Ok, i havent played Pokemon in a few years, and had some recent inspiration to play it again. I just got a DS and picked up Emerald and Fire Red, and the Emerald guide book. I was wondering if someone could explain the EVs, IVs, and DVs a little bit better to me, i didnt understand them from 1 reading of the page on them from the regular site. Also could someone explain this natures thing. Also is it possible to breed on Fire Red, and while doing so get the starters i didnt use, and trade them to Emerald. Like I said i hvent played in a few years, and when I did, i was more of a level up and repeatadly attack type player. I want to improve/change that now that i realize the games are much deeper.

Thank you all.

A REALLY good IVs/EVs guide (you'll need to copy/paste the shortcut, since it's GameFAQs):

http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/file/pokemon_rs_trainer.txt

If you want one that's less detailed, with just the basics, try Psypoke:

Nature info can be found on the main site here:

Breeding is possible in all the 3rd gen games. However, you can't breed to get the starters unless you have them already. When breeding, the baby Pokemon will be the lowest form of the female Pokemon, or when breeding with Ditto, the lowest form of the Pokemon that is not Ditto.

So for example, in order to get a Bulbasaur, you need either a Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, or Venusaur (if female, breed with a male in its Egg Group; if male, breed with Ditto) to get a Bulbasaur Egg.
