About natures (sorry for the noobish question but I'm still confused)

I keep looking at the site's pokedex and at the bottom it has stats, but out of the 3 natures [Hindering / Neutral / Beneficial] I was wondering how do you determine which one of these your pokemon has? Because obviously I'd like beneficial stats since they're much greater and the likes.

I'm asking now because I never knew about EV's/ IV's and all that stuff so thats what I'm trying to do with my pokemon now, but the 3 nature max stats at the bottom of the pokedex's still confuse me.

Sorry for this but can anyone explain?

ALSO

Is there a place I can find suitable natures (like Rash, Lonely) reconmendations for my pokemon? I'm still trying to work out what natures and what EV's to add to my pokemon. I tried this one site (Smogon.com) for move sets but I can't find a damn thing on there.

Thanks

It's not really that complicated if you know a lot about EV's, but the way it's done does leave a lot of room for confusion.

To be simple about it, we'll use Makuhita's Pokédex entry as the example.

At the bottom, it lists the Max Stats. For a Hindering Nature, it's max Stats are lower than Neutral, and even lower than Beneficial. The same works vice versa for Beneficial to Hindering.

Basically, what this is telling you, is that if you have an Adamant-natured Makuhita, that nature Raises Attack but lowers Special Attack.

So the stats will tell you that if you EV train your Makuhita in Attack EVs, the max it'll get to is 240. It's Special Attack however, if you chose to EV train that to the max, would only get to 125, as opposed to the 152 it could have if it had a nature favouring Special Attack.

So you take your Nature, find out what it raises, what it lowers, and then look up your Pokémon. CHeck the stats at the bottom in correspondence to what Nature you have and what Stats you'll raise, and you can find out what it could have.

As for your second question, as much as I hate to direct you there, the RMT forum usually has a list of recommended natures and movesets. Smogon's not bad.

You could even try this site's Pokémon of the Day section, and hope that it's there, but I usually find that they don't really make that much sense for a lot of the time. =/

(At least to me.)

Hope that helped.

Well, Natures of Pokémon affect their stats. If one stat is raised because of the Pokémon's Nature, another one will be lowered. A complete list of Natures can be viewed here.

The max. stats in the Pokédex are calculated with maxed out EVs and IVs and are multiplied with 1.1 (beneficial Nature), 1 (neutral Nature) or 0.9 (hindering Nature).
That means, it isn't possible to max out every single stat of a Pokémon.

To answer your last question, you could have a look at the Pokémon of the Week of Serebii.net or go to the Rate my Team - section here at SPPf.

If something that I said was wrong, please correct me.

PRE-EDIT: Damn, beaten, but I used more than ten minutes of my life's time to write this stuff (yeah I'm that slow) and look things up, so I'm going to post it anyways. At least I could add some Links.

So basically it comes down to the natures. So now in order to work out what I want to EV raise, I need to find their best natures.
For a simple game, it can be very complex when you try and take it to this level.

Thanks for your help XanderWolf + Solarbeam
