| The Legend |

ban3_zpsf9876a2a.jpg

Man has forever sought to seek more power. Since the beginning of mankind, there are those who follow, and those who lead. There was once a King named Arzun. His majesty ruled with an iron fist, separating society into an upper, middle and lower class. Increasing taxes, slavery of the poor, were just some of the methods he used to increase his power in the world. Limiting the teaching of magic to only those who could afford it, Arzun was able to create the country to his liking.

“Your highness, does nothing satisfy you? Even Royals in other countries envy you.” A man asked. Arzun did not understand the meaning of the question. If there was still more power to be sought, then why would he not try to obtain it?

“Tell me…if we were at war, then would other countries hesitate to attack?” The King asked the man. The man didn’t reply. “Of course not. They don’t fear us. At least not yet.” The King said. With that in mind, the King had an idea. What he needed was something to show that they were not to be messed with. Stricter laws would indeed enforce his power over the people, but that didn’t help him with facing other countries.

“What do we need to be feared?” The man asked curiously. The King looked at the man, and gave a malicious smile. The King’s intentions were to keep a weapon, capable of destroying entire armies.

“We need a Dragon.” Yes, the King’s idea was to capture the very essence of fear itself within nature. The man was shocked. Dragons were the rarest of beasts. Many people spend their entire lives without ever finding the elusive creature, let alone capture it. “We leave tonight.” With that said, the King and his finest men packed their bags and headed to the wilderness.

~

After a month of travelling, the gruelling sun was beating down on the men and their bodies were taking a toll. Out of the fifty, twenty men were gone. Some done in by wild animals, others suffering from natural causes. “Your highness…we need to go back. The more we stay out, the more men we will lose.” The man said, throat dry. The King hesitated, looking in front of them.

“This is it. It has to be. The Dragon’s Nest”. The men stared into a pit filled with webs and the stench of rotting flesh. Carcasses were scattered about, torn limb by limb. Without word, the men climbed down the pit, eventually retreating from the surface of the upper world down to the foreign cave. “We’re almost there.” The men reached the bottom of the pit, with a loud growl rushing through the caverns bringing along a lingering odor.

“I think…that’s the-“ The man was cut off, as a loud screech hissed through the cave, enough to make a man’s ear bleed. They were soon faced with a pair of red eyes, glowing within the darkness of the caverns.

Continent: Continent of Aras | Country: Salos

ban4_zps9d307d94.jpg

The World has entered the Third Era. Currently in the midst of a Civil War between the regions of Kale and Grandora, Salos is not exactly the most stable country. Diaz, the King of Grandora has begun his reign of terror on the country. In an effort to attain more power, he has taken control of Kale’s regions to create his own empire, creating his new title of Emperor Diaz. His actions have caused many rebellion groups to arise within the nation, trying to put an end to his takeovers. The aftermath of many battles have left places desolated, slums even. Although there are still many ‘neutral zones’, or rather places that have not been affected by the war, travellers should be weary of venturing into dangerous territory.

Along with the creation of rebellion groups, several industries have been booming. The mining industry has brought in money for thousands of businessman, with people looking for jobs after losing their previous ones. Farms have been doing slightly more poor in the country ever since the start of the war, with less crops being available with each passing year the war goes on. However, a lot of criminal and gang activity has been reported around the country, filled with people who instead of working, steal, kill and do other criminal activities for money. Diaz however, is one step ahead of them.

One of Diaz’s most famous plans, is implementing the Galvez Prison facility for criminals, murderers, as well as rebellion groups and those who oppose Diaz’s ideals. The prison is a hell-on earth located in the mountains North-West of Kale. Although nobody is sure what goes on in there, it’s evident the prisoners are somehow dealt with, seeing as how nobody has ever come out. Under constant watch, nobody can get in either without permission or approval of access. Now only time can tell how this war will be played out, and how it ends.

| The RP Itself |

ban6_zpse8f91124.jpg

So then, welcome to revamp of 'A Tale of Heroes'! Yeah, yeah, some of you may be thinking, 'Not this again!', in which case you can leave lol. Someone that was in this RP before persuaded me to start this up again, and so I shall! I really want to see this thing completed, so let's make it to the end this time! This RP is sort of going to be really long. In fact, I will have to split it up into multiple parts, because the storyline is going to change suddenly, and the because there will be so much going on. Part one is going to be called: Reign of Diaz. So, once this is completed, expect sequels. This is not sandbox, although there will be many times where you will be able to wander around a town and whatnot, hang out with other characters, eat, etc. For the majority of this RP, we will be travelling as a group. Also, a little side note: If you want to create a side arc let me know and we'll sort something out.

The Setting & Your Character
First off, this is an original RP, which means it’s not an existing franchise. The time period is not exact (there will be times when it will be slightly more outdated/medieval, and times when it will be slightly more modern.), but I guess the closest I can say would be Fire Emblem or SAO-esque(or some other fantasy-style RPG/JRPG if you can think of one such as Final Fantasy), but slightly more ‘updated’. For example, some guns are allowed as weapons in this RP, as long as they make sense, and it isn’t a machine gun or something (make sure you go by me first before making a gun, this is an absolute MUST). Also, instead of actual bullets, the guns will be using the user's mana as ammo. Swords and bows and whatnot are okay as well. World-wise, I have am in the midst of creating a map, so once that is done, expect a map of the country somewhere in this post.

At the start of the RP, the characters will currently be already in Galvez Prison for whatever reason that may be. You don’t have to explain this in your character history, but you can if you wish. It will be there that we all meet and greet and find a way out of the prison. The story builds onwards from there, and falls a lot on the shoulders of the characters. Your character should be affected by the war somehow (doesn't have to that major). They shouldn't be too experienced with fighting or using magic, as there is plenty of time to do that throughout the RP.

