What would be a good Ph. Atker / Sweeper for my Kanto Region team?
I have 4 suggestions so please guide me to pick the right one or at least two of them. The pokemons are these:
~ Aerodactyl
~ Rhydon
~ Pinsir
~ Machamp

It kinda depends on the rest of your team.
I think machamp would've the best choice if you want a strong pokemon.
But Aerodactyl works if you want a fast physical attacker.

You know... this board is for Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald - not Fire Red/Leaf Green.....

I sort of wondered the other day when you started that thread about Raichu and Electabuzz, since Electabuzz doesn't show up in R/S/E. But I just figured you were going to trade one in to an R/S/E game. But yeah - if you're playing Fire Red or Leaf Green, you're on the wrong forum. The FRLG forum is over this way - http://www.serebiiforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46

That out of the way, as long as I'm here and the thread's here -

Of the four, the one I'd be least likely to use is Pinsir. It has great stats, but bug type is a problem since it basically can't ever get a stab move.

If I was just going to pick one, it'd be either Aerodactyl or Rhydon. They're both awesome and can take a lot of physical hits and do a lot of damage. Aerodactyl gets stab on rock and flying and gets good moves in both, while Rhydon gets stab on rock and ground and gets the same rock moves. The one problem with Rhydon though is that the only ground move it learns naturally is Earthquake, and that's at level 58. Until then, you have to make do with Dig, and have to use a TM just to get that. But Rhydon can also learn Brick Break, and can simply demolish normal types.

If I was going to pick two though, it'd probably be Aerodactyl and Machamp. Aerodactyl and Rhydon overlap too much and the one big advantage to Rhydon is Brick Break, which Machamp does better.

Yeah I have friends who have FireRed & LeafGreen so I can get those. And I
can get Rhydon & Pinsir in Pokemon Emerald. And I just need to trade
Machoke and I have Machamp. Only Aerodactyl is "harder" to get.

And between Aerodactyl and Rhydon the movesets are QUITE similar.

Aerodactyl:
~ Earthquake
~ Rock Slide
~ Double-Edge
~ Aerial Ace

Rhydon:
~ Earthquake
~ Rock Slide
~ Double-Edge
~ Megahorn / Swords Dance

And yeah I thought Pinsir would not be so good if you compare it to those
others. WHY NOT MEGAHORN!!

So I guess it would be Machamp or Aerodactyl/Rhydon

So I'm still lost - what game are you actually playing? Are you running a Kanto team in Ruby or Sapphire? Is that it?

Anyway - Rhydon does have one advantage that I mentioned earlier - it can learn Brick Break, so it can actually sort of take the place of Machamp, while still providing stabbed Earthquake and Rock Slide. Of course, it doesn't handle fighting moves as well as Machamp, but at least it can do it. Aerodactyl also gets stab on Rock Slide and gets a stabbed Aerial Ace, but its Earthquake is unstabbed. So between those two, to me, it comes down to what you need. If you still need a good flying attack on your team or if you can cover fighting somewhere else, then Aerodactyl might be the better choice. If you need a good fighting attack or can cover flying somewhere else, then Rhydon might be the better choice. Machamp would tend to be my third choice, though it gets pretty much the same attacks, just because the only stab you can get out of it is fighting. Though if that's the one you need most.....
