A Good Ice Type?

When will Game Freak (or whoever makes the Pokemon games) finally make a good Ice Type Pokemon? There are almost no good Ice Types in the games. They either have bad movesets or bad stats. Lapras/Walrein and Regiice are ok but not very good. Articuno has amazing stats but almost no movepool at all. They also have way too many weaknesses that are hard to counter even with a dual typing. Fire, Rock, Fighting, and Steel are very common in the metagame (Netbattle) which makes even the tankiest Ice type fall easily. Also, even though Ice Beam is a great attack, there should be more useful Ice attacks.

Well what about Sneasle? Isn't that a good ice type? And we just have to wait for Manyula's stats to see if it is good! I bet that the stats would be like High Attack and Speed but then Low Defense and SP. Attack or something like that. Also Lapras/Walrein and Regice are okay like you said but not good...Also again like you said Articuno does have amazing stats but no movepoll at all! And in Netbatlling Ice types do fall and Fighting, Rock, Fire and Steel get alot of people to have those kind of pokemon. I think that in this Generation they might make a good Ice type but I hope they do instead of just hoping for one! So what do you think of Manyula's stats though?

For a fast ice type, why not Jynx? It learns nice status inflicting moves, along with Psychic and Ice beam. but in my opinion, water types with Ice beam are better than pure Ice (Especially if they're fast/have high HP). I'd recommend that you use either Vaporeon or Starmie if you can't find a decent Ice type, since there aren't really any with all that great Sp att.

Regice is about as good as Ice is gonna get in RS. In general, it's a bad type with too many weaknesses and only one resistance. Just put Ice Beam on someone with a better type.

In RS yeah but what about in the whole pokemon universe? Mabye it would be a pkemon that has good defense, speed, and attacke also the Sp attack and SP defense. But yeah that is the only good ice type for the 3rd Generation

._.;; Ice-types rule. Let me list the ones I treasure closely to my heart ..

Walrein
Sneasel
Glalie
Snorunt
Cloyster
Sealeo

You know, all of them? Manyula will be top, though, when it arrives. =D

Manyula will probably be a pretty good Ice Pokemon in 4th generation unless it gets the Scyther -> Scizor thing (stat trading)... Maybe it will have to trade Sneasel's speed for defense?

Yes, I like Jynx and Walrein but I am saying that Nintendo should change the Ice weakness/resistances. Like Steinhauser said, it is only resistant to the Ice type and weak to 4 very common types.

We actually had a fair amount of discussion about this in the D/P forum. Adamantly and even boastfully championing the betterment of the Ice type, I think that Ice would be best served if it was given resistances to Flying and Ground. Considering that they have not made pure Ice types until the third generation, I would expect that GF would be a bit wary of the lack of resistances offered to the Ice type.

But if you want good Ice types now, go for Jynx. I just hope that Manyula will make not only a better special sweeper than Sneasel, but also a good special sweeper. Though, even if it ends up being a fiasco, Jynx is still a very awesome Pokemon in general, even with its rather narrow sweeping movepool.

EDIT: Erm, I wouldn't exactly call Steel or, to an extent, Fire "very common" types, but I see what you mean by your sentiments. In my envisionment, Ice provides a perfect experiment with which GF can tone down types that are too strong and prolific, such as Flying and Ground, perhaps even Normal if you want to go out on a limb.

Good Ice Types eh I prefer ones that are fast and have good Defence as well as offence like Articuno, Walrein, Manyula and Regice

...what the? I wouldn't call Regice or Walrein speed demons by any means. Moreover, it's a bit gutsy to assume something about Manyula that nobody knows, i.e. its stats.

However, Regice can be an effective Ice type and a bully special sponge when used properly. I think the standard set for it is something like Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Psych Up/Rest, though I'm not sure about that last move. :9

Jynx has several options, but except for the rather blah Perishtrapping one they all ought to have Ice Beam and Psychic.

The best Ice types are Glalie and Lapras. Lapras has many weaknesses and Glalie does too but when they're battling a pokemon that they're weak to it, switch it out.

I r gud riter.
Articuno is Semi-Decent with the addition of XD moves, now it gets Heal Bell and other useful moves that can go with it's OK stats. Regice is a very good special wall, and Lapras is also decent with it's wide movepool. Sneasel has very good attack and speed, and with the evolution of Manyula it could become a very good OU.

Lapras is amazing with his cool movepool. Jynx is also really good, as is Regice. Unfortunately, my poor Dewgong still blows though because he is continually shafted. However, he's not THAT bad, and if I say so, he's better than Delibird or Piloswine.

Dewgong is useable... just about. He still has a few decent stats I guess. Water/Ice is actually quite a decent combo, being able to use STAB moves to fend off Pokemon it's weak too, and Fire and Steel are neutralised.

I have to agree, Lapras IS very a very good and usefull Pokemon. Good HP,SpD,SpA and an amazing movepool. But that's the only one, IMO. I whish that Glaile would have a better stat distribution, because it looks really cool.

I'd say that Jynx is a pretty useful POKéMON. She's been of great use to me.

In my opinion ice types are strong enough as it is, i mean you got articuno, rejice, jynx, sneasel, walrin, dewgong, the list goes on, ice is very powerful/