Note: If you are wondering what the legend has to do with the RP, it is there because there will be several references to it throughout the RP, and plays a huge role later on. Your character doesn't have to be familiar with the legend at all.

Elements
There are seven elements in total. Elements are essentially the type of an individual’s attacks and magic. Everyone has an element, although not all can use magic (your characters will be able to use magic). Magic of someone’s own element will be stronger. However, some of your other magic of a different element may be weaker and harder to learn. Essentially magic of your element is easier to learn, and magic of resisting element is harder. Here are the elements:

elemental_chart_by_pokecasthq-d6xmmn7.png

Fire: Is good against Lightning/ Weak against Water
Water: Is good against Fire/Weak against Lightning
Wind: Is good against Earth/ Weak against Earth
Earth: Is good against Wind/Weak against Wind
Lightning: Is good against Water/Weak against Fire
Light: is good against Dark/Weak against Dark
Dark: Is good against Light/Weak against Light

Magic
What’s an RPG without magic? Magic has many uses rather than just attacking. The amount of magic spells created is nearly limitless. Magic can be learned by either practicing, learned from others, or created by one’s self through extensive research and trial and error. They can range from simple attacks, healing spells, shields, etc. Mana is the energy needed to perform Magic. The amount of Mana depends on the person. Some people naturally have larger reserves of Mana, and others do not. The main way of increasing Mana is through training, frequency of usage, and the most common way is just by waiting, as time naturally lets your body increase reserves of mana. There are also items that may increase mana reserves or regeneration.

Note: Any sort of magic regarding the usage of bringing back the dead is off limits. Healing magic is mainly going to be within the elements of Water or Light, but if you can provide a good reason for it being of a different element go ahead.

NPCs
Diaz: The main Antagonist for the first part of the RP. Currently titled 'Emperor', he is in total control of Western Salos. In his palace in Grandora, he can control the war from his throne, preferring not to get his hands dirty himself. May be seen as a coward to most people. He is carrying through his father's legacy, who died a few years ago and took his place.

Kazul: Controls most of Eastern Salos, and currently resides in the City of Kale. Titled 'King', Kazul doesn't interfere much with Diaz. For reasons unknown, he does not try to stop Diaz, but instead minds his own business with the Eastern side of the country. Age 24, and like Diaz he also took his father's throne after he died a year before Diaz's father. Blonde hair, good looking, blue eyes, this King as it all, plus his way with the ladies.

Luna: At twenty-one years old, she's the younger sister of Kazul. Also good looking with Blonde hair, the two share similar physical traits. She doesn't talk much with her brother, nor does she care much for political affairs. However, she does have a heart of gold, and is caring for others and willing to help anyone in need.

Rules:
  • All forum rules apply
  • No bunnying/God-modding. Please, just don't do it. If you don't know what that means let me know.
  • Please post as frequently as you can. This is one of those RPs that is fun if you keep up.
  • If you plan being away for a while, please let me know ahead of time. I cannot stress this enough.
  • Not sure if I mentioned this, but Dragons are extinct in this RP, and have been for a looong time.
  • Swearing is allowed since this is rated 'M'. Please don't abuse this.
  • Romance/Sexual stuff I have no problems with, as long as you are not too explicit. Make sure you're not writing a new fifty shades of grey.
  • Seeing as how this is rated 'M', expect blood. It probably won't be to the extent of horror movies or anything, but expect violence.
  • Please be realistic when there is fighting. I know there's magic and whatnot, so that doesn't really apply, but if your character gets punched in the face, act like they actually did get punched rather than take it like it was nothing.

| The Sign-Up Sheet |

Name: (What is your character's name? First and Last.)

Age: (18+ there's no age limit; they can even be 60 years old If you want.)

Sex: (Male or Female)

Element: (Pick one of the elements that your character has a natural affinity for).

Appearance: (Gimme a description of your character. You know, height, weight, hair color/length, clothing. Make sure you write enough so people can visualize your character).

Personality: (Okay, so here's a kicker. Instead of writing out a super long personality, what I want you to do is write out a paragraph detailing their personality. This is to keep things simple, plus it's more than likely your character may undergo changes. Afterwards, I want you to list at least three main personality points of your character down below, to summarize them up a bit. So, a good quality personality paragraph and a few personality traits /quirks down below is what I'm looking for.)
  • ~
  • ~
  • ~
  • ~

History: (A history for your character. How has the war affected you, has it affected you at all? Are you rich, poor? Family? How did you end up in the prison? You don't really need to be a criminal, as more often than not, regular people will often end up in the prison. Other than that, nothing too hard I think.)

Hometown: (Where is your character from? Make up your own town, but make sure they are not form another country/continent.)

Weapon: (Your character has been stripped of all weapons, so they will not have any weapons when the RP starts. The weapon you choose must be something simple. No 'excalibur' swords or anything like that.)

Magic: (List three spells your character knows. This can range from healing to attack type spells. They must be within your character's element. It is not possible for someone to know magic spells of all the elements, however most people are able to use two different elements; One main, and one secondary. Also make sure that your spells are not overpowered! I will be checking this, so don't even try it!)

