ok, i know that this is the wrong board, but they don't have this under the games section, so i thought i would ask here. i was just wondering if anyone knew if you could get shiny pokemon in the game?

It should be under "Path to Diamond and Pearl", seeing as this is MD. On topic, I don't think you can.

You can't get shiny Pokemon, but you can rescue them on rare missions.

You can rescue them but not befriend them. Sorry.
