7-Star Raids - Strategies, Speculation & Discussion Thread

you could catch it once per save
Well that is old now. The easiest way for me is random luck in Gen 8 Dynamax Adventures. It's just too bad almost 40% of the rentals and wiild ones are just bad or bad moves. I just hope i don't encounter Martin's Solrock anytime soon.

Funnily enough Martin's Solrock clutched some raids for me by actually destroying the last shield barrier or actually defeating a raid altogether due to lowered stats and it using psychic or rock blast effectively.

What that thing fails 90% of the the time it's turns because of boss de-buff's and puts me at risk of losing important lives.

All this waiting and it was a 5* raid? What a disappointment.
I mean, of course I'm glad they didn't do another Mewtwo (as in, a raid that is tailored to be impossible to beat on solo to force you to pay for online), but I thought this was going to be a 7* at least as challenging as some of the starters were.

With it being lvl.75, you don't even need a strategy. Just use whatever on lvl. 100 that is super effective and you will win.
My Azumarill didn't even need Belly Drum to solo it, just spamming Play Rough every round was enough and my HP never fell beneath 80%.

Ya Mewtwo where you needed pretty much just 4 mews is not a great method.

That's the only raid I simply could not be bothered with.

Yes you needed perfect bug tera type and scour paldea for ingredients for the moves and follow exact guides. You weren't even supposed to be able to catch that version Mewtwo if i remember it right.....which is just insulting.

It is indeed a good thing this Rayquaza event is not a 7 star or a mightiest mark moveset. It a level 100 maximum star would just turn into a absolute killer pokemon with all sorts of special boosts.
Yep making Rayquaza Mewtwo difficult would have gone against the whole point of this raid. Bringing as many people back to the game as they can. Which for the most part, is casuals who haven't touched the game since DLC 2 was released.
Mewtwo required you to optimize your Mew with a specific build and everyone couldn't just bring attacking Mew. And if you tried to go against the script, your Mew would die and you were considered dead weight.

Rayquaza being much more accessible is the better call imo.

if you have extra switches, you could catch it couple of times per save fire. (I have 3 switches,)
same account linked on 3 different switches, you mean? I wouldn't know the ins and outs of that, I only have the good ole faithful switch lite.

Mewtwo is pretty much a perfect play boss but only one strategy works. Otherwise he literally curbstomps anything you bring
Yep that is the reason i just said to myself f* this i'll just import from my Pokemon Sword save to get it into Violet.

It was just like how no-one has actually defeated him in any of the pokemon movies. Most of the movies with him ended draw against Mew, in Mewtwo Returns he ruined the machines and teleported Team Rocket away. And if Mega Mewtwo Y counts she calmed down the Red Genesect.

The announcement of the Paldea starters 7-Star raids means all starters now have a Mightiest raid. Not sure what will be great against Meowscarada but Skeledirge and Quaquaval have the potential to be very nasty pieces of work.

Edit: Meowscarada lacking Low Kick and only having one scripted Hone Claws made it quite manageable. Defeated it without too much difficulty with my Steel Tera Kingambit and caught it in a Friend Ball. Glad we have a fairly easy breather before a potential nightmare in Unaware Skeledirge.

well, since none of the Pokémon doesn't use the cloud service, the switches have their own save files. (2 versions each)

Beat the mightiest Meowsarada online. Played it defensively with Archaludon using Body Press, Dragon Cheer, Breaking Swipe and Reflect (held item light clay) with stamina and Stellar Terra type. Makes it much easier for the more offensively minded. Had an initial team of Poison Fezendipiti, Poison hisuian goodra and a Ceruledge. Have tested it with a much less defensive team and it still works.

tried using my body press Kommo-o against Meowscarada but got demolished by play rough and acrobatics, then just chucked my tera-bug Mew from the mighty Mewtwo raid at it and was done in half the time - swords dance and leech life

Mercifully having your ability turned off only comes into effect after the scripted stat clear + Hyper Voice so you can safely Protect after that. Defeated Skeledirge with Manaphy (Modest nature, EVs into Sp Attack and Sp Def) with Surf, Skill Swap, Protect and Take Heart holding a Shell Bell. Tail Glow is obviously faster but Take Heart offers a buffer from potential Shadow Ball Sp Def drops (Dirge eventually will prefer clicking Stomping Tantrum if you go for Take Heart). Caught Dirge in a Dream Ball.

Golduck is pretty much your best option if you don’t have Legends: Arceus, the move set of Dirge feels like a stealth Roy’s Fuecoco/Crocalor reference.

Beat Skeledirge online using Contrary Malamar, (Skill Swap, Tera Blast, Superpower and Light Screen). Skeledirge's torch song kept lowering his special attack.

had nothing that could take Skeledirge already on my boxes so I whipped out a quick tera-water Tentacruel (Clear Body, Modest, max EVs in SpAtk and SpDef, surplus in HP) with acid spray, surf, throat chop and rain dance. then I got online and ended up with 3 Kyogres as raid partners. caught Skeledirge in a Luxury Ball. maybe I'll try breeding it for a shiny some day

Slightly tweaked the EVs of my Stored Power Slowbro (shifting its HP EVs into Defense) and gave it Skill Swap. Moves for the first clear was Skill Swap, Iron Defense, Nasty Plot and Stored Power with a Shell Bell though I feel Nasty Plot may have to be dropped for Slack Off. You do need Regenerator as Own Tempo and Oblivious both grant in-built Intimidate immunity.

As for the Poke Ball the Lure Ball is a perfect match.

I also used a stored power Slowbro. It had stored power, iron defense, nasty plot and slack off. Of course the ability was oblivious and held a shell bell. I kept resetting partners until I had two intimidate partners. Once I got that, the dancing bird stood no chance.