Name: Artus Callum

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Artus is a tall fellow, standing approximately 6’3", and weighing in at a hefty 235lbs. He is pretty solid in terms of build, from working a labor job for quite a while with his father giving him a solid amount of strength and muscle. A little more bulky than lean, he doesn't have the body of a model, and is certainly 'soft'(aka fat) in some areas. He has light-brownish/tannish skin hue, with short black hair. His skin is free from any imperfections such as acne or scars, as he takes fairly good care of it. Most of the time his beard is shaven, but after a week of no shaving, he tends to get a bit of stubble, and even longer will result in a scruffy or rugged look. His eyes are dark brown, almost black if not seen from up close. He doesn't wear any armor, as he likes to move freely without the extra weight. Instead, he just wears a light, pale blue short-sleeved tunic. For pants, he wears somewhat loose fitting light brown pants, made out of a tough denim-like material. For shoes, he wears simple black boots that he picked up at a local market for a cheap price.

Personality: Artus the type of guy you would want having your back. He’s a loyal friend, and never turns his back away from his peers. He can get timid at times, however this usually occurs when he is embarrassed about something such personal issues, relationship, etc. But he doesn't get embarrassed too easily, as he is fairly open about most things. In fact, he rarely gets offended by much, and will pretty much answer any question thrown at him, with the exception of the occasional embarrassing question where he will make up an answer. When around with people, he is nice and polite most of the time, and usually courteous when talking or listening to others. When he's with people he doesn't know very well, it can seem he is a bit more outspoken. He is also on the more competitive side. He loves friendly competition, and occasionally gambles for money, items, and other minor things. However, his gambling sometimes goes too far. Although he is no an addict, he does have a tendency to gamble whenever he has the chance. When it comes to fighting, he has zero combat experience, and he prefers not to get tangled up in physical altercations.

Quirks:
  • Loyal
  • Gets Paranoid
  • Competitive
  • Somewhat Oblivious
  • Likes to joke; Can sometimes come off as annoying
  • A bit insecure

Hometown: Nalan; A small town south of Grandora; Currently occupied by Diaz's forces.

History: His hometown was one of the first to be invaded by Diaz’s forces. Although they weren't exactly hostile, they weren't too nice either. People were forced into jobs they did not want, and overall made life unpleasant. Artus however, left town out of worry that something would bad would happen to him. He left without his parents and sister knowing, as things were getting a bit heated in the Callum household. As much as he wanted to stay with his family, Artus didn't want to be in a town where he would be forced into even harder labor than he was doing before, along with the fear of Diaz and his men. He has relatives that live in a another city, which is one of the many cities unaffected from the war. Their city has remained neutral, and seems like it will stay out of the way of conflict. Artus' original intent was to go travel to their city to live with them, however, in he ended up being caught in the midst of some rebel activity and got a one way ticket to Galvez Prison.

Being a commoner, Artus entire family was mostly made up of your typical jobs. Him and his father would work labor, and his mother and sister worked in a local daycare. They weren't exactly poor, but they did have to watch what they spent their money on, which meant not too much Luxury for the Callum family.

Hometown: Nalan – Located south of Grandora, and one of the first places to be invaded by Diaz and his forces. Currently occupied by them, life there has been more difficult with a demand for labor and farming. As of now, it resides as a 'frontier' upon entering Grandora.

Weapon: A regular sword, made of steel.

Element: Lightning

Magic Spells:
ThunderBolt[LIGHTNING]: Artus' hand becomes enveloped in electricity. Smaller bolts are able to be fired off (with sort of bad aim), however the main usage of this attack is to touch the opponent or get close to them for it to do anything reasonable.
Barrier[LIGHT]: This particular spell is Light Elemented. Artus creates triangular shield formed out of Mana. The shield does not cover 360 degrees, but rather only one side at a time.
Electric Blade[LIGHTNING]: Artus fills his sword with Lightning elemented magic energy, increasing damage potential.

Other: N/A

Monster Guy

Fairy type Trainer
Name: Timothy "Tim" Wolfe

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Element: Water

Appearance:

Tim is somewhat short for a young man his age, standing at exactly 5'4". It doesn't bother him much, unless someone bullies him for it. Despite seeming weak and fragile, he is actually stronger than he looks. He has an athletic build and is physically fit due to having lived in a small island all of his life, and spending a lot of time running around outside. He spends a good amount of time in the sun so his skin is lightly tanned as a result, not pale but not bronzed either. He has messy black hair on top of his head, and his bangs go to his eyebrows. He has big brown eyes, a small nose, and a round "Babyface", which give him a youthful appearance. His face is clean-shaven, and his upper body is free of any hair except the top of his head and eyebrows.

Tim's clothes tend to vary, but he usually wears what is comfortable. He has recently taken to wearing robes to signify that he is a mage. His usual outfit is a short sleeved, collared white robe. The trim on the bottom, and sleeves of the robe are light blue. It is held in place by a light blue belt at the waist. Underneath this, he wears a simple white undershirt. On his legs he wears white leggings that keep them warm in the cold, but are still comfortable to wear when the temperature is warmer. On his feet are a pair of knee-high white boots with one blue strap and a white buckle wrapped around each of them. A pair of white gloves with blue trims cover his arms up to his elbows. He keeps his things in a light blue messenger bag.

Personality: Tim is a shy and quiet individual by nature. He is very sensitive, and he fears being bullied. He usually speaks with a quiet voice, and occasionally a stutter when he's nervous. He also becomes very apologetic when someone shows any hint of being upset. He gets scared easily, his worst phobia being stage fright, becoming nervous when there are a lot of people watching. He has a thing for animals, and he usually prefers being with animals than with people. He is gentle and soft-spoken, which seems to be the reason why he has such an easy time with animals. Despite being shy, he is by no means antisocial. If you talk to him, you'll find he's quite friendly, and polite. Tim is usually very difficult to anger, but he does have occasional passive aggressive tendencies due to keeping things inside. The times Tim does let his anger out, then he can be quite dangerous. Tim is very careful and calculating. He always thinks before he speaks, and prefers not to recklessly jump into danger. However, due to his insecurity he is often uncertain if the choices he makes are the right ones. He can easily be convinced to change his mind. Tim likes food. He likes to eat a lot, and has the cooking skills to match.

