A Black Dawn

Kawaii Kyuubi Kitsune

Kawai Nogitsune
It has been five hundred years. Five hundred years since the world was nearly overthrown by the greatest evil the world had ever known. It was an evil empire that stretched across the world; all under its reign were used as slaves or petty entertainment. So much fear was directed towards the empire that anything that went wrong or was evil was directly blamed on it without any requirement for proof. However, none dared speak such things for no hero who tried to overthrow it would ever be heard from again. Yet somehow the world slipped out of the grasp of the ruler of this empire, Natsukatu… it was indeed a wonder how the world escaped the grip of this cruel and malevolent empire.

No hero could stand in the path of Natsukatu - therefore, they couldn't have held a part in the fall. To most, the empire just collapsed. Bad luck - how else could all the terrible happenings be explained if the Natsukatu had lost the world to something else? But luck had little to do with what really happened. Few knew of the advisor the the vile lord, and those who did merely saw him as an ordinary kitsune who'd attained high rank via personal friendship with Natsukatu. People, for the most part, believed that he hadn't done anything. It was a regular day when this 'undeserving' kitsune, Quoward, vanished...

It took only a few weeks after his leaving for the effects of Quoward's hidden work to be felt. Few noticed when the planning behind the emipre's activities started to lack the same kind of subtlety. The ideas behind everything seemed good enough but their execution made them work no longer. It wasn't just flaws in all of his plans; Natsukatu became rash and irritable very quickly. His decisions were distorted, obviously over the loss of his friend and lack of someone he could confide in. That particular moment of weakness was all that was needed for the heroes to arise and free all of the suffering innocents beneath Natsukatu's hand. Despite this defeat, Natsukatu was far from dead, and his empire remained a dark, ominous shadow on the horizon.

~*~

Time passed. The resources of the nigh unchanged remains of the empire kept it running through the hard times it faced. Mad scientists had replaced careful alchemists; better medical technology had been invented, reducing henchmen death rates; but despite all of these progressions Natsukatu remained the ruler of them all. Many rumours had spread about how his longevity worked, but nothing was ever proven. However, there was a basic agreement between the few that knew select pieces of information about him that it was credited to his nekomata blood. But regardless of the rumors and agreements, all the fear left in the world of this previously dominant empire were the triggers or traces of the time of conflict between Natsukatu and the heroes…

… Then Quoward was recovered. It seemed, after nearly five hundred years, he had reappeared as mysteriously as he had vanished. Noticing Quoward had reappeared in a group of heroes and was being used as their pet, Natsukatu wanted answers. On the assault against these heroes, things didn’t go as planned as some of the heroes escaped. Still, Quoward was recovered and didn’t seem too badly brainwashed, though no answers to what happened were forth coming. None of the heroes captured and kept alive for a short time knew who Quoward was, and Quoward only could remember fragments of his past, though barely hesitated when it came to rejoining Natsukatu. No permanent harm done, so no need to hunt down those other heroes straight away.

Present day: Another moment of weakness for the empire is nigh. Natsukatu is dying, his great power failing him. Hidden in the depths of secrecy, he tried to hide his illness; but everyone knows down to the lowest of minions that such a thing can never be kept hidden. No one has yet to be declared his successor, it is merely the most major time consuming thing he does, to think about it. It is even believable that it’ll wait till his last faint words that only one person will hear… If only the enviable conflict between the elite of the empire over trying to fake being appointed the successor wouldn’t make it easier for the heroes that are circling like vultures, waiting for a chance to steal the glory of ending Natsukatu’s reign once and for all.

Brief explanation of the inner works of Natsukatu’s empire:
*Being such a large organisation Natsukatu did not give orders directly. People were appointed on working on certain projects, resources sent to them according to how valuable their work was at that time. Mainly think of the empire as a place for a villain to go for funding, minions, test subjects (There is a section who’s sole task is to kidnap decent test subjects), and advanced technology to be evil with. In return the sadistic Natukatu only requested
*Being that decent mad scientists who can bend the laws of nature and physics are rare, they rarely get to hold the world hostage with their doomsday machines. Instead this task is put down to the more expendable and more durable henchmen who actually have a degree in science… just in case some heroes turn up to ruin everything, of course.
*One does not normally choose to join the empire, usually they are recruited due to their past deeds. There are acceptations, as with anything, but those people tend to only get very low quality positions or extremely high ones.
*Most of the more major bases for Natsukatu’s people are legally owned under fake names and rarely used for anything other than safe houses (Or people they don’t think anyone is coming for, like homeless people or masked heroes). These are kept extremely secret for the safety of al villains involved. This RPG will take place mainly in the most secret of these.

Sign up form:
The lack of personality section is deliberate.
Name: (Preferably something creative)
Gender: (If applicable)
Age: (Using mental age instead of physical age is acceptable)
Species: (Preferable if players stuck to humans and mythical creatures, instead of modern creations, though some exceptions will be allowed. Species is only probably constant, things could happen to change it)
Position: (Sum up what your character is/does at the start of the RPG, things like mad scientist, loyal (Or disgruntled) henchman, weapon’s tester, etc are acceptable though being creative here is not discouraged. Remember this may change through out the RPG, though if it does you will only be expected, not required, to update your character sign up)
Description: (A full description of the character, remembering appearance isn’t necessarily everything. You will not be penalised for keeping it just visual, though being creative and stretching out into out things like aura, scent, common body language, etc is recommended)
Strengths: (What strengths does the character have to put them above average humans? Please use mental, physical, and supernatural (If applicable) traits please. Some things may need an explanation)
Weaknesses: (What weaknesses hinder the character and hold them back? As strengths, use mental, physical, and supernatural (if applicable) traits.)
Quirks: (Optional: Mental, physical, and/or supernatural traits of the character that are unlikely to ever be a strength or a weakness)
Past exploits: (Major deeds committed in the past that could possible give a reputation. A full history is not required, though would be accepted in this section)
Expectations: (Optional: What do you expect from this RPG?)

