Anyone else watch Adult Swim on the night of April 1st? Half of the time slot was filled with random shows like a Chuck Norris cartoon, a Mr. T cartoon, and a messed up version of Yogi Bear. The other half of the slot was filled with a new episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig (shows twice...for good reason) and a rerun of Fullmetal Alchemist (Episode 2: Body of the Sanctioned).
For both anime Adult Swim added a wide array of farting noises. The farting noises were placed in certain "appropriate" and well-timed points in the episodes. They would add a farting noise at a point where a character is about to look surpised to make it seem as if the fart surpised them. Or right before a commercial, end of an episode, or a serious point followed by silence a farting noise was made to break the silence or to make it seem like a final statement. There were even group farts and some lines were inaudible because of the noises. Everytime in SAC where that girl goes by on her wheelchair, there was a farting noise. By the way, some of these farting noises sounded quite - juicy. Of course, since it was a new episode, they show SAC twice, the second time without any comical interruptions.
As for Fullmetal Alchemist, since it was a rerun, Adult Swim went crazy. They seemed to save the best farts for FMA. Some of you might already know that FMA is filled with parts were a character gives off a surprised look. Well, Adult Swim took full advantage of that to say the least. Many lines were covered by farting noises. At the end of the episode, when Ed is supposed to tell Rose to do things from her own will, Ed stands up and turns his back to her. Well, you hear nothing he says because all you see is Ed's back to Rose and a rather long fart. But the funniest (and quite disgusting) not-even-a-fart noise came from any scene where "Kane" showed up. Instead of a fart it sounded as if the Bird/Kane was actually pooping. You could hear the...chunks as they hit toilet bowl water. It was as if Adult Swim recorded someone using the bathroom. There it got funnier. You could actually hear a man grunt, followed by splashes. This occurred several times whenever they showed Bird/Kane. Oh yeah, another funny part was when Ed got Cornello to confess to a hidden microphone. You heard nothing he was saying, as it was completely covered by the longest fart of them all. And it was perfect because it looked as if all the townspeople were astonished by the fart rather than the truth.
LOL This was a great April Fool's Joke. I didn't get to see it that night because I fell asleep, but I did record it. When I watched it I was totally caught by surpise. Leave it to Adult Swim to defile great anime. And another thing, Adult Swim didn't even bother changing any of those slides they show before and between their shows. They showed their regular Saturday night slides, making it seem as if Inuyasha and Evangelion were going to show. Lazy bums...