Quirks

Timid
Sensitive
Kindhearted
Passive Aggressive
Insecure

Hometown: Soluna Island. A small tropical island within Salos. Currently infested with Diaz's soldiers.

History: Tim was born on a tropical island, to a pair of mages. The island is small and out of the way, so it managed to stay under the radar, and out of the war for a while. Tim's parents weren't rich, but they did all they could to give their son a good life, and give him every advantage. While they expressed having high hopes for their son's success, they tried not to put too much pressure on the boy. For the most part, his life was normal. Tim was often a target of bullying because of his shyness, tendency to get scared easily, and because he was clumsy. No matter what he did to get them to stop it, it always failed or they found something else to give him crap about. It gave him self-esteem issues, resulting in him becoming even more timid. As a result, he had very few friends growing up. He didn't tell anyone about the bullying, lest it become worse. He saw other kids get beaten up much worse after they snitched, and he didn't want that to happen. So he kept it all inside and let his resentment build.

From an early age, he always had a special talent for caring for animals. They seem to be fond of him due to his softspoken nature. He often finds sick, or injured animals and cares for, plays with, and feeds them when no one else will. Around animals, Tim felt much more like himself. He found relief from the stresses of life, and he's found they are the best friends he could ask for. He always knew he wanted to do something with animals when he gets older. He just wasn't sure what.

At the age of ten, Tim finally showed signs of having magical potential. When a stream of Ice that seemed to come from nowhere froze a bully's feet to the floor, after he stuck his foot out and caused Tim to trip, then teased him about his clumsiness. Tim giggled at that, which caused the bully to think Tim was to blame, and so he punched the boy in the face, resulting in a black eye. While his parents were concerned about his injury, they were thrilled at the confirmation that their son had inherited their magical skills.

Since that day, Tim had multiple incidents of accidentally freezing things. While he never actually hurt anyone, it made Tim nervous that he possibly could, and the fact that Tim had strange powers caused the other kids to bully him more. He started wearing gloves to prevent any accidents, and did his best to keep his powers to himself. It was when Tim turned thirteen, his parents felt he was ready to learn magic. He was taught by his parents, who also gave him his first wand. He was also tutored by various scholars who studied magic that lived in the area. He spent many years studying, and practicing his techniques. He realized quickly that he preferred being a mage and using magic to help others rather than fighting the way a warrior does. Tim did well with his studies and showed great potential. He had taken a liking to the healing and protective spells, and became good at casting them. However, although the bullying had stopped by this point, he didn't really talk to any other kids because of his experiences when he was younger.

After he completed his training, Tim went off to practice his magic by himself. For a while he was perfectly content being alone with the wild animals that inhabited the area, at least for a while. The peace was ruined when the war eventually reached the small island. Diaz's forces, and discovered that this place existed, and Soldiers were sent to invade. When they arrived, the islanders were largely unprepared for such an attack, and stood no chance against the enemy soldiers. The invaders killed many people, and took others prisoner. Tim was among those taken prisoner. He has no idea what happened to his parents, but he hopes they managed to get away.

Weapon: A simple white metal wand, with a blue orb at the top of it. The wand was given to him by his parents. It is used for channeling his magic. It can also serve as a melee weapon when Tim coats it with ice using his Freeze spell. He doesn't do that often, however.

Magic

Ice shield: Tim can freeze an amount of moisture in the air in front of himself, or someone else to create a shield of ice to protect them from attacks.

Freeze: Tim can send a ray of ice at a target to freeze them. This is mostly used to bind enemies feet so they won't move.

Healing: Tim can heal wounds and ailments by directing mana through the body, using water as a catalyst.

I do intend for him to get a second element later, but I'm not sure which. Either Earth, Light, or Wind.

I have an old character that would fit this RP peeeerfectly.
Mowahahahaha.

I'll get to work on the SU after work today.

Schade

Metallic Wonder
Name: Valmiro Eberhart
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Element: Dark
Hometown: Ostrheinsburg City
Weapon: Hand Blast: Valmiro hurl Dark beams of energy at his enemies with a thrust of his arms or a wave of his hands. His ranged attacks are chained together with grace and power to keep his enemies at bay, and he excel at charging up his attacks to put even more strength into each blast.

Appearance: Valmiro is a bit above average tall, and have a slender physique. He have quite the muscle as well, due to continous training. He have slightly glowing red eyes, whose color really stands out in contrast to his silvery white hair. His hair is at medium length, and is usually kept in a neat, stylish fashion. His skin is pale, and is very sensitive to sunlight. He have two gently curved eyebrows above his eyes, giving them a serious, yet laid back look to them.

Valmiro dress in an orderly fashion. His clothing are often of good quality, as well as the armor he wears. He typically wear a sleeveless upper body armor, black in color, and with purple decorative symbols on it. He wears a pair of matching gauntlets. He wears simple leather shoes though, in order to be able to move quickly. He wear a pair of black leather pants as well. Around his neck, Valmiro wears a slim black cape. Valmiro likes being able to move around quickly during battle, and therefore keeps his armor light.

Personality: Valmiro is the kind of person that outs himself above everything else. He's a selfish character driven by his own wishes, and doesn't really get along well with others. He have a short temper, and sometimes attack and ask questions later. He's also somewhat impatient, something that also encourage him to rush into things without thinking throughly first. He's driven mostly by impulse. He doesn't value human lives, and can easily take a life if the person is in his way one way or another, or if they simply bother him or annoy him. Though he has little social skills, Valmiro looks up to the person that he deems to be worthy of his respect. He's very loyal towards his own people, and could go to extreme lengths to keep them safe, even though he have ulterior motives for doing so.

