what does everyone want to happen between the two above events. I think he will be doing minor training before, during, and after the GF. Then go home now here is where my two ideas come in.

1. I want him to go home due to there being a huge time gap ( kanto like) to train. Gary will be home and help him train for the span. A few training fillers will be shown then the league will start.

2. Here will be the more exciting of the two. Ash will go home to train he sees his pokemon, sees gary, gary tells him he will train him. The episode goes black then shows ash waking up on a boat saying today is the opening ceremony for the league. Then there will be flashbacks and surprises for his teams going into each round. Maybe he uses noctowl as his first pokemon to start the league ( just a random pokemon) then it flashes back to his training with gary telling him that he needs to diversify his team in order to win. ( an example would be how ash beat him). All of his pokemon will have brand new moves besides maybe the sinnoh which would be done onscreen.

Well those are my two random speculation attempts what are everyone else

Well it has now been confirmed that Ash's grotel and monferno will evolve so i belive , grotel will evolve before the legaue and monferno in the league , and also ash will be doing some training before the league . And also some episodes that focus on Brock and maybe his pokemon (new capture, evolveing )
