The typing they chose was pretty stupid, since sand is on the ground, making sense that it would be a ground type. But no one cares anyway, it only really matters if you're using Weather Ball with Castform...and who ever uses that?

So yea, I suppose sandstorm is just rock because. Better than Electric.

Sorry if it sounded rude (it wasn't intended to be).

I just realised, since sand makes up many types of rock (sedimentry rocks like sandstone are made up of sand), it makes sense that sandstorm is a rock move. Of course, ground would have also made sense.

A pretty lame explanation, really.

Nah it's not it's the only one there is. :)

The thing is there probably isn't really any explaination. Just suits Tyranitar better, maybe? Unless Sandstorm was around before abilitys? Can't remember.

Sandstorm's been around since GSC, but I only remember Shuckle, Steelix and Tyrannitar learning it.

Nearly every Rock, Ground and Steel Pokemon could learn it, even Skarmory.

Sandstorm is a rock move.Because sandstorm is a wind of small rocks.
Well i don't use sandstorm that often,cause it wastes a turn and I don't really need it.Tyranitar is awesome because it has automatic sandstorm.And it can counter endure/reversal users.

Yeah, you're right. I only remember those three learning it cause I wasn't really into competitive battles in the days of GSC, and I rarely saw it used.

What I find weird though is that loads of non-rock/ground/steel types learn Sandstorm :S

Yeah, why Tyranitar learns Sandstorm if it´s ability is CREATE A SANDSTORM when appears on battle?
