Ads ;-;

Status
Not open for further replies.
For the past few days when I've been on the forum sometimes these stupid ads will randomly come up when I try to go to another page. This is the url of the ads: http://www.affiliatetarget.com/cgi-bin/51/3.cgi?

I was told it was spyware and I tried a few of the things mentioned in the stickies of this section but the ads keep coming. So does anyone know a way for me to block them?

Are you sure you should be posting the link to the ad? Might infect other computers if it's clicked on

So you have tried Ad-Aware, Spybt and the Microsoft Anti-Spyware programs?

I have the same problem and I have Norton Anti-Virus. The computer sais it's not strong enough. Ads keep coming up, mostly adult ones. i don't know what to do, because I tried everything I could think of. The only solution I think would work would be to get a new computer.

The link is there because there's a chance someone could recognize it and know what to do about it.

And I tried all three of those. @.@

NetZero is a dialup ISP. That's probably the software for that... unless I have no clue what I'm saying.

Yeah, they should be safe to stop.

Actually the safest way to end some of these is Start -> Run, type in msconfig, hit Enter, go to the "Startup" tab and uncheck anything related to those underlined.

If their italicized, try ending the process using Alt+Crtl+Del.

Oh and what is NetZero?
I would suggest keeping netzero considering that is how she gets on the internet. xD Most likely the software, as stated by ShiningClefairy earlier.

Himiko, stop the programs that are in italics like Latios said. If needed, you might want to keep netzero or reinstall the software. The underlined things are simply software that is not needed, I'm assuming that you use it though; therefore, you should stop the programs and put them back on one at a time. This should fix your problem, if not, them your SoL.

I stopped the wink process last night though when I restarted my comp it came back and I had to stop it again. But I haven't seen any ads since I've been on this morning so it seems to be fixed.

Thanks for the help, everyone! ^_^

AL or someone else that has the ability to, you may close this now if you wish.