• ~ Impatient
• ~ Cruel
• ~ Loyal
• ~ Brave

History: Born in the dark Capital of Ostrheinsburg, Valmiro lived a fairly normal childhood. Since his People relied a lot on old magical books and ancient texts, he was raised to be a scholar, like most children of the city there were. Though he found the books and Learning to be interesting, Valmiro always had a facination With the city's fighting academy, and the dark Magic users that enrolled there. Since his parents were of the wealthy type, his father being a medic, and his mother being a scholar herself, they could afford sending Valmiro there if he managed to get well enough grades at School during his younger years. A lot due to his mother spending time to help him With his studying, Valmiro did manage to get good grades in School, and at the age of 16, he was allowed to enroll at the academy of dark Magic users. At this point, Valmiro had discovered that he could wield the dark arts himself as well.

Since he was more or less a rookie to the world of dark Magic, Valmiro needed to learn the basics before setting out on the awesome adventure he had always imagined the academy to be. He showed great potential ni his dark summonings, and he knew a lot of the theoretical stuff due to have been taught by his mother during his earlier years. Due to his impatient personality, Valmiro succeeded way Ahead of the others, and at the age of 18, he was enrolled in the fighting-branch of the academy. At this point, he was taught to manifest his dark energy into energized beams he could hurl at oponents for pretty good damage. Gettnig a bit carried away by his succession, Valmiro often tired himself out by usnig too much dark Magic in too short periods of time.

It wasn't until rumors of war came that everything went upside Down. The emperro Diaz had for some reason sent out soliders to conquer the land, and Ostrheinsburg just happened to be in his path. The soliders came, and laid everything in ruin. The academy managed to keep up a conciderable fight, but eventually it was beaten. A lot of the students managed to flee the invadors, but Valmiro, who put up a great fight, eventually lost due to exhaustion, and was taken captive.

Magic:

- Dark shield: Shielding his movement in darkness, Valmiro can turn completely invisible. He can't stay invisible for long, since he hasn't mastered the spell completely yet.
- Shadow Summoning: through ominous chanting, Valmiro can summon revenants from the shadows to do his biddings. These Creatures are made out of shadows, and are fierce and violent.
- Shadow Strike: Fires a bolt of dark energy at his oponents.

Hey, I reserved Dark first. >.<

In all the versions of this RP I've seen, there have been multple Dark/Light people. More than one person can have the same Element.

EDIT: Proof

@Monster Guy: Yes, two people can be the same element. As long as there is some variety, then it fine (because most likely your characters will know different magic).

I'm interested in this if there are still spots to spare, however I'm not sure. If there is a spot would you mind putting me down for a Wind primary, water secondary?

Night Triumphant
Name: Rozalia Faustyna Górniak/Rose Thorn (her chosen "common language" name, as her name is easy to mispronounce…you can just put her down as Rose Thorn to save the trouble of accent marks)

Age: 22

Sex: Female

Element: Dark

Appearance:
QapLRO1.png

Rose is a little over 6 feet tall and a striking beauty, her skin being pale and her long hair is a blood red color, its length significantly past her waist, though it is often tied in a high ponytail that reaches waist-length. She has long bangs that cover her left eye, which she refuses to push out of the way, even if she is made to. Contrary to what some may think, however, her left eye is nothing strange, being the exact shade of pale azure as her right. Her body is slim, leanly muscular yet sturdy with large, ample breasts and long, lean legs, while her face is an angular, oval shape with strong features including arched brows and an aquiline nose. She knows that she's attractive and is used to wearing revealing clothing that emphasizes her body, not caring for tradition or convention. Around her upper arms are a pair of thorny, black tattoos that encircle them like bands. Her navel is pierced, as are her ears (three piercings each).

Rose wears a flowing, sleeveless black vest, slit upwards at the back until just above her hips for easier mobility. The vest is closed partially by three evenly spaced-out black leather belts , the first one being just under her bust and the last one above her navel, exposing her ample cleavage (She does not wear a shirt inside). A looped silver chain dangles from the left side of the lowest belt. For freedom with her legs, she wears short black shorts as her bottoms. Her shoes are tall, sturdy, black boots reaching her knees, with dark silver studs and chains and on her hands are short, black fingerless gloves. Around her neck is a black leather collar.

Personality: Rose is beautiful but also thorny. She is standoffish, unfriendly and hostile towards others, as well as rough around the edges, evidently not the feminine type. She rarely warms up to people, and is difficult to get to know due to her lack of effort in reaching out to others. An independent spirit, she believes that she can handle her issues and problems by herself, even things beyond her control, and often brushes others aside, believing that she needs nobody. This happens especially when men try to intervene and try to see her as fragile. True, she's a very brave girl who would fearlessly join a fight and never runs away from obstacles, but she does not see the need to warm up more easily…which is probably the most important obstacle she has to overcome. Rather, she focuses on strength, so that she would not need to lean on anyone. It is difficult for her to trust someone, as she was lied to and betrayed terribly once, leading her to believe that people are undeserving of her trust. Being one who speaks her mind all the time, she does not care about what others may think, and says things, disregarding the possible consequences. Towards others, she is brash, speaking with foul language and sometimes is also needlessly crass to those who annoy her and won't hesitate to hurt anyone physically if she feels as if they're unbearable. Rose likes to think that she hates guys a lot, and she definitely does show it. One would find out however that this is not always true, if one takes the time and is patient with her. She's just very reluctant to allow herself to trust anyone, especially with the possibility of a repetition of her past experience. She does not think anyone is worth it if they don't try hard enough or dismiss her immediately. This, however, doesn't mean that Rose is entirely bad company. Harsh though she might be, she also has the capacity for compassion and can be caring, though she does not always show this, and even if she does, she never does so in a gentle, conventional manner, but rather, remains rough-handed, gruff and tough. It takes a lot to reach out to her, and it does not always succeed. What she really wants is someone who wouldn't judge or betray her, and despite the fact that she believes that there is almost nobody of that sort, she has good judgment and knows when she's right in front of one, and if that person proves himself, Rose would be a very loyal friend, though she often denies her better qualities. Interestingly, Rose is less hostile and unsociable around those who seem to be lonely or shunned, While she might be difficult, she does have a heart and it really would be worth it in the end if you manage to see the rose despite its thorns and pick it without fear.

