I haven't been able to catch any good fish. At all. Since getting the game. The best I've been able to catch was a sea bass...all the other fish just swim away.

Is this bad luck or is it a fishing mechanism or something?

Try getting lucky items or good feng shui. Both increase your luck. All I had was a deluxe washer and I caught koi and a goldfish! Now, with a trophy and lucky gold cat, I get tons of cool fish! No feng shui at all!

I'll be happy to sell you the lucky gold cat or deluxe washer. The Fishing Tourney is the 26th as well.

The rarer fish will appear more frequently when it's raining or snowing, so make sure you fully exploit every day when it's wet.

Well I can tell you that the Coleacanth(Or how ever it's spelt.)can only be caught when it's raining at the ocean. Since it doesn't rain in Febuary, you need to wait till next month when it does rain.

Actually, it can also be caught when it's snowing, so you don't have to wait until spring.