Sample RPG: (I will PM the requirements to those who sign up for the sample RPG post, it may be different for each person. It will be up to the person whether to edit the sample post in; with the requirements they were given to give context, or merely PM the sample to me. Do not beg to be allowed to skip this, or I may try to send something difficult)

Things to note:
*Conflict between players due to the need for a successor is not required; depending on what is placed in the position section aiming to be the next ruler of the empire might be an impossible/unlikely goal.
*Some people do not like their character’s being bunnyed. Do not do so without permission.
*I will likely only be taking a game master position in this RPG, with Natsukatu and Quoward being merely major NPCs.
*If there are any plot points anyone wants to explore in this RPG, then PM me about it. I’ll most likely give permission to those wanting to run a side plot, or to run a suggested side plot myself, though asking is still important.
*Please do not metagame. There are things characters wouldn’t know, only those high up in the empire, or just servants serving in the right place, would know what exactly Natsukatu or Quoward are. Likewise characters almost certainly do not know the strengths or weaknesses of other characters, unless they’ve worked together for sometime or it is something really obvious (Like being a vampire).
*Being evil and villainous is recommended, villains’ fighting against each other just happens when they have something to prove, especially in situations like this. Still, no going out of your way to attempt to put another character in a situation where death is certain if they don’t powerplay without a good reason why your character would do such a thing. Likewise, accept the fact you may need to come up with a replacement character partway through the RPG if you completely annoy another player’s character.

This RPG is a spin off of a pen and paper RPG run using the ‘Truth and Justice’ system run by a guy named Morgue. Still, please note all NPCs are still my creations except for Natsukatu, who was created by this Morgue guy.

Right, this looks like fun. I'll join up. Here's my character's stats:

Name: Tony the Terrible (last part optional)

Gender: Male
Physical age: 44
Mental age: 3

Species: Originally human, but Tony has been tinkering with his source code, ie. DNA, and now has quite a few add-ons that make him, strictly speaking, no longer human.

Position: Eccentric Technologist

Description: Of deceptively average height, Tony at first glance doesn't strike one as being all that odd. He wears a suit of moderate quality, and a trenchcoat. His hair is of medium length, and parted at one side. His appearance is synonymous of that of a good-natured bank manager. Crack a joke, and he will laugh pleasantly, with a twinkle in his eye.

Underneath this veneer of tranquility, though, lie surprises. His trenchcoat is made of carbon nanotubes, and can withstand a comet impact.

Now, it is important to understand that certain rules exist in the universe, which may be considered the physical equivalent of mathematical axioms. The Schrödinger Equation. The Uncertainty Principle. That sort of thing. However, up until about 25 years ago, no scientist in history had ever stumbled upon what could be considered the greatest axiom of them all: Never Piss Tony Off.

Just why this is a universal axiom will be revealed later.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Tony is a scientist. An exceptionally good one. All his life he's made it a habit to tinker with the fabric of reality. His main field is plasma physics, but also has a working knowledge of electronics, genomics and computer science. On a whim he once combined these skills to make a fully functional and full sized replica of Mechagodzilla in the main science labs of Natsukatu's citadel. It went insane after approximately seven minutes, as Tony's creations tend to do, decimated Natsukatu's elite bodyguard, leapt the walls, launched itself into the air, crop-dusted laughing gas over approximately one sixth of the planet from orbit, and crashed in central Siberia. It now serves as a bus in Stockholm, Sweden.

Two of the most obvious traits that one enhances whilst performing self-genetic engineering are intelligence and physical strength. Tony has attempted both, with mixed results. When the urge takes him, he can lift and throw busses, but given that he neglected to also enhance his skeleton, this typically results in a broken back, as Tony has found the hard way several times. Intelligence enhancement was slightly more successful, giving Tony the ability to compute pi in his head to seven million decimal places, but an unforseen side effect was to reduce his maturity and emotional intelligence to that of a three-year-old. If he wants to know the time of day, he can engineer a fantastically precise atomic clock from materials you'd find in the gutter, but is unable to simply ask a stranger the time. Strange but true.

I'd better emphasise the fact that Tony's main weakness is his low mental age. This means that he uses his exceptional intellect and strength with very low efficiency, thus bringing the effective average levels of both down to something approaching normality. Flashes of brilliance do show, but only at the most inconvenient times.

Quirks: Enjoys constructing copies of Mechagodzilla. Can recite Lord of the Rings from memory. Wears a pirate costume on national holidays. Has a secret moon base. Until recently, had a secret sun base.

Past Exploits: Tony wrote the notorious computer virus known as The Holiday Generator, which caused a total communications breakdown across the entire Earth for a period of seven months. During this time, due to a total absence of information, every area more than 100km wide thought that every other area on Earth had broken away from Natsukatu's empire, causing a planetwide civil war in which the armies of every side launched themselves at each other, each screaming "Separatist scum!". After communications were restored, a period of embarrased ultra-patriotism followed, each area attempting to outdo its neighbours to show its loyalty to Natsukatu, and forget the recent past. Military budgets ballooned. Of course this has nothing to do with Tony then finally receiving the gigantic funding levels he'd been requesting for years for his cybernetics laboratory.

The next day, the first Mechagodzilla emerged, smoking one of Tony's foot-long novelty cigars.

