As soon as there was a good team Aboliva, Orthworm, Haunter and Serperior it went a lot easier. Haunter using Clear Smog and Acid Spray was very useful for Serperior's damage output.

I've been putting the Torterra raid off for a while but Serperior worked a treat. followed some YouTube strategy that had a weird EV spread (max def, 20 speed, the rest on spatk) but didn't feel much like training (also I thought it was supposed to be max spatk) so I just force fed my mighty Serperior 22 of the spatk vitamin and 4 speed vitamins (I can never remember their names). gave it a shell bell, then 2x breaking swipe, giga drain, taunt, terastalize, leaf storm and giga drain until it fainted. I fainted once near the end, after taking down Torterra's shield, but it ended up fine. the only downside is that Serperior can't relearn Iron Tail and I like to keep my mighty starters with their original set, but oh well.

glad these are over. now I'm gonna sit here and wait to see if they bring the mighty raids I missed back. I think it's just Empoleon, Blastoise and Greninja but I might be mistaken. I know we have the Rayquaza raid next month but since it's just a 5 star one I'm not that worried.

Hard to say what they will do following the Rayquaza raid. There's a few more Pokemon with the same origin in the anime (including Galarian Moltres) and they could do events with Pokémon like that which are connected. But I can also see them bringing back the mightiest raids similar to how they brought back the Charizard raid.

I have a feeling we aren't getting that many more raids, I think Pokemon Day will probably showcase the last ones.

Although Shiny Rayquaza is important to the anime, the announcement for it has had no other specific tie ins or acknowledgement towards it. Everything is simply focused on the SV games itself, even the raids, outbreaks and events coming alongside it have no relation to the show.

So I don't think we'll be seeing any others from the anime show up.

If I were to guess, we'll either get Mightiest Gen 9 starters and/or Shiny Koraidon/Miraidon Raids.

This is feeling very similar to when SWSH was winding down with the Max Raid events.

If the raids wind down a lot and Rayquaza turns into a giveaway event and not a raid i won't see much of a reason to buy further subscriptions.
I still wish they could offer extra raids for those remaining legendaries and mythicals that are unable to get imports like Magearna or other mythicals like i don't have.
Otherwise the online raids are dead to me until what Legends AZ offers (i avoid complexity of online battling and rule regulations)

Shiny Rayquaza is a raid but it is merely a 5-star one rather than 7-star. Not sure whether its moveset will take cues from the one from Horizons since Dragon Ascent and Draco Meteor will be a big boon for the player.

Magearna is pretty much locked to Pokemon Home, because even if you need all the games to complete the dex (up to gen 8), it is pretty much a free giveaway.

Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion IMO are inded going to be kept locked away until PLZ-A

only a 5 star ? That is a relief in terms of difficulty but when is it arriving ? Around Christmas or New Years ?

So what will the most likely weakness be for a dragon tera. Zacian Tera Fairy and Play Rough or someone with a Ice move ?

I was planning to use a Sylveon myself. If someone in my raid brings a Zacian than this is pretty much a slam dunk.

It should be easy to get a digital copy or physical. I'm not sure if Zacian's default tera form is Fairy or Steel. But my Zamacenta was Fighting.
If you have to import them you can get the Rusted Sword/Shield at the auction houses.

Should be Fairy for Zacian as it only becomes Fairy/Steel in battle (when holding the Rusted Sword). In its base form it is a pure Fairy-type.

I always make mine hold the sword. The attack boost in it's crowned form is a must in my opinion.

Today's the day

Will be interesting what the moveset for Rayquaza will be?

Maybe I'll just be able to use my other dragon killers, Cetitan and Baxcalibur.

Haven't found a Rayquaza yet.

But I found...

Annihilape plays so dirty! Went into a 5 star raid and it kept on using Rage Fist. Smh. Me and the NPCs had the edge until the very end. (Via Pokemon Scarlet)

Thinking it's focused on physical attacks, so I'll have to adjust to defeat it.

(Tried again using non physical attacks and it didn't help lol. It still played just as dirty.)

I'll probably use Baxcalibur too. It just depends on typing.
