I think it's the Great Battle. (A.K.A. Groudon and Kyogre fighting) I bet he's thinking about the future of Hoenn.

Oh, and about the night sky, it's a little trick. First I use black marker to colour the say, then I use a white pen to dot the stars ^^. lol