Tony, when tinkering with novel forms of antimatter propulsion, once accidentally piloted one of his prototype antimatter-propelled spacecraft into the Sun, blowing both up. Within six minutes, he managed to replace the absent Sun with a black hole of solar mass, and an orbiting incandescent fusion reactor. These mimicked the Sun's gravitational and luminous properties, thus returning events in the Solar System to normal. Besides, the population of Earth was distracted by the wonderful sunsets caused by the solar nebula thrown off in the shockwave - except for solar astronomers, who were perplexed and befuddled at the fact that the Sun now appeared to be a point source. Tony has a habit of sending insulting messages to them* in Morse code when they turn their instruments on the Sun, by turning the solar fusion reactor on and off remotely.

*Tony hates solar astronomers. This is related to the Axiom, detailed earlier in the post.

La Melancolie Noir
I spent about half an hour just thinking about which character to RP here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: Nettle (pronounced NET-tul-lee)
Gender: Female
Physical Age: 124
Mental Age: Something in the late twenties
Species: Elf
Position: Henchman (or henchwoman, as I should say), who is just loyal enough to not be suspected a traitor
Description: Nettle is a little over four feet tall, her figure quite slim and attractive, her skin a pale shade so as to not contrast her hair too much. Speaking of which, her hair at a glance seems to be white, but it has hints of a yellowish-green tint. It is kind of straight and is about shoulder-length. Her eyes are a light green in colour, and that combined with all the above features suggests an aura of calmness and respect. As for attire, she wears a shirt with long, loose sleeves and a colour that kind of matches her hair. She also wears a skirt that is a darker green in colour, has golden trim along the bottom, and is just long enough to cover her knees. Below that are beige boots that look soft and made of some sort of fur. Also she wears a brown belt from which a sword is held, a sword with a blade made of some sort of pale green crystal rather than metal. And don't forget the most important thing of all: a necklace consisting of a clear sphere with a glowing green pixie (yes, it's alive) enclosed inside it. (The pixie's name is Sumetre.)
Nettle travels a lot, but she doesn't really carry much with her; she just seems to "take what nature provides". This is just as well, as she tends not to look to technology as much.
Strengths: Nettle has good intuition and hearing, being an elf. This also means that she has quite a bit of potential for using magic, which she often does with either Sumetre or her sword. And she's a pretty good fighter though she doesn't take much delight in warding off enemies, especially considering the fact that her reflexes are quite a bit faster than those of the average human. And if she just want to escape from danger, she can do so kind of easily, as she can run pretty fast.
Weaknesses: Other than the part about the running, Nettle doesn't have much physical strength. She's also physically fragile, especially considering her size and species. Also, she has close to no familiarity with technology, so she won't know what to do with a technological weapon handed to her. And, she prefers to work alone, so she often has to deal with being outnumbered. Also, if she's hurt mentally or emotionally, it takes her quite a long time to recover...
Quirks: She's able to talk to animals--whether that's anything special is an issue...
Past Exploits: In her early life, Nettle did everything she could to keep away from the empire, just staying in her home, the Mystic Star Forest. There she was respected as a "friend of the forest" and even once helped to save the forest from a flock of harpies that had come from another forest and ended up doing harm to the Mystic Star. The other six people that took part in this "harpy hunt" soon became sort-of close friends with Nettle.
But at one point, a group of weapon testers decided to use the desert to the south of Mystic Star Forest as an area to test weapons. In doing so, they killed nearly all of the lions which dwelled there, and drove nearly everyone in nearby villages out, causing them to migrate to faraway areas. Some were killed in the shockwaves caused by some weapons as well. Nettle was one of the very few who stayed in the area.
Since that migration, Nettle had ideas to either defeat the empire or change it. So it was then that she started initiating herself into tthe empire, eventually becoming a henchman. Her main duty was to ward off the heroes--well, this really shaped Nettle's goal.
Nettle is currently known for both her secret protection of her home base in the forest, as well as for defeating some of those who wished to defeat the empire.
Expectations: To sum it all up, Nettle will be trying to obtain a position of power in the empire--she wants to free it of its evil ways and make the world a better and safer place. I may decide to put one of her old friends into this as well...
OK, now all I have to do is wait for the RPG sample format. And I'm not going to add much more tonight as it is late and I need to get up early tomorrow.
Pi_neutrino: You seem to of had trouble placing information in the most appropriate section of your sign up and the character does seem to lack any real weakness. Having a low mental age isn’t that much of a disadvantage at all, as Tony is more than capable of doing anything hence a low mental age just alters his goals. Plus description is meant only for physical appearance and other such identification things, not detailing character capabilities. Finally it has been five hundred years since Natsukatu’s empire has actually held dominion over people on a whole, at which stage there wasn’t much technology unlike there is present day in this game, hence making that past exploit completely invalid.
I’m sure you’ll be able to fix the problems before the RPG starts, and you did do reasonable quality and quantity for the sign up on a whole. I will PM you the details on the sample RPG soon, as I’m sure you will get in after your next edit.
Kiruria: Good to see the first real mythology based character is of a species I’ve heard of. You character sign it is almost perfect, so you will be accept upon completing the sample RPG requirement that I’ll PM to you, though as tradition I have to criticize at least something about your sign up.
Lion do not live in deserts; they live in savannahs, which are dry grasslands, often confused with a desert, and the difference being it does occasionally rain in savannahs.
Defender of Justice
Name: Armoury
Gender: male
Age: 25
Species: Human Mutant - until he uses his powers, Armoury is a normal human
Position: Bounty Hunter
