A dilemma in entertaining myself :\

CHeSHiRe-CaT

A Curious Breed
I've had a really nasty writer's block lately so ugly that it ate away my interest in writing certain fics of mine. The first to go was Rolling Away (which I had planned out), and now, it's starting to come back to bite me where no one should EVER bite ><;;

What I'm saying is, I have a lack of interest in writing a certain fic of mine, and I'm inspired to write other things. In fact, I think I want to go back to Rolling Away, or even start a new trilogy, but I have the readers to think about. I mean, there is a significant number of people that like this work (or at least read it), and I'm not quite satisfied with it; almost on the brink of bored (hint: it's not Alice, and it's not Noob Trials :p). It also seems that every time someone reviews it and I reply, I never go into discussion about what took place in the last chapter I posted, and don't really interact with the readers, like I really think I should.

So my dilemma is entertaining myself, and basically asking opinions: should I continue a work that I almost loathe working on for the readers and not for me, or work on something that could be positive to both?

The Compromise
If you really don't like writing it, then you shouldn't force yourself. :)

We as the readers don't want you to be unhappy, if you don't enjoy writing it, just stop. We will survive, we read your other stories and be happy. But by writing when you don't want to, you can ruin your enjoyment of writing, and you will just slow to a halt, and not write any more. Which would be dreadful, for you have real talent. In the end you are writing for yourself, and if anybody says otherwise and forces you to do what you don't want to do, don't listen to them. Trust your instincts. *gives a cookie* :)

I have a feeling you are talking about pokemon existo... But I don't know... (Leaves way out incase I got it wrong. XD)

shove it up ya bum!
Definatly work on something that makes you feel good and if everyone likes it then you get the best of both worlds - and who really cares what everyone else thinks as long as your having fun writing it.

I've had the same sort of thing going on, I have 3 fics (1 I despise and only has 1 chapter :D) and I haven't updated any of them in about 3 months, basically because all of a sudden I hated them and was getting a whole bunch of new ideas. This mixed with the recent assignment season I only just scraped through, makes it kind of hard for me to go back to writing.
I want to get the new ideas down, but I haven't got the motivation (yet I have enough to do the copious amounts of fan-art I've been doing lately, even though I've never done any before).

Very strange, anyway if you hate the fics you've got then....shove them (for loss of a better phrase). Write what you want to write.

Hush, keep it down
I see my works as labors of love. You must always put your heart into your writing, as that is one of the keys to putting out a great story all can enjoy. If the author is not happy with something, it is not worth continuing.

Just me
Forced writing never turns out good. Working on the fic you don't want to write would just leave your readers disappointed about the quality.

Saffire Persian

Now you see me...
Personally, I think ever writer usually disdains his or her work after writing it at least once. o.o I've gone through it before... I sway in and out of interest in a story (Which makes it hard for me to write chaptered fanfics, as I tend to lose interest). But when I do lose a bit of interest, I usually go to writing something else - usually a one-shot that can be easily completed, then I'm usually satisfied enough to work on a newer chapter.

Hence all of my one-shots in between new installments of chaptered fanfiction :/...

So, I say start to write what you want to write - chances are you might have the inclination to go back to Exsisto or whatever else you want to write. Whichever way you choose, good luck.

Blah I tried reviewing three times and the forums kept dying for me/on me, >< so basically since I lost what I was originally going to say, and what I was going to say is voiced by most people, the do what you want, how you want, don't try to force yourself to write stuff.

<< so I hope my very belated comment is helpful too.

YEAHHHHHHH
Like Saffire Persian said, every writer once in a while will not be satisified with their writing. So far I love writing "Heart of the Sea" because I am always excited when I manage to write the scenes I want to put in.

There was this one story at first I was thinking about doing, which is called "Not Letting Go". At first I am excited to write it, but then I decided not to do that project because I think I might force myself in that story a little too much and will probably not liking the results. I am actually thinking of putting a couple of ideas I had from "Not Letting Go" and put it in my future fiction "Pure Distance".

So yeah, like everyone said, write what you want to write. There will be times when writers will go on and off on a work. I beleived that is normal since a lot of times the writers will have a jumble of ideas to put in different stories.

;134; ~Good night, and good luck~

Yeah, now I'm feeling guilty...

It's easy to interact with readers; just have a small challenge. It worked for my one-shot. ^_^ Leave some cliffhanger that really want readers to ask you about things and ask you about plots. Let them guess some things. Like, (if it's Pokemon Exsisto), ask them to post suggestions on what kind of pokemon he could have. ^_^ Yeah.

Hope my small comment helped. ^_^

~PEACE~

Yeah, you don't have to continue on something you're board of. So yeah, go ahead and start a new trilogy, I'll read it if you can tell me where to find it.
