The first generation. The good old Game Boy games that started it all. Due to having colors in title names, it is also known as the Color generation, however most people refer to it as the 1st gen. Some people may say 1st edition or version.
The Pokémon games was a hit. It was one of the most-selling games for Game Boy ever made.

Although you could only have 1 save, it was one of the biggest games, too. All the features are as follows:

  • A party of your own Pokemon to bring with you. It consists of 6 members.
  • You could store more pokemon in boxes, which were 12 at the time, bringing storage to 240 Pokemon. (20 per box)
  • A stat system with Attack, Defence, Special, HP, and Speed. They all affect battles in a specific way.
  • A total of 151 Pokemon, in which nearly 90% are tied to evolution.
  • 15 total types, which have strengths and weaknesses to other types. Also supports immunity.
  • The 8 gyms, Elite Four and Champion to bring extra much challenge to the game.
  • The system of trading and battling via a link cable.
The Pokemon you are supposed to choose at the beginning is either Squirtle (water), Charmander (fire) or Bulbasaur (grass), all with different difficulties to raise. Your rival always chooses a Pokemon that overmatches your type. EXAMPLE: You choose Charmander, he choose Squirtle. This combination is used for future games aswell.

MORE INFO:
  • Generation 1 is the only generation to have non-legendary mascots, excluding their remakes. (FireRed, LeafGreen)
  • If counting the glitch pokemon, this generation has the most glitches ever.
  • Generation I has the most extra space in the Pokémon storage system if the player captures one of each Pokémon, with 240 spots available for 151 Pokémon, leaving 89 extra spots.

Don't repost a thread after it has been closed by a mod. If you think it was done unfairly then discuss it with another mod of the forum, a SuperMod or an admin. Reposting it again will only get it closed, and you may get a warning for it.