History: Born in Szmaragd at the beginning of Diaz's reign to an immigrant couple from a northern country who was part of the rebels, Rose grew up knowing that life was hard, and that she had to learn to survive, as the place she was born in was one of the the first to host rebel activity. However, Marek and Agnieszka, though impoverished and struggling to get by, still tried to treat her like a princess and protected her, even though she was their older child. Neither of them wanted her to eventually share in their dangerous lifestyle. Rather, that was reserved for her younger brother by one year, Karol. Her parents had their fears for a good reason: the last thing they wanted to happen was to see their daughter taken by Diaz's forces and compromised if ever they were discovered. For the first eight years of her life, Rose grew up as sheltered as a girl could be in a war-torn country. It wasn't a comfortable life, and even as a little girl, she didn't like how she couldn't be "brave and strong" and often disobeyed her parents, but she was relatively safe due to her parents' efforts. She went to primary school and was just like any normal kid, though rather difficult to control, as she was very rambunctious and playful and had difficulty following rules, often getting into trouble because of her nature. However, the situation in Szamaragd was not getting any better, and when Rose was nine, her parents arranged for her to be smuggled out of Szmaragd by Ignacy, a rebel friend hiding the relatively safe village of Alba, in a valley somewhere in the hills of Salos. In doing that, they hoped that Rose could grow up to live a normal life.

And Rose did live a fairly normal life in Alba for a few years under Ignacy's watchful eye and grew to be tall and attractive. The man, with his good judgment, knew that the girl had to learn how to survive despite what her parents wanted, because it was only a matter of time before the village was going to be overtaken by Diaz' forces. He taught her the basic skills that he learned, such as how to cook and aim a gun, as well as helping her work on getting a little stronger and sturdier, as she was rather skinny and gangly at that time. He did this by allowing her to help him on his farm. Later on, he then decided to teach Rose how to hunt when she turned eleven, knowing that sooner or later, he was going to have to make her run away if Alba were to be surrounded. First with an old pistol, then later on progressing to Ignacy's trusty shotgun, Rose ventured into the forests and did her part by bringing in wild game for food and watching out for Diaz's soldiers. After all, nobody was going to think of a beautiful, redheaded and seemingly homeless girl as particularly dangerous or threatening. Sure there were some soldiers stationed at the place from time to time, but as Alba was sparsely populated, the valley town was not thought of to be potentially dangerous. Ignacy would hide his weapons and take on his cover job as a farmer, and Rose would play the part of the local girl who was more concerned with helping on the farm and playing in her spare time than the war. As time went on, she became lean-muscled and strong, adept with handling a scythe from working on the farm, as well as being a good shot with the gun from her hunting experience. She managed to make a few friends her age, and living with less fear, she retained her adventurous nature. Nights were spent in the single dilapidated pub in town, where she started drinking at a young age, comparing their kills (provided that the soldiers weren't stationed at those times…she usually had the best kills), or just lying on the grass and stargazing.

When she was at the rather late age of seventeen, Rose's dark magic manifested for the first time on the night of a blood moon, in a rather unexpected fashion. Slightly wasted from her last drink, she was about to leave the pub and gripped the rusty, broken doorknob a little too tightly. This resulted in a burst of black energy coming out of her hands that made the knob explode. This did not go unnoticed by the pub's owner, who was the father of one of her friends and a buddy of Ignacy's as well. He took her home and confided with the girl's caretaker on what happened, mentioning the name of the village's medic, "Arthur", as they talked. The next day, Ignacy told her to stop by Arthur's place. There, Rose learned that she wasn't the only teenager to have powers in Alba. Two of her other friends turned out to have powers as well. "Welcome to the club", they said as Rose began her secret instruction in controlling her magic under Arthur. She was allowed to bring the scythe that she used while working on the farm, so that she can be taught to channel her magic on a weapon, aside from controlling the pure powers in itself. Over the years that she trained, Rose first progressed slowly, but grew in skill faster after two years of instruction. Unfortunately, bad news reached her just before she turned nineteen: while her father was able to escape and hide during a rebel uprising, her mother and brother had been captured, tortured and killed by Diaz's soldiers. In her grief, she cursed herself for not being strong enough for them, and allowing her parents to get their way. They were idiots, she thought, and in order for her to get them off her mind, she vowed to be even stronger and more independent than she already was. Perhaps this was what drove her to somehow gain better control over her magic after two years of slow progress.

