All the screen shots have been of lowerish leveled evolve forms(save geodude), and Namakado or w/e, said 90% of the pokemon have evolutions, I think to complete the pokedex this time round you will need to do alot more breeding. Like instead of catching a Scyther, you can only catch Scizor sorta thing, then must breed it to complete the pokedex. Like the lv.10 butterfree, that must be early in the game.

Or maybe it is just the beta version of the game. I don't know how to explain it, but I know it let's the creators do whatever they want.(I think, don't yell at me if I'm wrong)

Honestly, I would hate that. I like evolving a whole lot more than breeding and hope there is more evolving in this game than breeding.

While I breed sometimes (like to get the baby Pokemon for my Pokedex), I'd much rather evolve. I like having a lot of babies (I liked GSC's number of babies more than RSE's...which was only three!), but not more than, like, ten to fifteen or so.

Plus, the game has more of a focus on evolving than breeding, so I think they'd rather have you catch a level 3 Caterpie and evolve it up to a Butterfree than catch a level 10 Butterfree and breed a Caterpie (then evolve it into a Metapod).

I think the only reasons they used the Pokemon they did were because they had the sprites ready, they were able to illustrate the different kinds of male/female sprite differences better than the other ones, or they are popular and would draw attention (since it gives reason to believe that they may be in the games' catchable Pokemon). I don't think it necessarily means that you can catch Butterfree or Scizor.

It is true wild Butterfree are possible. You could catch them in crystal. I don't think you can catch pokemon in the wild that need items for them to evolve like scizor.

Doubtful(sorry my spelling), that we could catch a scizor...it would stink trying to breed it to get a scyther...or any other evolved pokemon that was shown so far.

The main concept of Pokemon is to Catch, Train, and Evolve; with Breeding coming in to play during the second Region so you could obtain Egg Moves and certain Baby Pokemon [not to mention the addition of Gender].

Catching things like Scizor in the wild is just plain wrong 0_0 Besides, when going through the testing phases, the creators of the games go all GameShark on it, allowing them to encounter any Pokemon in the wild. Note: I don't mean they actually USE GameShark >.>
