Okay Brock I mean Bonnie, chill with the random marriage proposals.

Overall it was a nice episode. It is a shame that we will likely not see much of this side of Serena much. She rammed down a truck with a Rhyhorn.

Just saw the episode and I really enjoyed the depth they added to Serena. I liked how they made clear that she left on her journey to avoid doing ryhorn racing and how she used to be a crybaby. I liked the parallel they did between Serena and Bonnie.

Huh...skiddo looks like a bush when it crouches down (kinda hard to make out in XY)...I guess it isn't a totally boring pokemon lol...

 

[Ѕhiny Missingno]

Good, no one caught Skiddo. Hopefully the boring grass goat line stays out of the main cast, or at the very least Ash's team.

But this was an interesting episode. A lot of gags were shown. Bonnie's waifu gag, Chespin being Oshawott 2.0, Clemont being bad at a physical activity and Team Rocket's standard shenaningans were there as usual. This time, they were tolerable since they were mostly done really quickly and they didn't get in the way of the plot. Nice development for Serena, too.

I really loved this episode, cliché plot and all. I loved Serena/Grace's dialogue at the end, including the race.

The only thing I hated about this ep was Chespin stealing 30 seconds that could've been used more wisely.

[Pokegirl Fan~]

Loved this episode, Serena showing her resolve to be a Pokemon Performer by challenging and beating her in a Skiddo race was one of the best things I've seen from Serena so far and it seems that her character will get even better in the future. Chespin and Team Rocket annoyed me, but Bonnie was cute and Clemont was hilarious, and Serena's determination was awesome to see. I also love the fact that she left home because she hated Rhyhorn Racing and wanted to avoid it.

This episode was good, but I only had one real problem with it: the way Skiddo's name was pronounced

Skid-oo, seriously? Skid-oh sounds like a way better pronunciation than that. I don't think I'll get used to saying it's name like this

It references the phrase "23 skidoo", which means to escape quickly.

I was surprised to learn that Serena has a history of quitting, but thinking back to the first XY episodes I can see it. It explains why Grace didn't blink at Serena suddenly leaving to become a Pokemon trainer; she probably figured Serena would come crawling home the moment her dress got dirty.

After watching this episode in the English dub, I think it may be one of my favorite XY episodes so far. I loved how Serena got so much focus in this episode. She battled Jessie's Pumpkaboo, raced and beat her mom in a Skiddo race, and showed her determination on following her new goal as a Pokemon Performer. I also loved that she said something about going on a journey because she hated Rhyhorn racing and Ash wasn't the only reason why she left.

I agree that they should of have the visual focus on Serena rather then Ash but for some reason the people that are in charge of doing the title cards for the English dub episodes have focus on Ash. while in the Japanese episodes the title card will focus on the character that is the focus of the episode but for some weird reason when it is dubbed the title card is always purposely change to focus on Ash and it's a bit of annoyance that they do that.

I actually watched this episode dubbed. First off I haven't watched anything dubbed for awhile. So when I saw that opening for XY I cringed. This had to be the worst opening to Pokemon I have ever seen and listened to. That awful opening aside, I watched the episode simply because this was one of the XY episodes I really did enjoy all the way, so I wanted to see how the dub handled it. It was fine. Clemont's voice actor, I never fully got use to, but he did fine. I got to hear what Bonnie said to Clemont as she rode the Skiddo with ease. I got to understand everything said between Serena and her mom. And apparently I have been pronouncing "Skiddo" wrong. Skiddooooh! I actually have grown to like the Skiddo species.

This episode still stands out as one of Serena's better episodes. I still enjoy the race and Serena owning Grace. I said it before and I'll keep saying it. Johanna wishes she was as cool as Grace. But seriously those two need to meet and talk about how they tortured and controlled their daughters. I want to see that meeting. Still a great episode for Serena.

If this is the pronunciation of Skiddo then potentially hearing Ash say it's name over and over again just left a bad taste in my mouth. :/