Description: Standing nearly 7 feet tall, few know what truly lurks beneath the shell. When not using his powers, Armoury disguises himself with a moth-eaten navy blue cloak which conceals most of his features, and a wide-brimmed hat, pulled down to hide his face in shade. His dark brown hair sticks out in clumps either side of the hat, with a large amount sticking out of the back.
However, when pursuing a target of those affluent enough to afford his services, Armoury becomes another being entirely. Though his powers offer infinite possibilities, the image which strikes fear into criminals across the Empire is the chrome-covered, robotic soldier persona Armoury has created for himself. From head to toe, he is decked out in shiny metal armour, impenetrable for all small arms fire. On his back are twin rocket boosters, enabling him to fly short distances and upon his shoulders rest twin laser cannons, capable of levelling buildings.
Strengths: Armoury has the ability to generate any form of weaponry and armour from the past, present and future and use it - the metals used emerge instantly through his pores, though this is a relatively painless process. The generated weapons can range from simple daggers to tanks. In addition, Armoury can use his powers to generate impenetrable shield walls, though these usually only remain for a few seconds.
Weaknesses: Despite his great strengths, Armoury has one great weakness - using his powers drains his life energy, so he can only use thm for a short while before being forced to rest. In his usual suit of armour, he can remain in this form for up to 2 hours, but if he generates larger items such as vehicles, these only survive for around 10 minutes.
In addition, due to his wandering nature, Armoury is loyal to none but himself - his services are open to the highest bidder and no more. As a result, he almost always works alone and is distrusted by all.
Past exploits: The victim of the final stage of a scientist's experiment, Armoury was injected with huge levels of the liquid form of the rare metal Armora - nearly the planet's entire stock - and implants were set in his brain which allowed him to control the metals with a form of Esp. Originally intended as the first of a new breed of super-policeman, Armoury went berserk and destroyed the lab, escaping after killing his creators.
Later discovering the extent of his new abilities, Armoury chose a life of bounty hunting, swiftly becoming one of the most notorious and expensive bounty hunters in the Empire. Despite his recent decision to go into retirement, the current unrest has prompted the young mutant to return to his favourite sport: hunting.
Expectations: An RPG that won't die, which has lots of input from the creator - far too many RPGs die because the characters are waiting to be told what to do.
Explanation: Armora
An extremely rare metal, Armora is usually found only in its natural liquid form. However, a scientist working for the Empire learnt that by using brain implants which gave the user a form of psychic powers, the metal could be manipulated and turned into solid forms. In later experiments, it was discovered that the metal could also be used to create guns capable of releasing beams of light which could cut through anything. Despite many attempts, the metal could never be coaxed into creating devices which required fuel, though this was rectified when fuel was poured into a large tub lined with Armora, which itself was allowed to liquify into the fuel. For a short time, fuel-using devices could be used, though the fuel eventually ran out, requiring the process to be repeated periodically.
squirtleking: Your character does seem quite overpowered at first glance, though I suppose if he works for money instead of loyalty then being easily bribed with anything of reasonable value could be added to his weaknesses to balance it out. The ability to control metal isn't explained perfectly, especially since controlling metal wouldn't allow him to simply create limitless metal things, as the metal has to come from somewhere (The normal human body only contains enough iron for about one nail if I remember correctly, changing the amount is also dangerous: too much is toxic, too little would cause rapid death as iron is needed to keep oxygen in blood. Perhaps his skeleton being reinforced by some special unreactive metal {possibly mithral, as it works well with unnatural forces hence easier to use} would give him something to work with though). Also metal manipulation would not make creation of lasers and stuff possible, as such things are made from more than just metal: you need a power source for most things, and for lasers you actually need some sort of special focusing crystal, guns and rockets requires some combustible material to produce the force to work. Finally your sign up is kinda hard to read due to lack of spaces between sections and no marking for the label for each section, though this one problem has no relevance to you being accepted or not.
I would send you the sample RPG requirements anyway, though there is a complication, which I'll explain later, that stops me. I'm sure you'll be able to fix the flaws in the sign up easily enough and get accept to this RPG.
Tomorrow I have an end of year exam in the afternoon. This prevents me from working on the sample RPG requirements to send to people due to me needing to study. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience.
I've edited the signup and added a rough explanation of the abilities of the metal.
The Burnt Shadow
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
Name: Xevestivus
Gender: male
Age: 25
Species: half human, half demon
Position: traitor, an ex-soldier of Natusukatu
Description: Xevestivus, is a young man with snowy white hair and a burning red color in his eyes. He wears a bodyfit sleeveless dead red shirt and tight fingerless black gloves. The gloves are designed with a metal plate on the knuckles and also have a metal ring around the wrists. He wear plain black pants with no special design or feature. He also wears a red sash around his waist that acts as a belt. His choice of weapon are swords. He carries a single katana on his back and a knife in his belt, but the knife's only used if he loses his sword. He also wears a plack mark printed on his back. This black mark is the symbol of his half demon within. He is ussually seen with a blank glare. The expressions you'll ussually find on his face would be an annoyed stare, a small smirk and just a slightly suprised face gesture. As a final accessory, he wears a string necklace that holds a bloody wedding ring, but this doesn't mean he was married or engaged though.
Strenghts: Naturally, he would have above human abilities such as superhuman strenght and speed. Unfortunately, because of his human gene, these powers were corrupted leaving him only with a great sense of hearing and longivety. Another thing is that he can't age because of this mark. Because of these flaws, he decided to learn an average ability that deals with the mind. He practicied how to move, lift and push objects with his mind. This was the only psychic ability he learned, he doesn't know how to read people's thoughts, see the future and let his mind move around to see what's going on in other places. He is also talented with using the katana and fist fighting
