Well my friend compared Absol to Scyther.

Now who do you think would win?

Both Lv 100.

Ill leave the moves for you guys to decide.

P.S I think Scyther will win.

scyther, by far. silver wind, for one, gets STAB and is SE on Absol. it's also faster. it's also far cooler.

Unbelievably Cooler.

Scyther - Blades for hands

Absol - Pick axe on one side of it's head. ^^

I think scyther will win. Not only is he one of my fav. pokemon ,but he can learn awesome moves.

1 question though, what is "STAB"

I really shouldn't be answering this, but I'll try :D

STAB = Special Type Attack Bonus.. I think >.<
(I am only 70% sure about the exact ##'s)
If you have a Pure Grass Pokemon uses a grass attack, it gets 200% Bonus

If it is Half Grass, it's only 150%

REMEMBER I AM NOT TOTALLY SURE

:D

STAB is Same-Type Attack Bonus, hubbs was almost right here.

if the attacking pokemon is the same type as the attack that it's using, the move's power is multiplied by 1.5, no matter whether it's a pure type or a dual-type.

My G/S/C guilde says it's 2x when Pure.

Let me check

*Runs up stairs and checks guilde*

Please Hold

*Classical Music Plays*

Nevermind, your right

a lot of G/S/C guides claimed that you got a 1.5 boost if you were pure-type, and 1.25 if you were dual-typed. i don't know if they were right then, but they're sure wrong now.

Out of a crazy mind.
For one thing, this belongs in Pokepolls. Second, Absol would win. Flamethrower will PWN Scyther, assuming the EVs have been perfectly distributed on Absol.
In looks-Absol
Most Dark type-Absol
More Bug typ-Absol
I happen to be raising an Absol, and it's been doing pretty well. Also, Ice Beam is also SE against Scyther. So there. IMO at least

lol. flamethrower and ice beam on an absol. look at its stats.

attack: 130
SAtk: 75
at level 100, ignoring nature, IVs, and EVs, its attack will be 110 higher than its special attack.

also, it gets swords dance. why would you want to make it a special sweeper?

For many reasons. Reasons that won't be stated in this thread. Mostly because:
*lv50 Scyther appears*
Oh noez!11! My Absol is weak!1211
*Uses Ice Beam*
*Scyther gets KO'd*
Yayz!22209 Now my Absol wins!23223
*Goes to E4, gets a** kicked*

Um... Absol also learns Aerial Ace which is super-effective to Scyther and gets boosted by Sword Dance. Also Fireblast is slightly better for Absol then Flamethrower.

My vote is Absol, but, they're pretty evenly matched in that they both have cruddy defenses and SE moves against each other. It would depend on nature and EVs I think.

Probably Scyther will win since Silver Wind and STAB is SE against Absol which will probably OHKO it. However, it depends on the EVs and junk and the movesets of the two Pokemon.

Besides, Silver Wind's base power is 60. Wyndigo's right, Aerial Ace is better.

Absol = Aerial Ace, Ice Beam, FlameThrower, Rock Slide, and ThunderBolt

Syther = Silver Wind

Guess who wins. It has to be Absol since it uses Rock Slide for 4x damage against Scyther. I can't believe you guys left out Rock Slide...

I'll be buggered. I didn't know he learned it.
Well then, that's a nicer attack to smite Scyther with if one doesn't mind the lower accuracy.

Absol doesn't learn Aerial Ace. It Can learn it via TM but not naturally.

~hubbs

Edit: Who would in a Double Team abused match?

What?

You never said that we couldn't use TMs or Move tutors. If can't use those then we shouldn't use breeding moves for that matter. If Scyther doesn't get his only bug move, he's really screwed.

If Scyther uses Double Team, Absol's screwed unless luck is on Absol's side.
