It was good to see mukkubird win twice, but I was just a little annoyed at the recycling of images of mukkubird flapping himself near the roof like seven times.

The music just have to say was delicous, music makes more than half the battle imo.

I'm still waiting for the buizel vs lucario segment to load on youtube right now,
god it's taking forever, but it'll be worth the waiting. ^^

regardless of what people say though, chimchar did help wear down meditite's psychic power for mukkubird so he wasn't totally just there...

You know I really want to rant about Buizel, but I won't... not yet anyway.

Anyway I like the fact that Staravia got some redemption. So that's awesome, and that Lucario didn't lose to that thing and Ash still got the badge is nice too.

And noooooow the moment you've been waiting for.

It's official, I hate the water rat. They completely screwed over Chimchar for this. And they'd better redeem it, because since the tournament it hasn't done jack.

Seems like a great episode. I thought Staravia and Buziel deserved the spotlight on this gym battle. Both are strong pokemon who haven't had much of a chance to shine so far. With Staravia learning Brave Bird I kind of thought Ash would use it and do well with it in this gym. I'm a little surprised that in the last 4 or 5 episode two of Ash's pokemon learned their most powerful moves (Brave Bird and Water Pulse). That is why I am not too worried about Chimchar. There wasn't enough spotlight for everybody. I expect in gym 6 and 7 (Steel and Ice) that is where Chimchar will shine. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the ghost or the electric gym. Well see...

Yes, clearly a horrible battle. It's complete BS that they would give the spotlight to, y'know, the titular Pokemon. Yes, yes. And horrible that they gave it a chance to shine since it hasn't been in any gym battles yet. That makes no sense. Everyone knows that Satoshi has used Buoysel in a bunch of Battles. He's been seeing way too much face time.

Clearly Gligar was screwed out of its win. WTF, they should've used him! He's a flying type! This is a prefect gym to show his POWAA. They completely neglected the poor gargoyle. I hate that damn weasel! How dare he get a chance to shine![/sarcasm]


I actually came. Srsly. Great battle. Muku.JUSTICE was amazing. So was Buoysel. He and Lucario had a truly epic battle. Definitely better than Lizardon v. Boober.

Heh, I found it amusing to see that the first one and half pages or so in this topic was filled with false info.

Anyways, Water Pulse was expected. What was not expected was it being a tie battle. And another reference to contests, by now, it is pretty safe to assume that contests will be back. Although Buizel pulling off a combo move was pretty awesome I must say.

Even after watching it, I'm still not 100% sure Buizel just learned it just like that. I really don't care, it looked to me like it knew it and this was the first time it used.

I loved the battles, Staravia did really good, and well Chimchar did okay and Buizel was awesome.

Geez chimchar will have its chance, so guys/girls calm down. Wow even though I knew the results I'm surprised Buizel managed to survive and tie with Lucario.

To those who say it was cheap that Buizel opened a hole in the roof. Yeah right, please don't even. It was just as much Lucario's fault as Buizel.

Croagunk was hilarious, as well as those masseuse people.

I can't wait to see what Chimchar has in store for us as well as Staravia

Though I do doubt Ash will use Buizel against Wake. Buizel deserves a nice long break.

Neither had Buizel, in fact Ash has been training Chimchar far more than Buizel. I'm surprised that Ash even used Buizel to be honest (before the dub title was even announced) and besides Buizel needed it more than Chimchar, since this was Buizel's first gym battle...Period, and major first match. Heck Buizel didn't do squat until Ash used it against Maylene. Chimchar has been in a lot of battles, he at least battled Roark, and he had multiple battles in the tag battle Arc.

No. It wasn't a loss for Sumomo. In the event of a tie, it's the Gym Leader's choice as to whether the challenger was deserving of a badge. Given that this has been a pretty awesome fight, I think I'd agree with her decision that he was worthy.

And yes, it probably would've been a loss for Buoysel, but that Lucario was pretty h4x. Not that it's a bad thing, it was just unusually strong I felt. Buoysel will likely be a major powerhouse for Satoshi though. Sumomo was impressive too though. I really liked how she battled and made the movements that her Pokes did.

This was one badass battle. Forget the Convenient rain and the Water Pulse. I loved it. And it showed just how strong Buizel was. He is in fact a badass. I was disappointed because I wanted to see Chimchar get a win. But look at it this way. It has Canalave, Snowpoint, Hearthome, and Sunyshore with type advantages. Chimchar has MANY chances to shine so its not a complete loss. As for Muku. It got some good wins. We probably wont see it in another gym battle unless Ash uses it in Hearthome so it was good it got those wins

Although I would like it more if Buizel would have trained for Water Pulse before the battle, the process is not bad.

I mean how do pokemon learn moves in the game? After getting experience, right? They never have to see someone using the move it is learning.

This is the same case with Buizel. He just got experience and learned Water Pulse. Thats all.

I know that Buizel doesn't learn WP naturally. Bulbasaur dosen't learn tickle or Whirlwind naturally, and nobody has trained him for those moves. So count Buizel learning WP a anime error.

If we look it that way, Buizel learning WP is pretty cool. It was not even DEM. Buizel didn't win (with WP or not).

I'll say, I saw a real cool gym battle after a long time. Buizel sorta didn't lose, neither Lucario. That statisfied all of us I guess, as well as we saw a new kind of result.

Lucario Vs Buizel - double knock out (both Lucario & Buizel fainted together)

Result:- Match was drawn, Maylene after consulting her master (or her father i don't know) & her pokemon decided to give Ash the badge.

Well if you had been reading some of the post on the first pages of the thread then i understand for your misunderstanding because i was one of the people who posted the match result wrong.

This GYM was the best.
It is good to see Mukkubird got two wins even Chimchar did well.
battle field was awful.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who couldn't stop laughing at the confused Muku.BIRD being forced against its feathery will to bang its head against the floor repeatedly. I replayed that scene 5 times, I swear.

I'm still annoyed by the fact that they made confusion become purple instead of the regular blue. Just doesn't fit imo.

Buizel was badass and will probably evolve to Floatzel later on and become the Charizard/Sceptile/Swellow powerhouse of Sinnoh.

Staravia was also great but it got some help from Chimchar though..

Music & BGM wasn't as good as in Hikari's First Gym Battle, I didn't like that song with vocals that they played..didn't fit.

Psychic is blue, confusion used to be punrple in the old days, just a lesser "fluorescent" tone. Of course they changed that around BF and made both blue-ish, not to mention they added in this epi the purple eyes which is AWESOME!