Weaknesses: His basic weakness would be trying to fight in far distances. Even though he can lift objects with his mind, he can't do lift objects that are quite far. His psychic ability also requires a great deal of concentration and self confidence, it'll be extremely difficult if he's stressed. It could give him a major headache if he continues to use his powers when stressed, this could even kill him. His biggest weakness would have to be falling in love, he fears that if he learns to love someone, he might lose them. So he tries to stay away from people he's attracted to or are attracted to him. His weak point would have to be the mark on his back. His demon gene has given him so little and it has given him a giant weak point. If any part of this mark was struck by something physical, he would easily fall to his knees.
Past exploits: Xevestivus, was a former merchant and mercinary of Natusukatu. He ussually arrived if he was summoned, especially if he gets paid. Most of Natusukatu's court men have grown frustrated with his attitude of only obeying Natusukatu. He is ussually seen in many battles that included defending the empire and the items that were being imported. He was soon sent on a mission to protect these powerful weapons and items being sent into the empire, but heroes soon attacked him and the items being sent. He was able to handle most of them with his sword fighting ability and his telekinetic powers. Unfortunately while fighting, he found one of Natusukatu's court fighting by their side. He was instantly struck down since he was attacked on his weak spot. He instantly fell unconscious, because of this.
He soon found himself in the dungeon, under the order of Natusukatu. Reason, was treason. One of the officials stated that he was siding with the heroes and he stopped him, before he could get away. Natusukatu believed this, not only because he was informed by his most loyal official, but also because he always had suspicion about Xevestivus. Xevestivus now rots away in a far isolated prison where his telekinetic abilities have been blocked. Xevestivus is now hoping for vengace against Natusuaktu's court, the heroes and Natusukatu himself, for believing that he was a traitor.
Expectations: Xevestivus will be trying to conquer the empire, but before that, he would try to destroy the heroes. He will be trying to kill anyone who gets in his way or is loyal to the heroes or to the empire. Plus, I'm hoping he would find someone that can touch his heart and make him go through several difficulties.
Hope it's okay. I love playing roles of insane and villainous characters. Was a villain in almost every RPG played...
Gah. Sorry for the long delay, Kyuubi; but I've finally got it done. Hope its not THAT overpowered. ><;
Name: Lucifer Leonheart
Gender: Male
Age: 333
Species: Vampire, Median, Nosferatu, Undead Bloodsucker… yeah, that’s about it. XD
Position: Mercenary/Replacement Captain
Description: Residing in his original fifteen-year-old form (and seemingly never getting bored of it), Lucifer has bright, unruly and very messy flaming red hair the trademark pale skin, bright red eyes (with a scar slashing downwards on his right one), and a strong build, all muscle and whipcord sinew; shown by the measly unbuttoned shirt he wears. The shirt has rolled up sleeves that are a dark maroon in color and has a ruffled collar. He wears a pair of black jeans made from a leathery-cloth-like material, which is flexible yet shine distinctly when under light. For footwear, he ops for a pair of jet-black sandals with blood-red stripes. Lucifer dons a pair of fingerless black gloves and also has a golden charm with a gold-carved ‘L’ on it slung around his neck. Being very protective of his last domain, the vampire’s coffin –jet-black with a velvet red inning and blood red linings at the edges- goes around almost everywhere he goes, usually wrapped in bandages and slung over his shoulder and his back, a thick leather strap over his torso and up his shoulder.
For his weapon, Lucifer wields a custom-made bayonet; named ‘Bayonet R. Kortez’. The uniqueness of the design of his weapon his that the blade of it is drafted on the back of the weapon, shaped as a lightning-shaped bolt. The handle is covered with blood-red plastic, beautifully engraved with an abstract yet beautiful flowery design. Made of black gunmetal, two barrels –the above one shorter than the latter- stick out from the equally black bandana tied around the barrels. The slide is made at the center, and the name ‘KORTEZ’ is engraved onto the bottom of the slide. With a weight of 27 kilograms and an approximate length of 113 centimeters, only the immortal is truly entitled to wield this weapon – humans would get their hands blasted off with the 13mm, custom armor-piercing rounds used for this monstrous weapon.
With magical creatures, Lucifer is usually noted as ‘a boy with a strange, dark aura’. Many others are usually rather astonished by the boy’s young look (after all, he looks 15) The boy usually doesn’t bother to notice, given his carefree nature, and has quite a bit of accent in his voice. The vampire also has a painful, undying habit of swiping up anything that catches his eye and also usually shoots his mouth off before thinking. Usually looking slow and dim-witted, the boy has knowledge that far surpasses any human due to his curse and gift of immortality.
Strengths: Being a Nosferatu, Lucifer has the standard, classic abilities almost all books and notes about Medians include: Brute Strength, Super Speed, Lightning Reflexes and so on and so forth. His most commonly used power is his power of shadow (Shadow Manipulation); able to control the shades anyway he wants (tuning them solid, trapping people/stuff etc.) with the most minimal usage of power due to his long usage over the shades. He also can teleport instantly, although it requires a lot of concentration as he has only recently acquired this power. He also is able to use telekinesis, hypnosis, other mind abilities and mainly telepathy over great distances and sometimes uses this power to control others, although it is rare, perhaps even non-existent for him to do such a thing.
