Acid Tears

I don’t want you to get hurt
I’m worried about you
You’re the one I love
This always will be true

A clean sleeve to cry on
Catching my problems hurled
As though you had none of your own
On your shoulders you carry the world

I’m crying acid tears
Please don’t pull me near
I won’t let them burn into
The one I hold so dear

Don’t hold me out of charity
Though I still long for your touch
I know that asking for your love
Would just be far too much

So leave me in my misery
It’s really for the best
I’m only a wretched nuisance
Nothing more than just a pest

The tracks of my tears
Are burned down my face
Hoping you took my advice
And left this accursed place

A warm hand on my chin
Drawing your face close to mine
Gentle fingers tracing
The still burning outlines

From that look within your eyes