It was also at the age of nineteen that she met tall, dark-haired Aidan Murphy, who almost literally walked into her life. He was alone and a newcomer to Alba. Rose, being the person that she was, welcomed and quickly made friends with him. Perhaps it was a result of hormones, or maybe it was something else, but the two quickly fell in love with each other. He comforted her about her mother's and brother's deaths (though she did not disclose the reasons why), and managed to help lift some of the weight off her shoulders, though she still retained her fierce, independent streak. She somehow knew that she could be herself with him, so she trusted him with a few secrets, and even introduced him to Ignacy, though she never said anything about her magic as she was sworn to secrecy. Aidan became her hunting partner and helped in the farm as well, working mostly at the market while Rose went off for some training, under the guise of helping out at the apothecary. For almost three years, they stayed together, and Rose was certain that somehow, she found a place she could call home, where soldiers only came sporadically and she had someone she could live with. Unfortunately, her world was about to be shattered.

One day, when Rose was twenty-two, she arrived home after a few hours of hunting, only to find Aidan holding Ignacy at gunpoint. She didn't understand, but she didn't need to, because Aidan gave away everything. It turned out that he was one of Diaz's soldiers - a spy sent out to gain the trust of citizens in Alba in order to bring in the rest of Diaz' soldiers and root out rebels when he was trusted enough. Rose was gullible and a means to an end, he stated, and there were no feelings there at all. He had the records and knew that she was related to rebels, hence she was the perfect target. Alba was now surrounded, he claimed. However, Aidan wasn't too bright himself. He forgot that Rose still held Ignacy's shotgun, the one she hunted with for a number of years. The girl did not cry or beg for mercy. A cold anger spread within her as a result of her broken heart, and without any remorse she raised the gun and shot Aidan twice, killing him. The soldiers closed in on the village shortly after, knowing that the lack of Aidan's signal meant something bad. Ignacy managed to run off into the woods, but the girl wasn't so lucky. Identified as Aidan's murderer, she was taken captive and immediately sent to Galvez Prison as punishment.

Hometown: Szmaragd, a town in Salos' north, among forests and plains, that is often first affected and ruined by wars throughout its history. As a result, it's a hub for several rebel groups, but also teeming with Diaz' soldiers. As it's still within Salos, immigrant citizens are required to register under two names: birth name and a chosen name in the common Salosian language (both are official).

Weapon: A long-handled scythe made of dark steel.

Magic:

- Reaper's Slash: Cuts an opponent twice with a scythe infused with darkness.
- Lunar Fury: Rose allows darkness to fill her, awakening a primal element within her that allows her to be stronger and attack faster, also infusing her normal attacks with the dark element. When she does this, her eyes turn dark silver. This can only be sustained for a limited amount of time, however. At her current level, she can only do so for about 30 seconds.
- Grim Darkness: Rose unleashes a cloud of black shadow energy that envelops the foe, damaging it. It has a very small chance of inflicting poison.

@Schade: Yeah, everything looks good, although I just have a suggestion:
Would you mind changing the spell about him bringing back the dead? Maybe he creates a shadow or something idk lol. Also, if his scarf is made out his magic, wouldn't that mean he is constantly leaking out and using up mana?

@Jean Grey: Looks good so far :)

Also, since I'm a nice a guy, I shall open up spots for Le Prince and Mogar :).

It's so shiny!
Re-joining with Kenna as you know! A few tweaks to the original application, but she's essentially the same as she was before. I plan on having Light or Earth as her secondary magic at some point as well.

EDIT: I apologise for the length of her history. I just couldn't stop writing o_O

Name: Kenna Keyes

Age: 20

Sex: Female

Element: Water

Appearance: Kenna is uncharacteristically tall for a young woman, standing at around 5'7'. She has a slender body with a little bit of muscle definition on her upper arms, yet despite this many people have mistaken her for being weak and fragile. In the village where she grew up in long sunny days were very uncommon so she has a lightly tanned skin tone. She has wavy chestnut brown hair on top her head which falls just past her shoulders. Kenna has never really cared for the styling of her hair and prefers to have it either loose or in a small ponytail over one of her shoulders. Kenna has very childlike facial features which has lead to occasions where she has been perceived as younger than she is. Her most definable facial features are her lips and eyes. Her lips are small and plump with a very defined arch in her upper lip. Her eyes were a green-grey hue, but the development of heterochromia has caused a hazel discolouration in her left iris. In terms of shape, her eyes are almond shaped and a little too far apart than they should be, however this is rarely noticed and is not a problem for Kenna.

Kenna does not have a particular clothing style, and instead wears whatever she feels comfortable in. However living in her village meant that you were restricted in terms of what you ended up wearing due to the freezing weather conditions. Whilst she was living in Havnaar, Kenna's clothing choices mainly consisted of thick fur coats, shirts and dresses and thick fur bottoms. Usually this would be topped off with thick fur boots usually brown/beige coloured on the outside with a thick creamy coloured material on the inside that is good at keeping in the heat. Currently Kenna enjoys wearing very light cream coloured dresses which fall to just above her kneecaps. Despite being quite light and airy, they are actually made from a heat absorbing material similar to the materials that Kenna's clothes would be made from back in Havnaar.

Personality: A common misconception about Kenna is that because of where she is from she is a savage. However, the people that think this couldn't be any further from the truth. Kenna is polite and reserved, much preferring to join into a conversation rather than start one herself. Even though she would describe herself as shy, if she feels very strongly about something, she won't hesitate to make her opinion heard. She can be a bit tentative around strangers, a trait she shares with many people within her village. Most of the time this isn't a problem. It only becomes a problem if Kenna is in a scenario where she feels threatened or when she feels that something bad might occur. Once Kenna gets to know others, she comes across as quite caring and could be described as motherly.

