AG160 parody sub

the Rocket Gang try desperately to conceal their drug operations, blatantly homosexual Harley pits his kinky new tentacle monster against horny neo-Nazi Haruka, an NPC and a stoner are judges, and references abound range from Johny Bravo to a hentai publisher. All this and more can be seen in "It's About Friggin' Time! Harley's Revenge!!"

As you might guess, this is a parody sub I did of "Gonbe's Debut Match! Harley and Taking the Game Seriously!!", which I did on the side while working on a true sub for the episode. I, of course, poke fun at some of the fanbase with their wild assumptions, while blending in some randomness and my own brand of hatred for a certain terrapin. This thread is a discussion for those who've watched it.

I won't provide a link, due to legal reasons. However, if you're familiar with the group I work for, it's now available there. Be warned, it's not meant for young viewers (as if the description at the top of this post wasn't a dead giveaway). I'd like to give credit to some of the guys at #Pocketmonsters, for encoding this and such, as well as deciding on an ending theme, the text at the beginning of the opening, and of course, managing to release this around April Fool's, such a fitting time of year for parody subs. I hope you all enjoy.

The ever-consistant breaking of the forth wall and shots at the animé fanbase were examples of classic comedy material in it's purest form. Lillian the Lesbian, the NPC judge, the kinky Ariados appeal and (surprise, surprise) the intentional irritation of Gonbe in particular were my favourites

X-freakin'-D. Love how you made Lilian into a hooker. This was probably the best choice for an episode to parody. Either this or the Battle Dome episode, for the sake of Tucker gay jokes.

Seriously, though, this was brilliant. Probably the only good joke I saw today.

I don't think that would work. Heath seems a bit more masculine in the anime than the rest of the franchise. Besides, my decision to parodize this episode was actually rather spontaneous. I was talking with Heracross around the time of the episode's release, and jokingly made up the title "It's About Friggin' Time! Harley's Revenge!!" Suddenly, it clicked in my head: Harley getting a victory against Haruka was a highly-anticipated event (possibly as soon as the Battle Frontier opening confirmed that he's officially a major character), and pretty much the entire fanbase assume the guy's a homosexual (and he gets an octopus, of all things). Such things seemed to make the episode a very easy target of spoofing. The other stuff I just kinda added along the way, some of which were also based on my observations (quite a few users did make comments about Lilian being a lez with the hots for Haruka, and Shuu was believed to be a stalker before Wakana was found out to have delivered that letter).

Don't worry, though. I said this was spontaneous, but since you all seem to have really liked it, I'll see to it there's an April Fool's release next year as well. Hopefully, another spoof-worthy ep comes along, or maybe someone else in the group could think of something.

You know, there's a funny inside joke to that. On the staff channel, we were trying to discern Harley's Engrish in that scene. Eventually, I think we decided on "Harley totemo angry!" (totemo=very), but at some point, we could swear he was saying "Harley f***ing angry!"

Actually, I suggest reading the line (and the lines before it) again. He wasn't referring to Octan. I'll post the lines here, just so those without access to the episode know what the hell I'm talking about (and those with access, I don't wanna ruin it for you).

EDIT: The original line was "Everyone has pursued this location by crossing the sea, the mountains, and the valley! Very sexy!" Yeah, I know, that works in a wierd context o.0, but it's not like Harley speaks perfect English either (case and point, everyone's favorite line, "Harley very question").

That's why I found it particulary funny, Harley is known for his engrish as you mentioned. And it really sounded like he said "****in' angry". It really fitted Harley's reaction, the body language, at that moment, so it wouldn't much of a surprise if he said that.

The line works both ways. Octillery is "ribbed". And you know what people think about tentacles. I showed to a friend and he thought he was referring to Octillery. Cacturne makes more sense, though.

That's why I found it particulary funny, Harley is known for his engrish as you mentioned.

XD This caught my eye... Harley's VA, Jun'ichi Kanemaru(cookie to him), also voices Sonic the Hedgehog, who, funnily enough, also delivers a fair bit of Engrish in the original version of the games and anime. Coincidence?

well, it's been over month since April Fool's. If you still haven't watched this (due to the change in format or whatever), you're missing out. However, I recently learned how to take screenshots, and of course, I'd like to post some here. If you already saw the parody, there's still some comments accompanying the pictures that might be worth a read.

Let me just start off with bragging rights. That's my name, b*tches! Right there! Yup, I get credit because this was "translated" by me. ^^

The Rocket Gang, fitting of their namesake, get involved in gang-related activities. XD I really liked this scene, and I think Sunain on #Pocketmonsters said it was her favorite part of the parody.

The poor trio is reminded of what once was. First series Kantou has long-since passed, now.

No, seriously, I hate these guys. Give them hell.

He's a minor character, and yet he's constantly recurring. Maybe he took it as a sign? XD Anyway, I love how I wrote "God", as I managed to turn some nobody with only two lines ("Go, Nyorotono!" and "Nyorotono, Water Gun!", yep, that's it) into some lunatic with an interesting quirk. If I ever happen to parodize another contest episode he appears in, I'll enjoy writing more of his antics.

You know, I really could've made a scat joke here. But, I went against it because 1) unlike the previous "orgasm", we clearly see this firing out of Octan's mouth, and 2) I personally find scat to be an extremely, extremely nasty fetish, and as kinky as I made Harley out to be in this sub, it would be a bit too much if he was actually into something like that. It's probably enough that I made him a blatant homosexual.... who's into beastiality.... and tentacle rape.

Instead, I opted to have Lilian point out one of the oddities of the anime: pretty much every damn thing explodes. Given, it is Sludge "Bomb", but you'd really expect it to just kinda burst and scatter, not give off a white-flashed explosion (as pictured).

In any case, Haruka is thankful that my script didn't cause her Pokemon to end up covered in s***. XD

Yeah, this pic doesn't have any hilarious subs, but come on. This screenshot is one of the best parts of the episode, parodized or otherwise. How could I even think of leaving it out? And while I'm at it with the non-parodized screens...

This is just a little thing I like to call "Gravy service".

The ironic thing is, I actually do try reading those quizzes myself. ^^'

I told Heracross about my ideas for the parody long before it was released, and I recall him cracking up at this line I thought of for the next episode preview.

I'll post more if there's a demand for it.
