Absol - Overrated?

To pull away from Char Wars: The Revenge of the Intelligent Fans for a bit, hasn't anyone else noticed how much love Absol gets? She's much more deserving of it than Charizard, but everyone seems to love her for an equally ridiculous reason - they like her "emo" image and worship her for being portrayed as an outcast. They think they can relate to her *cough*

Battle abilites aren't everything. Surely you should know that.

Anyway, I haven't actually seen much of Absol. But nearly everyone now realises he's not that good in battle and is really fragile. Absol will never be in the same situation as Charizard. It's dragon-worshipping that happens, not mammal-worshipping. And I always though people liked Umbreon for it's emo image... but I just think it's cute.

And yes, I know what it is!

I know. I'll never truly despise Absol, because my friends love it. Absol is strong, but she can't take a hit. If battling abilities were everything, I'd love Salamence and Metagross (which I hate) and hate Mightyena and Pidgeotto (which I love)

Absol is a great pokemon, and it isn't a pokemon that should be hated, but I don't think it is like Charizard (1st post was talking about him).

IMO, Absol is overrated. I just recently realized how popular Absol really is, and am tired of it. Absol is no different from other Pokemon, sure it looks cool and is a dark type, but it isn't one to use against someone very powerful and intelligent. Absol has low defense and sp. defense, but has good speed and very high attack. But it fails in comparison to Flareon for example.

Well in battle it's anything but overrated and rightly so. But as for the pokemon itself, overall, it is overrated. Don't know why myself but you could be right about the emo thing though.

I disagree about Charizard though. It deserves more love because it is better than absol in looks and on the battlefield imo. But eh, it has a bad reputation because of the fan boys.

At least Absol hasn't been showcased as an invincible beast/über trump card in the Anime... it hasn't even been over-showcased either.

Still, it does get too much attention. But eh... *shrugs* I rather like Absol. Not for his emo-ness, but for its design. I also like the concep of being a "Bad Omen" of sorts.

But yes. More than for its battling abilities or appearance, Absol is overrated for seemingly representing emo-ness (Being an outcast and all that...), and such. Not much else to say...

I like Absol. The cry sounds cool and I really love the hurricane-symbol shape of the head. Color scheme is nice too, and the whole "bringer of disaster" thing. Besides that blades and claws are sexy. Emo my foot.

Besides that I have one with 355 Attack on my Sapphire. I like high numbers, even when surrounded by pitifully low ones.

Absol's pretty cool in herself, yes. She's got a great design and shiny form. *thinks* I should try training one.

Hang on a moment here. Am I the only one who hasn't bumped into one of these supposed Absol fanatics? I knew it was a pretty popular pokémon and all, but I've never seen anyone make a huge deal out of it. At the most it's an 'Absol is pretty cool' comment and nothing more. I can't say I've ever come across any 'emo worship' either.

I don't care if it's overated, nor do I care if it's good in multiplayer (which people read into FAR too much these days). It's an interesting pokémon, with a decent design, an intriguing story behind it's species and some nifty characteristics. That's good enough for me.