History: Kenna Keyes is the third child and youngest daughter of Ludvic and Amara Keyes. Kenna was born and raised in a village in the northwest of Salos known as Havnaar. Kenna and her family had lived in a small wooden home in the central part of Havnaar where all the wooden homes and shops were. The other homes in Havnaar could be best described as tents, secured and held in place with thick pieces of wood and covered with a variety of materials that were commonly used in the towns. Some people even chose to decorate their tents with pelts of wild animals that they had caught.

Kenna's family was considered rich in Havnaar, as they owned the local black-smith. Havnaar is known for it handcrafted weapons and armour and in order to get large bulks of supplies, Kenna's family (and the handful of other families who worked in the blacksmith) were responsible fro making weapons and armour to trade for supplies from nearby towns, villages and settlements. Kenna's father worked at the blacksmith alongside his twin brother Burk. Sometimes, if the workload was light on that day, Kenna's father would bring his children to work with him so that they could learn the family trade. Unbeknownst to Ludvic, none of his children wanted to be involved in the family trade. Kenna's oldest sibling, Ria, frequently stated how she hated the idea of working in a blacksmith. Alongside her hatred for the blacksmith, she also frequently made comments about leaving the town when she became older. It came as no surprise to the family, when she left for a town in the south known as Mare De Sol upon her eighteenth birthday. Kenna's brother, Henriq, didn't want to take over the family trade but he was more than happy to work there for the time being. Henriq was a very attractive young man and a bit of a dreamer at heart. He planned on staying in the village, but had every intention of following his own dreams first. Amongst other things, Kenna shared Henriq's outlook on working at the black-smith.

Their father was never angry at them for not wanting to work at the blacksmith, as he believed it was right to allow your children to follow their dreams. The only thing which caused him great distress was when Ria left the town. Kenna never saw her mother as much as her father as Amara was in charge of delivering the supplies. Sometimes Amara could be gone for days (though this was down to risks involving the weather) so Kenna's relationship with her mother was not as good as it could potentially be.

In terms of the war, it barely affected Havnaar. Occasionally a few soldiers would be stationed in the woods or a small group would make their way through town but that was the extent of it. Or at least it was the extent of it. When Kenna was 14, her family suffered a huge loss. On a way back from a supply run, Amara had been killed by a landslide. It was believed she had earlier than expected so she could beat an incoming blizzard. Unfortunately, she was not that lucky...
Amara's death greatly affected the family, none more so than Ludvic. His depressed state made it impossible for him to get any work done. In order to keep the workload from slipping, Burk and Henriq took over the black-smith and Ludvic was put on temporary leave. Around two weeks later, Ludvic was found dead in Kenna's home. The cause of his death was never known, but people who knew claimed he died of a broken heart.

Kenna's life was as stable as it could be for around two years, which was when the effects of the war really began to take it's toll on the town. Former traders were no longer giving as many supplies in return for the weapons and armour, which meant the town suffered through shortage of supplies. What made it worse was that the towns who were no longer giving them as many supplies as they previously had were still requesting the same amount of supplies and weapons as before. And in some cases, they were even requesting more! The black-smith could not keep up with the high demand and therefore the town had no choice but to stop trading with some towns. The next major problem the town faced, was that men over the age of 18 were requested to help in the war. Unfortunately for Kenna this meant that her brother Henriq had to go and join up. The day before he left, Henriq gave Kenna a handmade bow and arrows set which he made himself. He made Kenna promise that she would use it to take car of herself and the town.

When she was 19, Kenna was hit by yet more bad news. Henriq had gone M.I.A and all efforts to try and find him had failed. Distraught, Kenna informed her uncle she was leaving to find her sister. After yet another tragedy had befallen her family, Kenna felt it was necessary that her sister knew about their parents death and their brother's disappearance. And so, Kenna made the long journey down south to the beach side town of Mare De Sol. When she found her sister, Ria was not happy to see her. Kenna was shocked to discover that her sister refused to acknowledge her life back in Havnaar. Enraged Kenna publically accused her sister of being a traitor to the town and for failing their parents. As the argument fizzled out, Ria discreetly used a spell involving the shadows that would prompt her sister to use her own spells. When Kenna did react with a spell, she ended up getting arrested as it was a criminal offense to use magic publically in Mare De Sol.

Hometown: Havnaar. A small village in the northwest of Salos which is shielded by mountainous terrain and a dense woodland and well-known for its handmade weapons and armour. Frequently buffeted by storms and blizzards year round mean that there can be some difficulty in reaching the town. Bandits occasionally attack the town but that is a rare occurrence.

Weapon: A handmade bow and arrows. Her weapon was given to her by her brother before he left to fight in the war.

Magic: Mystic Water - A healing spell. So long is there a water source nearby, Kenna can create a glowing stream of water which can heal wounds. It can't fix broken bones or stab wounds but can be used to aid the healing process or reduce the pain of these wounds. Best used on small cuts, bruises and other small injuries.

Tidal Blast - A offensive spell. No nearby water source is needed for this move, as Kenna simply creates the water using her own Mana. Kenna can small globules or streams of water from her palms. The strength of this move varies but it usually does very little damage. It can be effective in knocking foes off their feet.

Siren's song - A spell used to temporary confuse/daze foes. By singing a note or a few notes, Kenna can temporary daze/confuse foes. The effects do not last for long and are intended to temporary stun foes to a point where they are briefly unaware of their surroundings and what is going on which then makes it easier to land a few solid attacks on them. This only affects those who she directly sings to, so those who are stood near her but she isn't directing the spell towards will be fine. In situations of dire need, this spell can also be used in the form of a scream. In the form of a scream, this spell can affect multiple targets. One problem by using it in the form of a scream is that the effects are short, acting to momentarily startle foes rather than confuse them for a few minutes/seconds.