Weaknesses: Lucifer does not die under sunlight, but it locks up a vast majority of his powers and gives him a splitting headache, so he rarely ventures out into the sun. He is also bonded tight with his coffin, for if his last domain in destroyed in anyway, the boy is killed as well (hence his protectiveness of the coffin). The boy is also partially weak to sliver and blessed items, the wounds caused by them regenerating at a far slower pace that normal. He detests garlic (although it has no effect on him, he simply hates the stench) and has a very soft spot for eggs. It is yet not seen weather the boy can be killed by a stake to the heart of having his head cut off, as usually no one has survived after finding out his true identity (with the exception of his employers). There are also times when the Median gets too excited by the kills, and loses his hold of reality, going into his ‘berserker’ state. In this state, the vampire just attacks anyone, be it friend or foe. It usually takes for sometime to wear out, but along the three centuries of his life, the boy has managed to rein in this dangerous state somewhat.
Quirks: His absurd sense of humor, and usually sounds out strange questions towards himself or towards nobody in particular. It’s also noted that the boy speaks quite a variety of other languages as well; Japanese, Chinese, French and even German to name a few. ><;
Past exploits: Born in a time where peace still reigned and happiness was abound, Lucifer had lived a not-so-pleasant life from day one of his life. Found abandoned at the doorsteps of an orphanage, the boy grew up in a very rough environment compared to the merry life outside the walls of cold prison and torture that was the orphanage. Taunted and teased by the other orphans due to his eccentric looks, Lucifer was soon devoured of every positive feeling he had. Turning to the life of a loner, the boy soon exchanged his warm heart for one of stone and lived, only to see the day where he would get out of that hellhole.
However, at the age of twelve, a few days before the day where he would be thrown out of the place or sent into a factory or elsewhere for slavery… a fire broke out in the place. The orphanage was burnt down, and no one lived through the incident. However, Lucifer was ‘saved’ when an ancient curse within him started, turning him into a vampire. Surprised by this sudden turn of events, the boy then had to slowly adjust to his new lifestyle. From there he became a traveler, constantly exploring the world in his travels. Later the boy also started stealing all in the name for his daily bread. But then he stole an item of great value from a well-known group of mercenaries called the ‘Wild Geese’. After a few misadventures, the boy joined the team and worked there for the next few years until they were wiped out one day during a mission.
Almost half the group was obliterated, along with the Captain. The Median then took the head and through the next century, made themselves the most famous and feared mercenaries in the world. Their shouts of fame and fortune soon reached the ears of Natsukatu, and the empire lord summoned them to a mission far away, with promises of great riches when they succeeded. They left… never to return until half a century ago… but it was only Lucifer himself who returned. Natsukatu could not remember the red-haired Median, so the simple-minded vampire offered his services to the lord in exchange for his food and lodgings whenever he needed. Natsukatu agreed to those terms, and thus began the vampire’s service to the lord until today.
And because you asked, his familiar:
Name: Lucied. Just Lucied.
Gender: No one actually knows, but Lucied claims he's a... well, he. ><;
Age: Unknown
Species: Familiar/Wolf Demon
Position: Servant to Lucifer
Description: Lucied's a huge black wolf the size of an adult male tiger, and has seven blood-tipped spikes are seen bursting out from the back of his head, and the wolf actually has three sets of teeth, which usually makes the wolf’s grin rather unnerving. His claws - big, shiny and ivory white – are retractable and so are usually hidden until Lucied decides to unleash them, which turns out to be quite usual. His tail is tufted and also tipped blood red at the end. His paws are very lean and muscular, giving the wolf a very unnerving and terrifying look altogether, which says almost all about the wolf. At times, Lucied also turns into a large-sized silver timber wolf in order to blend with the crowd when necessary.
Strengths: The wolf has strength that far surpasses Lucifer due to the fact that he dosen't have much abilities. Besdies being able to turn into his eatheral form, he also can turn invisble, and teleporting is no problem for him. The link between familiar and vampire is strong, so they can communicate telepathically and can feel what the other feels. Lucied also can command shadows to an extent, even being able to compose his own body out of shadows (and thus not suffer damage from any physcial blows), but he is not as adept as Lucifer, as the wolf perfers to work with his strength. His forte, however, his being able to possess humans, although he has a certain resentment for doing so, and so dosen't use it often.
Weaknesses: Being bonded to the vampire, the familiar is unable to control his master's besersk state, as the wolf himself falls into the alluring cry of blood and death. He has a deadly thing about silver, and usually takes a very long time to plug up the wounds he receives from them. Blessed items usually only repels instead of wounding, and Lucied usually lets his scarsam get the better of him.
Quirks: Lucied usually taunts his foes in a battle, and at times get a little too annoying for Lucifer to handle, in which both result in a verbal battle. Luckily, it hasn;t eveolved to a physcial yet.
Expectations: Hopefully, there’ll be a steady plot, or a least a brief outline of the RP in general for the RPers to have common ground to work towards. Hopefully this RP won’t die as well, for I can see great potential in this. ^^
Sample RPG: Err... Uneeded... ><;
Squirtleking: I still think your character is extremely overpowered. In my opinion all character should have a weakness that would allow them to be beaten without requiring an entire army. I have found out in past RPGs that allowing characters that don’t have such a weakness results in rapid escalation between multiple characters like that, ruining the entire fun of the RPG for everyone else. This is not an RPG with power capabilities anything like DBZ, being able to cause mass destruction with ease isn’t meant to be within the capabilities of characters, even if your character isn’t modified you’d have to think about how much fuel would be required to power those laser cannons and rocket boosters, as no fuel contains the sort of energy to do too much plus all decent fuels are highly toxic, plus there is the fact of the side effect of producing a lot of heat, which would also be harmful (Metals are excellent conductors of heat, so shielding himself with metal wouldn’t quite work). Please think the details of your character over some more, I’ll send you the sample RPG requirement as soon as I can as seeing how you’d actual act in an RPG is far more important than the rest of the sign up.
Sorry I didn’t say this earlier, it was more to do with being stressed with exams than the clumped up nature your sign up used to have.
