A Pokémon Research Paper for my senior year?

Yes, you heard right. I'm able to do a research paper for my senior year English (Literature) IV class. Here's my plot-line on what I'm discussing:

How it gained a series of versions and creatures.

The positive influence the Pokémon franchise was sought as relating to Christianity.

How Pokémon has hidden mathematical means.
The science behind Pokémon.
Pokémon in the near future. Where it is going, and will it stay original to its roots.

Yes, I got permission from Serebii himself to use his website as a source. I'm thanking him in letting me do so. Near the end of the paper, with Pokémon having mathematical themes, I am going to quote on the stuff Serebii has on his site (it's also mentioned in the strategy guides, but not EVs) about EVs and move multipliers (super-effective & negative-effective attacks) that is used during a battle to show strategy.

I have shown my teacher what my topic was about. Literally, the Senior Research Paper for English IV could be on anything but had to have something that was debateable and could have been researched on.

Anyways, I want people to know how different and lucky I am for actually doing a research paper on Pokémon for school. People can discuss on whether or not this sounds interesting or not, or I could get stuff to add in my research paper. And, the paper itself has to be at least 20 pages, but that's not as much as my fanfic lol

That sucks having to write a 20 page anything. It's hard for me to just stretch something out for 3 pages for a research paper, much less 20!

Wow, I can't believe your doing that. I think he can pass since there is alot on pokemon. He can make 1 page 1 topic. Like a topic on the show, on the games, etc. Anyway, good luck.

I think it sounds like a good idea. Based on the outline you provided, you can explore all kinds of areas that branch into business, religion, marketing and the like.

Do post it here when it's done, I'd enjoy reading it.

Yes, if you read the first post, I have my outline listed. I go to a private school, and the senior research paper can cover ANY topic as long as it's debatable and shows how it relates to our life or culture.

Right now I'm on the first part after the thesis (essay subject) on the third item - the different versions and the creatures.

As soon as I get the rough draft done, I'll post it. I'm going a bit to the extreme with this research paper. I'm also including those topics that the people on the forums have talked about, about Pokémon being Satanic. I also have a little pamphlet that talks about Pokémon relating to Christianity. I'll post what the pamphlet says on the Bible.com on Pokémon thread right now.

That's a legitimate topic. There's no denying that Pokemon has had a huge impact on our, and others' cultures.

On a related note, I did a group project involving Pokemon last year. We compared the different levels of government in the United States to the Pokemon League in the video games. (The checks and balances between Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, trainers, and Pokemon themselves, etc. etc.) Interestingly enough, there was one other group who used the same topic for the project. Both were well recieved. Best of luck.

Good luck. With the outline you gave, you should have no problem covering all of the aspects of Pokemon. Just make sure to explain IV's and Hidden Power so that people can understand it easily. I didn't get it on the first try, and even then they still confuse me.

Probably double spaced. My English teachers demand everything double-spaced, and maybe it's the same with Nakaru's teacher. It still is no easy task to write 20 pages, even if it is double-spaced.

Why would he fail? Just because it's a paper on Pokemon? :B

I wrote a paper on Pokemon when I was in highschool, and actually got 100% on it because it was so well-researched. They don't really care what the subject is (at least they shouldn't... if they do, well then.. they're bad teachers). What's important is how much work is put into it.

good luck! Research really hard and get a good grade! Pokemon is a wide subject so there's lots to research. Hopefully your friends (or classmates) wont make fun of you.

Nah, my friends don't make fun of me for liking Pokémon. I play it during lunch and I sometimes yell, "DAMNIT! Hit the fricking opponent!!" (catching a Pokémon) And one of the girls said, "Adam, get real. It's just a video game." I then reply, "It's not fair. She (my main character) can't throw the Ball worth a crap..."