The Burnt Shadow: Opinion from first glance at character sign up: He must of been named by the demon one of his parents. The sign up is great apart from the occasional grammar and spelling mistake (Which are barely noticeable), and he fits into an excellent position in the RPG. I would like to talk to you sometime to get a better idea of the character, hence an idea whether he could of actually been framed or whether it was all a misunderstanding, for future plot reason. I’ll send you the sample RPG requirements within 12 hours.
Knightblazer: It would be nice if you detailed the familiar in a separate sign up form. Still, I think Mr Leonheart(I must comment that I don’t like the first name, though it is still acceptable) would be a perfect person to of taken the job of poor Xevestivus (See sign up above yours) for plot reasons, as Natsukatu still needs a top henchman that answers only to him. Linking together characters in the big picture should help make sure everyone knows their place. Finally no matter what you should be made aware nether Natsukatu nor Quoward would be too comfortable about having that wolf familiar around, just telling you as it is best that this one point isn’t a surprise. Since I’ve seen this exact same character in action in one of my past RPGs I have decided not to ask for a sample from you, so technically this character is now the first to be fully accepted (Many others just need to do the sample once I’ve PMed them).
Rane
Really?
This sounds really interesting, although I'm still a bit confused, but I'll get it. One thing though, in what kind of universe is this? I mean, humans, elves, vampires, mutants... It's like a party and everyone is invited.
Don't bash my grammar. I'm not brittish/american and it's very, very late.
Sign up form:
Name: Rane. That's what he calls himself.
Gender: Male
Age: 28.
Species: Homo Superior (going a bit X-Men here, but he is a human that has developed certain abilites through evolution and I'm too lazy to come up with an own name for it now anyway)
Position: Assassin. If one had to chose a side, it would be more to the villainous side as Rane does things his own way and teamwork isn't his thing.
Description: As a human being, Rane doesn't have any really outstanding attributes such as being over 5 feet tall or having purple hair that strecthes to his knees. But this is also a part of his work as an assassin. I mean, how easy is it to sneak around when you're as tall as a house? Rane is about 6'0, has semi long, dark hair (resembling the young man in my avatar) and a rather good physique. I mean, the guy can't lift a mountain but why would he even need too. Rane stays in the shadows. Oh and don't expect a smile from him as he isn't the cheeriest cat in the bunch. He makes money, not friends.
The attire is loosely based off the Assassins from the Fire Emblem games on the GameBoy Advance (7 and 8 in the series). Sleeveless shirt, dark pants and shoes and a dark cape.
e.g:http://www.freewebs.com/the_dragons_gate/Matthew - Large image.jpg
http://feonline.simgames.net/media2/albums/userpics/10002/Jaffar.png
A person who has the power of detecting certain oddities would surely notice the powerful aura that Rane emits - or the aura that his ability emits - although it doesn't visually show when he's sneaking around.
Strengths: Rane has the ability of psionically generate and manipulate heat and thus mainly, fire. It has it's limits but he has trained his ability since he discovered it's potential and has improved greatly from the time he developed it. He's also fully resistant to heat. He rarely uses his ability in the open though, mainly because...
Weaknesses: ...whenever he starts to use his pyrokinetic abilites at a large scale, his calm and strategic mind takes a complete turn and he gets rash and unpredictable and because of his normal body structure, taking him out proves to be alot easier. Infact because of his body structure, taking him out isn't hard at all, even when he's more calm. His resistance to heat also means he's very vulnerable to cold. He can warm himself when traveling but if he was captured and put in a cold room, he would eventually die.
Quirks: I don't think there are any.
Past exploits: Rane has never been a man of fame and glory. He'd rather just do his job, get paid and dissapear into the shadows. He has quite a list of names on his concience but almost none of real importance. Just recently has he started to take jobs on bigger names because of him constantly improving his skills.
Expectations: The variety of characters in this RPG is quite big ranging from humans to elves and demons so I expect quite an interesting dialogue to follow. The story seems to be quite alright aswell, although I might have to read it through a couple of more times before I fully understand it.
Oh and excuse me if my character are completely out of line from what you're looking for here. It's 1AM in the morning and I might've misunderstood some things :D
Rane: I understand the species thing, and thinking about it how would anyone be completely certain that his abilities are from evolution (Random mutations, if beneficial organism survives to reproduce) which instead of a distant forgotten (Dormant till him) bloodline in his ancestry? That’s just something to think about, as I highly doubt it will be of any relevance in the RPG at all why he’s got his abilities, its simply genetic. As you are unsure about the setting, think fantasy type world then add hundreds of years to develop technology. Overall, I like your character, though you might want to PM me some questions to get a better idea where your character fits in, and I’ll send you sample RPG requirements soon.
Sorry for the delay sending out sample requirements, they’ll be sent as soon as possible.
Name:Sakratu barguest
gender:Male
age:25
species:Human by day,werewolf by night.
position:Elite soldier(day)/beserker(night) of Natsukatu's army.
Description:Sakratu is 5'0" and has brown hair.He almost always wears his armor by day,being a well known soldier he could get assasinated at any time.His Armor is full body armor that is black with some crevices that glow blue.However at night,he sheds his armor revealing tattered clothes underneath,and becomes a werewolf.In this form he is 5'7" standing up straght but seems shorter because he's bent down.His fur is all black and his eyes are pure yellow.
Strengths:As a human Sakratu is skilled with swords and he is a brilliant stratagist who knows how and when to attack.As a werewolf he has the normal smelling power of a wolf,allowing him to find targets easly.Unlike most werewolves he does not have to wait for the full moon to appear in the sky,but can change every night,he also has enhanced strength and speed.However these enhancements were from Natsukatu's experiments on him.
Weaknesses:As a human Sakratu is slow and because he is weighed down with armor he get tired very easly if you are fighting him the time to strike would be when he stops to catch a breath.As a werewolf Destro can be killed or repeled by one thing,silver.Touching it kills him,and even being close to it sickens him.His extreme weakness of silver comes from the experiments as well but also from a developed phobia.He is also less intelligent in his werewolf state.
Quirks:Sakratu has a habit of standing in one place just zoneing out when not in battle usually when he is thinking hard about somthing,also he is very loud and yells a lot.When he is a werewolf he will howl only when he has just transformed,is about to transform back,and when he has killed someone.
Past exploits/history:Sakratu got bit by another werewolf at 14 this was also the time when he joined Natsukatu's army.When it was found out he was a werewolf he was exparamented on,enhancing his abilities making him stronger faster and giving him no wait for transformation.However his weakness to silver also increased with each genetic mutation,over time he developed a phobia of it making it seem even more dangerous to him.Also he is known as one of Natsukatu's most loyal soldiers killing off many rebelions.
Expectations:I would like to see an RPG with interesting characters, a facinating story,and that will last and won't die out.
Yeah I know I have bad grammar.But another reason is that some of me keyboard buttons are broke.But I like the idea of this RPG!
Really?
Well, that was quite positive. Fantasy and technology, yeah I get it. It's not Lord of the Rings nor the Matrix. It's somewhere in between :D
Eagerly awaiting your requirements PM.
Krug: You will need to do a lot of explaining, as your character is very different from a normal werewolf. Transformation for werewolves is usually only on nights around the full moon, or times of heightened emotion according to some myths. Speed and strength are normal for a werewolf, but enhanced eyesight is quite far from accurate: True, werewolves see in the dark better than humans, but not by much. He vulnerability to silver is a bit more extreme than a normal werewolf’s, which would need to be explained too.
Also you will really need to think of a different name, as the one you picked is really inappropriate for a werewolf. Overall, the sign up is also a bit too brief, plus the grammar problems are boarding on unacceptable. Sorry, but you have a lot of work to do on the sign up before I can ask you for a sample.
Rane: It was late at night and hence I forgot to think of something negative to say. Can’t be bothered thinking of something now just to continue that stupid tradition of mine.
Fixed...just in case I need to fix it again can I reserve a spot?
(Note that barguest is the name of the ghost dog that is said to roam alleyways and other dark city areas...)
<-Awesomeness
Name: Kalui
Gender: Female
Age: As a "human," she typically appears to be about eighteen. As for mentally, she is apparently capable of acting any age between eight and thirty-two.
Species: A kitsune/tanuki hybrid
Position: Natsukatu's Favorite Chef
Description: Got two forms to go through here, so sit yourself back and enjoy.
"Human" Form: This form being what Kalui almost always, practically without fail, will look like during the course of the RPG. She stands at about five foot six, and has a delicately tanned skin that is almost golden-brown in color. She has smooth, shoulder length chocolate brown hair that is always tied up into a single, low-set ponytail; the thick, sky blue ribbon she uses to tie her hair up rests just where her neck begins. Set into her face are two purely blue eyes, sparkling with innocence and naivety. These eyes are surrounded by oddly a darker, more chocolatey colored skin that expands in stripes down the sides of her face, appearing similar to that of triangles with curved sides. There is one expanding stripe per eye. Even odder are the two triangular, tannish dog ears positioned on her head, and the two equally tan, foxish looking tails protruding from behind. The tails have dark brown rings that match the color of her hair, and are known to be extended to various lengths in order to help her with the cooking. Her attire consists of a puffy, sky blue maid's dress (complete with umbrella shaped skirt), which is covered by a frilly white apron. The dress extends down to her knees. Beyond that are a pair of white ankle socks with frills on the ends; these socks are covered by two black dress shoes with fancy buckles and thick, low-to-the-point-of-nonexistence heels. These shoes are always polished to the point where they could be eaten off of. Her last accessories are the simple, silver hoop earrings that hang from the bottom corners of her ears.
Original Form: Kalui is slightly taller than the average tanuki (raccoon dog), and still has the trademark striped face and body (her fur being tan and her stripes being dark brown). Her muzzle has been warped and thickened to match that of a fox's, and her teeth are longer and sharper than that of a normal tanuki's. Her normal tanuki tail has been traded out for two ringed fox tails, both of which are about two-thirds the size of her body. She will usually go without any accessories while in this form, though she has been known to have her blue bow tied around her neck on occassion.
In any form, at any given time, Kalui always produces an overly friendly, and most definetely naive aura. She isn't aware of the aura she gives, and thus wouldn't try to hide it under any circumstances. She also tends to be a bit clumsy when she isn't in the kitchen cooking, or out and about serving the food she cooked. Her scent is odd, to say in the least, taking on both tanuki and kitsune characteristics. This is usually covered up by the scent of whatever she is cooking, however, and has caused her to be mistaken for other things on several occasions.
Strengths: Hmm... Well, Kalui does have slightly above average strength, but she's not especially strong in any sense of the word. When it comes to food, besides being an exceptional (and notably, one of the world's best) cooks, she is very graceful and careful when it comes to the preparing and serving of food. She is also, obviously, a shapeshifter, capable of changing herself into anything she chooses.
Weaknesses: This girl is first and foremost an airhead, and is completely oblivious to the fact that the person she is working for is an evil emporer. In fact, Kalui considers him to be a particularly good friend of hers (whether or not he thinks the same way remains to be seen). Also, as a result of the odd kitsune/tanuki mix, there are some traits she is incapable of changing when she transforms. Her face will always have the stripe pattern regardless of what form and color she takes, and her tails will always be fox-like and ringed. She's also a bit of a klutz, as mentioned before.
Quirks: She's just an altogether quirky person, simple as that.
Past exploits: Er, nothing major really, besides being so spectacular a chef that she was hired to cook for Natsukatu himself.
Expectations: I expect to have a jolly good time, m'yes.
